Smort, to explain........
Tyrone's fixtures:
Derry away - going on last weeks game i would say Derry will fancy this
Mayo at home - if Tyrone dont win in Derry this will become a must win game and Tyrone will still be fielding a fairly inexperienced side - depends on how strong Mayo field
Kildare away - we can normally beat Kildare but is no gimme and they seem in good form under Jason Ryan
Kerry away - tough match as always
Westmeath at home - will win this one
Cork away - tough match - Cork can handle Tyrone
Dublin home - tough match and at the end of the league Dublin will be going strong and looking forward to the test.

When you look at the fixtures it shows how vital the first 2 games are. Two wins are crucial (especially in Derry) and i think Tyrone are going to find those games very difficult given that they are likely to be without the likes of Gormley, O'Neill, Penrose, The McMahons........and Mark Donnelly and the Cavanaghs will have played no football to date.

General discussion / Re: Jamie Bryson

I was listening to Frank Mitchell interviewing Bryson this morning about the GAA and it was very annoying to listen to. Then a fella 'D' from Ardoyne (said he played for Kickhams) came on and he made me even more annoyed than Bryson with his views on the GAA.
I know that NEITHER of them were speaking about the people i know involved in GAA but they were given the air time and if i was a person who knew nothing about the organisation i would be loathe to get involved after listening to them. Lots of people phoned, texted, tweeted etc to the programme to convey their anger but those two got more time to put their points across and they were both very extreme (they should put them both on a pitch with a hurl and hockey stick and let them kick lumps out of eachother!!!!!). :)

It was not a massive shock that Strabane beat Trillick, Augher beat Edendork at same stage last year. There is not a lot of difference between a lot of teams in Division 1 and 2. If the teams below were in the same division it would be ultra competitive and this is a mixture of teams from the divisions. Does anyone think any of these teams would be too good or that any of them would not be able to compete if this was a league next year?
Cookstown
Killyclogher
Moy
Donaghmore
Augher
Eglish
Trillick
Greencastle
Derrylaughan
Moortown
Galbally
Strabane
Urney

General discussion / Re: European City break

Hi Guys, I am going to Paris in December for 4 nights. Can anyone give me advice on the following please:
1. Best way to get from Charles DE Gaulle to city centre hotel?
2. Going to Eurodisney for 1 day. What is best way to do this??
3. Any restaurants to recommend?
4. Was thinking of doing the on/off bus tour. Is this a good idea?
5. Any other tips or advice?

Thanks
1. Train directly into Gare du Nord - most straightforward and cheapest way.  Get a taxi at Gare du Nord or jump on the Metro to the stop nearest to your hotel.  Have done it a few times.
2. Best way is to go by train to the train station just beside Eurodisney, Marne la Vallee. Go from Gare du Lyon or Nation stations in Paris city centre.  It is just at the gate to Eurodisney so no long walks required.
3. Steak restaurant chain Le Relais is good - you don't get any choice though!  Just amazing steaks.  What area are you staying in - I have been to a few others but they're fairly spread out.
4. The tour is good, yes, there are plenty of companies that offer them.  We got on at Notre Dame.  It coves the main sights and the one I took had audio through headphones rather than a live tour guide.
5. Don't leave out exploring the square to the side of Sacre Coeur with all the artists.  Monmartre itself is a bit dirty at the bottom of the hill but the buzz around the square up the hill is one of my favourite things about Paris.

Thanks Rois
The hotel we are staying in is near the Arc De Triomphe. There is a Le Relais nearby so i will try that thanks. Do we need to book train tickets for the airport to city before we go or are they easily bought when we get there? Have you or anyone got any ideas on a special place to bring the wife (apart from shops!!!!!!!)???
Thanks again

Errigal for Saturday:

11:00 AM – U13 Grade 1 Semi v Galbally
11:15 AM – ACFL Reserves v Cookstown
12:45 AM – ACFL v Cookstown
3:30 PM – Junior RFC v Killyman
3:45 PM – Minor Championship Final v Ardboe

That is way beyond a joke - surely the club have asked for changes and these changes are going to be granted???????? I know other clubs are in similar positions and should have asked for changes to be made as well? How could they possibly be refused????????

Are Errigle minors and seniors playing on Saturday?
Are Aghaloo minors and seniors playing on Saturday?
Are Fintona minors and seniors playing on Saturday?
Are Moy playing on Saturday with or without Sean Cavanagh?
Are all cubs fielding in reserve championship?

Thanks

There are no easy solutions to the fixtures situation but it really does seem to be getting worse and was very bad this year due to:
Tyrone getting to National League Final
Tyrone beat by Donegal and getting run in back door
Minors making All Ireland final
Club championships having to be crammed into very short space and leaving no room for league fixtures

Next year Tyrone have been drawn in prelim round against Down in middle of May - that is going to cause the same kind of chaos next year.
Maybe the club leagues should start earlier - most clubs play friendlies or Ulster League games anyway. Personally i would like to see the club championship start at end of May/start of June but only if there were about 8 league games played. The way it is at present there is no time to enjoy a win as the next round if more often than not the following week. Even for the winners of the O'Neill Cup on Sunday they will play Ballinderry a week later.
Overall though it is a very difficult situation but it wasnt always like this - it has become worse over the last decade due to:
Tyrone success
The Back Door
Games called off because of Minors and Under 21s
Failure of the CCC to stick to the rules (7 and 13day) or stand up to county managers
Failure of the CCC to use common sense (A LOT OF THE TIME)

If Ciaran McLaughlin etc are serious about the sport this is something they need to address URGENTLY.

Was talking to an angry Urney man this morning (and thats not a good thing!)........apparently Stewartstown had told the county board they werent going to turn up on Sat so the match has been changed to Monday. Urney are now threatening to do the same as they could be without players on a Monday night. Absolute farce..............as NDA said club players are treated like absolute s***e.............

Very very impressive from EC last night, must make them favourites now though Clonoe and Carmen will give them something to think about. As for this weekend i think Clonoe will win routinely enough but if the Cavanaghs perform Moy could test Trillick to the limit. One thing on that game, can anyone explain how Paul Rouse is playing for Moy? Dont think he is living or working there.............

Another famous example was Ardboe having to play midweek after they lost to Dromore in championship final http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_G26UKH8Kk
