General discussion / Re: The IRISH RUGBY thread

Superb effort by the Irish side. New Zealand physically upped their game and inflicted serious damage on the irish players. Ireland I would imagine will be well short next week.
Ireland did everything but cross the line as New Zealand seemed happy to concede penalties to prevent what looked like inevitable irish tries.

Long levers with one of the sweetest strikes of the ball with the left peg. Broke many opposition hearts all down the year.

Enjoy the retirement.

Typical Brolly nonsense. He usually starts off with a story about a great GAA man then finishes it off with the comparison with SKY and GPA, or else he just savages something or someone he knows nothing about, or as in this case, he starts about corporate greed and then in his final paragraph compares it to SKY and GPA.  I could take all his stuff about billionaires and their antics and how they are ruining the world and how the common man has no say against them, only for the fact that he is writing it in the paper of Denis O Brien. He is now a caricature of himself, spouting populist nonsense that has no basis in fact whatsoever.
He really knows how to go after the populous vote. Just amazing how many people say "great article" when reading his, because they found a "sound-byte" they agree with.

It hasn't gotten any publicity that I've seen, but Brolly has put the feelers out about running for president when Michael D finishes up!

Now howl on a minute sir !

Some operator alright.

Best of luck and thanks for the memories.

A very vital cog in the Kilkenny wheel for manys a year, the enforcer of the defence. No wonder Lar Corbett ran away from him in the Declan Ryan inspired AI final!!

Enjoy your retirement Jackie, you can now have as many biscuits as you like and not have to worry what those Clare lads are up to.

That was a semi final I think. And I don't think Lar was running away from Jackie, as much as he was running after Tommy. It was like a coursing meet. Tommy was trying to turn Pa Bourke, Lar was trying to turn Tommy and Jackie was trying to turn Lar.

Yes a semi and Tipp lead a point at HT .

Tipp wanted Lar to mark Jackie but Kilkenny were anxious to have Tommy mark Lar instead ?. Tommy stood and waited for Lar coming out of the tunnel after half time.

General discussion / Re: Death Notices

I was coming home in the car last night and Cohen was being played. At that stage the news of his death had not been announced and I was thinking to myself what a wonderful songwriter, singer and entertainer he was.

RIP.

Quare bitta analysis for Ulsteronians

http://www.performasports.com/news/ulster-sfc-all-star-team-2016-selected-from-player-analysis

Performa is very interesting
But is it standardising performances ?

Having Conor MC Manus for example  in last place suggests so.

Kilcoo will be short priced favourites to reach the final. The Slaughtneil and Killyclogher game should be a cracker and whoever gets through the final should also be very good.

Is the rugby World Cup coming to Ireland predicated on this stadium being ready or is that just a myth ?.

How many concerts a year are planned ?.

Is the ulster final definitely being moved to Casememt from now on instead of Clones ?.

Sorry for all the questions. They probably have been answered a few times already.

GAA Discussion / Re: 2016 Season. How did you see it?

Slow burner of a football season rescued by 2 very exciting close finals.

Hurling was the same slow burner up until the KK Waterford seemi final and replay with Tipp running out easy winners in the final.

Kieran Mc Keever the new manager ?.

Yesterday Maghery showed that commitment and fluency rather than individual brilliance can prove a cocktail for success.
In front of 6,390 fans, they put decades of frustration behind them to come up trumps and in the process several players gave watching orchard county team boss Kieran McKeever a nudge that their credentials might be worth considering when he comes to naming his 2017 panel.
