I understand Mick wants to try out new players and tactics before things get serious. But should he not be trying to get a more consistent team together so they can gell?

Hurling Discussion / Re: Galway v Antrim NHL

"theskull1" I have maintained that we have to get our own domestic scene right before we concentrate on the County team. The lack of club games during the good weather is nothing short of disgracefull. It is by no coincidance that Antrim traditionaly played their best hurling when we had regular competive league and championship club games at home. The Ulster hurling league is a good idea which should be built on. I agree with your post in its entirity.

Well done Dublin. Great to see masive progress. A heartning result for Hurling after hearing Ulsters best three got beat in the twenty point range. Love for Dublin to continue with this progress you never know what could happen.

What ever way you look at it or no matter what reasons we come up with. The bottom line is Antrim have only a handfull of clubs to pick from and our resources are very small. This is why we compete better at club level than County. It is because the areas with the greatest catchments will always come to the top. Places like Offaly are an acception. Who like Antrim have slim pickings but have the advantage of being geographicaly located in the hurling zone.

Plus the added fact that Galway have been punching well below their weight. Loughnane was brought into harness the large pool of talant Galway has and has said himself that if he can't bring an All-Ireland to Galway in two years he will be deemed a failure. I always new this fixture was going to be hell for Antrim. Tough times for Antrim a head but sure were well used to it by now.

Just goes to show how limited Antrim really are. Its going to be another long Season for them. They are clearly out of their depth at this level. The gap between the first rate and secound rate teams in Hurling is massive.

Tyrone 2-9 0-5 Donegal

Christy Colhoun is opposed Donegal's Paddy McConigley and Brian Roper
Tyrone won the Gaelic Life McKenna Cup for the fourth year in a row by beating Donegal at Healy Park on Saturday.
The Red Hands had Kevin Hughes sent-off for two yellow but soon afterwards got their first goal when Colm McCullagh netted a left-foot shot on 54 minutes.

Sean Cavanagh got Tyrone's goal late on with the match already won.

Brendan Devenney got three points for Donegal while Cathal McCarron landed three for Tyrone and Pomeroy prospect Christy Colhoun chipped in with two.

Davy Harte, Ger Cavlan, Sean Cavanagh and McCullagh got the rest of the points for Mickey Harte's men.

Kevin McMenamin and Colm McFadden scored points for Donegal.

The dismissal of Hughes looked harsh and after the game Tyrone boss Harte called for the second yellow card to be rescinded.

"To me it was totally accidental. He was going for the ball and the lad tripped over his feet," said harte.

"I would hope it can be looked at again."

First of all very hard luck to Cushendall. I know the conditions were diabolical but I did notice a deferance from yesterdays game and todays. That was the ability of forwards to make better use of position and run at defenses there for leaving gaps. In the first half Cushendall wernt really giving they forwards much chance with the type of ball they were playing in. A lot of balls were just balloned and one forward tried to stop before stiking the ball and was susquently blocked. In the secound half they made much better youse of position which should have yielded more scores. Cushendall are a very young team and the experiance will stand to them. I must say their defence  was excellant. I also think the final could be closer than some people think.

I here Colm Mc Cullagh scored three points tonight. I think he is a livley talanted forward. Tyrone are shaping up nicely. Were Fermanagh missing many lads ?

Antrim / Re: ANTRIM HURLING

"Johnneycool" just when your on the subject a bout Eoin Kelly he's up given Cushendall a few training session's. Last week Cushendall lost a challenge to UCC by around 2-17 to 1-11. College Hurling can be a very high standard plus the fact Cushendall had a heavy training session the day before it. So its very hard to learn anything from that.

Declan Mc Killop is doubtfull after tearing a muscle. Two weeks ago a lad from Cork was up training Cushendall as-well. Apparently the lads trained Friday, Saturday and Sunday trying to make full youse of the trainer. It rained all weekend and now some of the lads were suffering from the flu. Other than that I don't know any further information  on Cushendall's preparation's.
