Shine is minor again this year. Has been troubled by injury for the past few months and I gather did not start in yesterdays minor game. Think it will be a couple of years until he is seen at senior level.

Meath 8-4 ahead at half time. Seem to be well on top in the middle third of the field

Just heard of Con's death. One of the really great GAA Presidents and a man of great integrity. Really was a giant in Cork GAA circles and always had the best interest of the Association at heart. My condolences to all his family.

It was in the qualifiers Ryano that the Royals walloped us. Think an apology to all in Meath is due from you to suggest they would ever be in the TM cup.

I see Paddy Power has Meath favourites at 4/7. I see no reason to diasgree with him. It will be a bit of experience for our lads and I hope the Cavan economy benefits. We benefitted from theor big spending when they played Mayo in the qualifiers couple of years ago - heard some publicans retired on the back of it.

QuoteIt really amazes the anti-intercounty player feeling from the general masses on the board

Not true Hound. One can be suspicious of i GPA and Dessie's gang and be pro inter county player. Most contributors here are anxious that the GAA survives and is not brought down by a greedy clique.

QuoteA government paid grant would have put an end to the pay-for-play debate for years

No it would not. The GPA have a pay for play agenda and would have trousered any grant from government and continued chipping away at the Pay for Play agenda. You should remember GPA is essentially a commercial organisation rather than an organisation solely interested in players welfare.

QuoteWhat the fu*k are Carlow doing playing in an Ulster Minor league?

Think it was part of the Good Friday agreement!! DUP demanded it  ;D

Hear Carlow could be dark horses. Think they beat Meath and drew with Cork in a challenge game a few weeks back.

Yes it was 2004. Whatever about the replay it was there for Sligo to win the first day in the Hyde with 10 mins to go but they did not take it. It will  be close this year - predicted at start of the year a Mayo/Sligo CF and will stick with that. Ye owe them a few too!!

Quotehaven't won in the Hyde since 1971 though.

That was the day the Hyde was opened. Ye have thrown away a couple since there - 98 and was it 2003 when it was a draw and we won replay

QuoteA hesitant vote for Galway - Johno will certainly have an article any of these days making them overwhelming favourites
.

He will just have to pull out a few old articles - change Mayo to Galway on the word processor and the job is done. :D

QuoteA convenient 3-4 week break. Munster now officially a hurling province

Munster was always a hurling province SDC. Time Kerry realised this and decide to take part. Opting for the soft football option cannot continue for ever.  ;D

Limerick were the only team to take a point off Donegal. They play Cork in Cork - it was close enough in the recent league game up to about the last 10 mins when Cork pulled away - after Galvin went off injured. If Morgan picks a team with forwards who can score Cork should win. If he selects a team with forwards who are converted backs and midfielders then anything can happen. If Cork win the U21 AI it could have a knock on effect on the seniors and I would fancy them for Munster.

QuotePeadar Gardiner must have let the occasion get to him as he was captain

Gardiner does not seem to perform on the big day. Was a big disappointment also last Sept

So its Cork v Laois in the final. Should be a good game. Was it 2 or 3 years ago they met at Minor level in Limerick and a few suspensions followed!! I expect it will be close again but Cork may just have the edge - if Laois win they will have beaten a good Cork team.
