Would be aged 77 today if still around. Younger that Mick Jagger,Paul McCartney,Bob Dylan,Willie Nelson,Rod Stewart to name but a few who are still performing. And 77 years old Dolly Parton recently brought out a new album.

You could boil them all down and make a consume - and Freddy would have still spanked them all. What a talent.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of people in a position of power or influence feeling the ramifications of being bias to the one side they have clear connections to. Very disappointed with people like Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan and their lack of impartiality in this issue as well.

Peterson is very disappointing.

Peterson is exactly what you'd expect.

Interesting take on Saka. Certainly gone off the boil a little bit and is double teamed every time he is on the ball. I think he needs a few games rest, playing him against Lens really annoyed me. I haven't considered his efforts lazy however. Against Newcastle again at the weekend they just took turns booting him around the park.

Odegard cutting a very frustrated player on the field with his high pressing efforts and looks around and is chasing shadows by himself.

I do think the lack of a plan B in an attacking sense is a major issue.

That said, it was a dumb lucky goal that could have easily been struck off against a team who had played with 11 men when it should have been 10. Certainly happy that the soft underbelly of teams gone by (for whom Arteta played) is definitely gone, and this team is happy to go toe to toe on a wet night up north.

Quote from: thewobbler on November 01, 2023, 10:04:11 PMArteta has terminated 9 contracts since arriving at Arsenal.

That's how to change the culture of a club and it's the approach United have to take, starting with Martial, Sancho and honestly, Rashford. If trying hard and being a team player is too much for a player, he has to go.

Arteta in his first two seasons with Arsenal finished 8th in the league. It's not like ETH hasn't been trying to change the culture in now his 2nd season at the club and he's either sold or released Cavani,Pogba,Matic,Pereira,Ronaldo,De Gea,Jones,Telles,Elanga,Fred,Bailly to name but a few.

They'd beat the current side you'd wager

Not convinced by Reya at all, and haven't seen anything that justifies the change that was made.

Arsenal very tidy and more solid across the midfield than in recent years - but lacking a plan B up front.

If they could somehow make a proper striker out of Super Eddie it would be good going.

General discussion / Re: Lough Neagh

Quote from: AustinPowers on October 05, 2023, 10:26:45 PMAnd those Zebra  mussels would need to feck off back to their own country!  (I think I've been  following Kilcooney too long on twitter)

It's a shame what has been allowed to happen to it with invasive species. Tahoe, on my doorstep, has the most stringent of boating policies, paddleboard and fisherman polices (considering half of the lake is in California it is not surprising). If your boat leaves the water (as in you don't buy a buoy or a docking station), you are screened upon re entry. All of the lakes in the sierras have the same policy for those boating nomads that don't dock in Tahoe year round. Yet this year a new invasive species of snail (New Zealand mud snails whatever the f**k they are) arrived in Tahoe, posing a significant threat to the ecosystem and a lake whos clarity and sheer amazingness drives billions in tourism. What boating restrictions are in place in Lough Neagh? A huge part of this is the landed gentry that own the basin and the soil - but sometimes (and I am ready to be corrected), in Ireland our own halfassery is complicit in our issues. Florida Everglades and the Burmese Python are a clear example of what an invasive species can do to a local ecosystem.

Yeah, I read it repeatedly. Still not sure what you're actually saying in regards to McIlroy.

Quote from: bennydorano on October 02, 2023, 06:51:49 PMGolf is one of the few sports i cant really warm to, the Ryder Cup 'competitive' element just seems so contrived when you follow sports where hair & teeth are flying regularly. Mcilroy obviously gets so wound up about it all, a few derby slaps when younger might have changed his outlook on life, tho I'm sure he's quite happy with his current life trajectory.

Why does he need his outlook on life changed? Strange comment

If you've ever stood over a putt that means anything at all (particularly in a team game) and had to make it for the win or tie, it's the emotional equivalent of teeth and hair flying inside you. It's a silent hatred against the opponent for that period of time where you simply want to stomp someone who may be your best mate into the ground on the scorecard. Just because it doesn't end up all Kilcoo and Clonduff doesn't take away from the competitive edge. Just look at the amount of people driven to cheating to win.

I can't imagine the pressure to have a putt to win or to not lose the Ryder Cup.

Prefer Gabriel in the back. Like Partey and White being on the field. Doesn't square up however with Saliba and Rice

Like Zinchencho on against the lesser teams - we're more creative when he has the ball

Suggestions 2 members of the travelling community were in the bar looking for a bit of a fight. No one took them on, they were told to leave and stabbed the young man outside.

Terrible waste of life, and whomever was involved should never see the light of day again.

Just don't see the impact of Havertz. Haven't watched him too closely, or maybe when I've watched him he just doesn't seem impactful. Almost got the sense in the last 2 games that he was in the way of things rather than contributing to things. Was a strange buy.

Predictions lads?

Fair to say we can expect the domestic double, and probably lose a CL Semi Final on penalties.

Should be a good season.

If you are communicating using iMessage (blue background to blue background) that is data (internet or wifi) driven and is not considered an SMS and is free from one iPhone to any other iPhone (or indeed iPad) and wouldn't/shouldn't count towards a text message allowance on a plan.

Which drives me mental when the parents and brother have iPhones yet insist on texting me using WhatsApp "Because WhatsApp is free".
