Anybody See Niall Morgan playing outfield on Saturday gave young Munroe his fill of it i would say.. Have seen nobody in any championship game so far that i would consider county football material.... hopefully somebody jumps out in the next few games.... possibly young ONeill from Ardboe or McLaughlin(ithink thats his name) from Omagh but they are both half backs...

id say moy v cookstown and pomeroy v clonoe will be on together probably in edendork.

I have to say I find Edendork a terrible venue for a match - too open to the elements and there is little atmosphere created during games due to the vastness of the terrace.

Surely Senior championship games should be played at venues with a bit a shelter for the patrons - I can think of 10 better venues:

Pomeroy
Omagh
Carmen
Dungannon
Dumoyle
Killyclogher
Galbally
Augher
Loughmacrory
Coalisland

To that list you could add the following who have covered terracing;

Moy
Donaghmore
Greencastle
Kildress
Ardboe
Kileeshil
Trillick
Beragh
Fintona

Admittedly a few of them are not located centrally to accommodate games but I would travel the extra distance if it meant I was going to be sheltered...

At least the surface is good in Edendork which in my opinion is more important than having a covered stand, you mentioned the Moy here it is one of the worst surfaces in the county a lot of others you mentioned would hardly be suitable for championship football. Edendork has been a championship venue for a long time and will continue to be.

Could Edendork not pull itself into the 21st century and get themselves a bit of shelter?

Is the bingo still going??? if not they could raffle a house!!

well I was chatting to an omagh man who said the pitch was just the right shape for them to win this match.

We will see on Saturday who is right then...

Talking to an Ardboe man last night they are quietly confident that they can take Omagh.... he thinks Loughmacrory pitch is just the correct size for Ardboes style of play and will also take some space away from Omagh....
Just the correct size?
Not too big or not too small !
Omagh  by 3

I think he meant he would not want to be playing on a bigger pitch...

Derrylaughan recorded an expected victory last night, they look like a side that will challenge.  Saying that they face Eglish/Stewartstown in the QF which will be a real test of their credentials.  Their forward line looks sharp and a defence that holds a team to 4 points in 60mins cant be bad either.  They will face tougher tests.  I haven't seen bookies odds but who are the favourites for the intermediate championship?

Did Brian Kennedy get a straight red card last night just at the end....

Yes, he got a straight red in injury time. There was an off the ball incident and the ref black carded the Castlederg number 15. But the linesman signaled to the ref and after a bit of discussion he showed both men straight reds. I believe it was for striking.
Very silly on Kennedy's part to strike deep into injury time with a 10 point lead and a place in the quarter final waiting.

He will appeal and he will get off....nearly everybody else does....

A neutral man said to me last night that Clonoe have easily provided the most entertainment in Tyrone championship football over the past numbers of years. I had not actually given it a thought until he mentioned it. Would you agree?

I can't disagree. it's a fantastic Championship with many teams playing their part.

Indeed think of the really exciting games in the last few years.... Clonoe,Carrickmore,Omagh, errigal coalisland killyclogher dromore trillick have all been involed in at least one or more....might not be the best championship but it is the most competitive and most exciting long may it continue....

Boys ultimately we don't have the forwards to compete with Dublin.

I would agree with this, you still need top forwards to win All Irelands and currently they dont exist in Tyrone.  Im not sure where the really next top, match winning forward/s in Tyrone are coming from.  We seem to have abundances of running half forward types but very little options for the full forward line.  Until we unearth some forwards who can be considered to be amongst the best in Ireland, then All Ireland glory will be out of our reach.  Forwards win matches.

How are we going to unearth a really top class full forward if we continue to use this defensive style of play particularly when it's also being used by the development squads..

Don't you understand that to "to compete with the best" you dont need to develope forwards apparently the opposition are to be convinced to stick the ball over their own bar to placate the mickey fan club on this interenet form. Anyone who dares question his methods

1. Dose not have a clue
2. never played the game
3. has not been picked by mickey
4. has had a relative who has not been picked by mickey
5. has never managed a team in their lives
6. has personel issues with mickey.

or possibly are a little feed up with paying good money to watch their county being beaten out the gate while "competing with the best" because our great leader has decided we dont need to play with a forward line which contains players who might actually threaten the opposition goals and plays a system that does not require you to defend a deficit. Time a few people woke up and smelled the coffee or is that a hint of gravy in the air ?

The vast majority of clubs in this county voted for Harte to stay so Bill, go you along to your local club meeting (I don't know who it is but they probably voted for Harte to stay) and tell them that you are sick of paying a few pounds to go and watch Tyrone play and that they need to wake up and smell the coffee because you believe Mickey Harte tactics are wrong. Tell them how pissed off you are and demand that they to listen to you and next time the vote for Mickey to leave comes up they should follow your advice. There's no point venting on here, nobody on here can make a difference but I'm sure, once they work out who you are, the lads in your local club will be glad to hear what you have to say.

Serious amount of canvassing done in this area to keep Mickey by a local county board club delegate and ex fixtures chairman.....

great post jp and i also couldnt agree more. seen gavin devlin at the game in carrickmore last night but no mickey. usually dont see one without the other. any chance devlin gettin the chop as mickey 'freshens up' the backroom team?
If its anything like the time that McCann got the chop Gavin may keep an eye out in the papers as MH certainly won't tell him to his face.

I this true that Mickey never told fergal mccann to his face....find that hard to believe...

a very enjoyable victory last evening, Dromore had one wide in the game, and in those conditions that is an impressive stat. We had 6/7 wides, so we had the lions share of chances. first half was very even, the first 15 of the second half belonged to Dromore as we struggled to get ball and they made great use of possession. Then there changes made by the line and you could see the game turning as we pressed, we took over the last ten, only one winner at that point. One poster earlier said Dromore will be kicking themselves for not finishing the job, does that mean he thought Dromore would have the ball the entire second half against a team like Clonoe, I don't think so.It not like Dromore missed chances, they didn't. So Clonoe were always going get a run of possession, it was up to them to create scores in that period. The benches of both teams impacted, Clonoe had a bench, Dromore  didn't. It boiled down when the game was in the melting pot who would you put your money on.

was a great game-  Would Cassidy have been on bother staying on if Clonoe were beat - a lot of supporters behind me were shouting abuse at him when he took off colly dorris (who was quiet on the night) and dorris himself didn't look happy to be taken off

Hard to know but the changes made last night was us the game.... he took some chance taking Colly off but Shane OHagan swung the game back in our favour so we cant argue about it....

Thats why he gets the big bucks in Clonoe, to make those kind of decisions.  You get what you pay for son & Clonoe are paying for championships

More to do with Ricey going off injured than anything Cassidy changed. Once he went off Dromore's organised defense became dragged all over the place.
so mc aliskey and O Hagans impact was all due to riceys absence, who literally never touched leather. here is another view, the last twelve minutes was the first the dromore defence came under serious sustained pressure and they collapsed, heres another different view, Lavery went to Mc Carron, who was very good, and dragged him everywhere but the centre where the gaps appeared.

The best team lost on the night. I think Ricey going off had a major impact on the game not because of his organising skills but the fact Febian O Neill Came on.  He was lost at sea. Serve case of small man syndrome.  Trying to throw his (lack of) weight about. Think he lost the ball on the Clonoe 45 for the clonoe goal and he was well and truly caught out by McAliskey from a kick out that put Clonoe 2 up (although the keeper is more to blame for this).  O Hagan done well for clonoe when he came on.  Doris was non-existent in full forward and when he came out the field in the second half he was to laboured on the ball.  Slowed the play down to much.  He didnt look happy coming of but proved to be the right decision.  Great servant for Conoe but his best years appear to be behind him.

The "best" team forgot to finish the game out when they where in the prime position to win it so as we know in a tight enough game the team who finishes a tight championship game the strongest normally will win we finished stronger than dromore and deserved to beat them for that alone.....

This is not a dig at Clonoe but i am giving my honest opinion.  Of all the teams or clubs in Tyrone Clonoe is one i have great repect for. You find that the best team on the night doesnt always win.  Can you not accept that over the 60 mins last night Dromore where the best team?  I played football for many years and have won games against teams that played better than us and have lost games where we were the better team.

Can't really disagree with what you are saying..... hard to beat honest debate without snipping and smart alicks... a 8/9 minute wobble cost Dromore dearly looked up to that stage there was only one winner....
