I also thought Mayo's subs and changes were strange, O'Shea was winning lots of ball and he was benched when they needed a ball winner. There was at least 8 others that could have been subbed before him, most of their team was anonymous or poor. Even though O'Hora was getting done by Basquel at least he could make positive runs forward and energy. Others offered nothing. Many Mayo players you'd barely know they played their names weren't mentioned at all.

Agreed. Mayo didn't have the physical strength to win clean ball at midfield or break lines, and had no target man to change things up. Even a tired AOS would have been a better option for those roles than anyone who came on.
they were the disappointment of the weekend. I honestly thought they had more about them than that. Might be time to move from OSe. They've never worked out how to use him and at this stage are unlikely to ever do so

Kerry and Dublin have shown this weekend to be a real level above the rest. Derry/Monaghan are going to need to do something extraordinary to prevent a Kerry v Dublin AI final
You're probably right but we should also say that both Mayo and Tyrone were really poor this weekend

Trying to work out the draw

Monaghan cant play Derry but can play Kerry or Dublin
Derry can't play Monaghan but can play Kerry or Dublin
Kerry cant play Dublin (becuase derry cant play monaghan)
Dublin cant play kerry (as above)

For all Mayos 1st half play dublin were 1 ahead at the break and they'd kicked 3 balls into the keepers hands plus a few bad wides.

McCaffery and Kilkenny coming on as subs when you're 7 points down. That's tough for Mayo

How to fk is Tyrone  v Kerry the first game?
Makes no sense. Surely the Mon & Armagh support would stay to watch such a game
Can't see the same interest in the second one - most neutrals in Ireland would have no massive  interest in Mon v Armagh on tv - but most of Ireland would want to watch a tyrone v Kerry 6pm game

I'd say Kerry requested the earlier time due to the travel involved. You could have parts of Kerry with 4/5 hours drive home. If the game went to extra time they'd have a very late finish. Armagh/Monaghan lot closer so suit the later throw in time.
last train to Tralee is at 7. They wouldn't make that with the later throw in

Watched the kildare monaghan game again. Jaysis the referee played with Kildare for most of that game.

Dunno about  that. He gave Monaghan two of the handiest scorable frees you'd ever see in the first half.

We can talk all day about cameras and angles but some of these were in front of the ref. I'd say he's done for the summer

Shocking decision for penalty. Ref ruining it.
Clear foot block lol
Stupid needless rule.

It's a rule because it's dangerous.
Can easily result in broken ankle for the kicker.
Or so the urban myth goes.
The incident in that game was not in any way dangerous. A foot block where a player uses his foot to block a ball that has clearly left the opponent's foot is no more dangerous than a block using hands, arms, chest whatever. I've played and watched a lot of football in my time and I can only recall ever seeing an actual dangerous 'foot block' once, but I've heard many's a roar from spectators for one!
It's like square ball, unpoliceable, so just get rid of it.
The action it attempts to stamp out could be covered by other types of dangerous play - no need for the specific naming of a part of the body.

Is that tackle ok then during play on any part of the pitch by any player?

So basically you're saying throwing your feet to block the ball is fine
The foot block is used in every soccer match, In all my years watching I don't remember one injury to the kicker.
It's a needless rule backed up by an urban myth.
No comparison with the foul play should an opposing player kick out the ball when it is about to be picked up.

But it's a rule and everyone knows that they run the risk of a ref applying the rules, ref's are dammed if they don't implement the rules and (as above) dammed if they do!
That's the point. You might not like the rule but it is a rule and its up to the ref to enforce it. I don't like the pick up rule. I think its adds nothing to the game and I'd like if the men followed the women and scrapped it. However until they do I'll have to put up with it.

Are ye for real ?
The day the pick up rule goes, as per the women, im finished
Nothing against the woman's game but there's nothing as amuetirish looking as that
OK - we'll agree to differ on that but the point is that its a rule and even though we mighn't like it, its still a rule and its the refs job to enforce the rules

Its a foul but no need for the theatrics from mayo. His face wasn't touched

Went to Tullamore with my Monaghan cousin. He's quite possibly the most biased person you could sit beside at a match but he had a point today. The ref was awful. Hosed Monaghan in the 1st half. Didn't give frees for obvious fouls and then gave petty frees for very little. Kildare were moaning at the end but i honestly dont know why. They had a free in from the 45 (again very soft) near the end but the taker clearly fouled the ball so a throw up was the right call there. A monghan player called for a mark in the last play but he didnt give so its just play on. Kildares own fault for stopping. He even gave Kildare a point that looked wide from my seat but that's more on the umpire i suppose. Kildare fans will disagree on my analysis but one thing I think everyone will agree with is that this ref isn't up to this level. The match itself was dire. Kildare often had 14 or even 15 in their own 45. The tactic was to draw Monaghan, turn them over and break at speed. It nearly worked. Monaghan played into their hands by constantly carrying the ball into contact and then getting turned over.

On a brighter note the minor game was really enjoyable. 2 teams trying to play the game properly

Ref is brutal
Shouldn't be allowed to referee a junior B game, no disrespect to junior B

He's let 3 high tackles by Kildale defenders go. The last one on the number 10 was dangerous

Paddy Power have England at evens and the Aussies at 4/5
