September 25, 2007, 10:12:59 PM
Stephen was teaching in Bellaghy up until recently but left for a post closer to home. Im not 100% sure where but its in a school around his own parish, either Gortin or the Plum.

GAA Discussion / Re: Dinner Dance Guest Speakers

All I ask is that no one considers getting Adrian Logan. He is only to glad to speak, take his cheque and go back to Havelock House and forget his roots. He should not benefit in any way from the GAA as he is responsible for the sport content on UTV and it is clear for all to see that he would rather show soccer than gaelic games unless there is scandal involved.

I would bet my last pound that all gaa journalists read this site and hope that some of them will pick this up and bring it to a wider audience. Nudge nudge Mr Heaney.

Heartfelt sympathies to the Breen family and all the family circle. A parents worst nightmare.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling
September 05, 2007, 12:57:35 PM
Unfortunately its true and a devastating blow for the Breen family, the Drumquin Club and the Dregish Club. He was a well mannered youngster from a lovely family who went out to football training and didnt return home.  For those of us with children its a case of our worst nightmare coming true. I dont want to add to the speculation but at this stage I dont think it was a cardiac problem. Condolences to the Breen family circle you will be in our prayers for what will be a few very tough days ahead.

Deel Rover, 5ivetimes,

Its a derv alright. A great going machine when its going and to be honest it has never completly stopped but its the wee niggly things that have give bother. Indictaor and brake lights going every couple of months. A door handle fell off, £300 quid for a new one to boot!, the radio just give up one day fro no reason and came back on in the middle of the night and drained the battery. Brake pads only lasting 10,000 miles, and im not a fast driver. I just seem to have had no luck with it, the fella who services her is a bmw technician and he has advised to get rid as a few of them give these unexplained problems and then the brian gives up, apparently its rare enough but I have decided to trade her in asap as the wife drives it and im worried it will let her down in the middle of nowhere some day.

Its either going to be an Audi Q7 or a Range Rover. Any opinions on either 5ivetimes? Or I might just stick with the tried and tested landcruiser.

I bought what I thought was going to be my dream car last year, a BMW X5. It has give nothing but bother ever since. A nightmare to buy parts for and I will be changing back to a Landcruiser at the earliest opportunity. The aul fella wasnt wrong when he said that anything with an engine or tits will always give bother.

GAA Discussion / Re: Shane Ryan - Cheeky but decent
August 07, 2007, 09:05:17 AM
Whilst its not a very revealing interview I think Shane Ryan comes across very well in it. He is a player I have a lot of time for. He has made the most of his talents and plays the game in the correct manner. I think he is the type of player who is happy enough in the background but he is as important at midfield to Dublin as Whelan is.

Its nice that Crossan, for a change, has decided not to write about either Cliftonville or his amatuer soccer career. Its a pity that although he is talking about a different subject he is still spouting shite. Apart from Heaney the standard of the gaa jounalism at the Irish News is very poor. I challenge anyone to read his anaylsis after a game and actually make any sense of what he writes. While we are on the subject of the Irish News, Kenny Archer is even worse. He would be better writing about soccer full time as all he ever wants to write about is Liverpool. Thats fine and welll but the average buyer of the I.N. wants to read about GAA and not about ground football.

If McCloy doesnt recover who would we play at Full Back? We look short of cover at number 3. Plenty of corner man but none for the edge of the square.

You obviously couldnt manage to leave your own club loyalties aside when you picked your own!

Carragher? Finnan and Hyppia in the subs, Jesus wept.

Ditto for national pride.

Irwin?

Any team with Ginola in it could never be taken seriously and Physcho was an average player, no more no less.

Back to the drawing board Laoislad.

Enda Muldoon?

FFS the man has an allstar award already.

Kevin McCloy is a major doubt for the Q-Final. He has a very badly fractured finger that was initially damaged against Mayo and got another bad knock very early on against Laois. This might go someway to explaining his hesitant pperformance under the high ball. If the game was next weekend he would definelty not be able to play and they are hoping another weeks healing time might be enough for him but his chances are less than 50/50 at the minute.

Dreamer,

I think that there is very clear t.v. evidence that it went the wrong side of the post about 10 feet above the ground.

Omagh would be the spot for this. Can hold 20,000+ and has a great new covered stand.
