Nally - I think he was just trying to get the rise out of me (or at least I hope he was) although I was once called a foreign b**tard in Castlebar once and told to go home to my own country so you know maybe its a Mayo thing?

I think it's not just Mayo. It seems to be Galway too. Went there a few years back. Sober as a judge and got turned away from two bars in one night upon showing my ID. One of those bars I got the same response you did..."f**k off back to your own country", the other the doorman just explained awfully politely that they didn't want "nordies" about.

In fairness NS pubs in Galway city are notorious for (or were anyhows) refusing entry for any old reason.................. wouldn't really put it down to your accent/ place of birth. I have made my views known on Galway city in previous threads.

Thats true, I went to Uni there a long time back and I used get some hassel getting into CP's, first it was your not over 21, then the law was changed, then it was your wearing the wrong shoes, then I got real nice shoes, then it was your too drunk, then I started going with zero drink, then it was too many lads, so I went with a woman, then it was the womans drunk, ffs. Galway bouncers were right gits.

Have noticed it's better to stay away for nightclubs in Galway those bouncers have plenty of issues.

Did anyone here see Barcelona's 9-0 cup win last night? If Barcelona & Real Madrid were to both make progress to the quarter-finals they would meet each other in a two-legged tie on 18 and 25 January.

Britain are really lacking in sports stars. Who the hell is Cavendish anyway?

Just the winner of the Green jersey in the Tour de France and the World Champion cyclist 2011.  By next year he should have won more tour stages than any other cyclist and will probably be the Olympic champion.

That's alot of should's and probably's. Will he be the next Neil Armstrong then?
What the first man on Mars?

It's obvious if Croke's beat Cross they will be odds on in the final as result little pressure on the other two sides.

Recessions in the past people couldn't afford the price of flights if they wanted to emigrate they had to endure long distance travel by boat, nowadays most can fork out big money for far fling flights with the option of returning within the year if things are not working out.

Paul McGrath on Suarez pre-match shirts "I would have been much happier if Liverpool had worn anti-racism t-shirts."

All this talk about the Cross/Crokes game being the real final is some craic altogether. It is a toss up Syferus alright but it is a 4 sided coin that needs tossing. Crokes have a real point to prove against us so they have something to work on, Brigids were probably the best team in the country last year but lost the final on the line, Garrycastle are a very strong hard working side and in Dolan have the best forward bar Gooch left in the competition. They beat the Dublin champions through an effective game plan and an unreal capacity to work. To put it in perspective that Brigids team beat us a short while back. I for one see no weak teams left, each one with something worth playing for.

The break has come at a bad time for Cross on the form of the last few months they wouldn't be stopped in the quest for another All Ireland but now some of that momentum will be lost.

Adam is usually a good penalty taker although that was poor attempt tonight. Two home games next against teams in poor form anything other than six points will be disastrous.

Liverpool could learn a thing or two from Chelsea's statement

"Chelsea Football Club today received notification from the Crown Prosecution Service that John Terry has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

John has made it clear he denies the charge and is determined to do all he can to prove his innocence.

Chelsea FC has always been fully supportive of John in this matter and there is no question that we will continue to be so.

The club finds all forms of discrimination abhorrent and we are proud of the work we undertake campaigning on this important issue.

Chelsea will not be commenting further on the subject while the legal process runs its course"
