QuoteHow then do we explain Cookstown who appear to have held on to a lot of these Tyrone representatives but still are not setting the world alight.

The current Cookstown team has very few of the lads that won U-14 and U-16 tyrone league and Championships 8/9 years ago.  If you are looking for them you will find them down at the Conway inn or the Gaslight on a friday nite.

Also can I just say...Fionntamhnach you are totally correct in your analysis of the Cookstown team not carrying forward to Senior.  Most of the guys that represented Tyrone at the Feile in donegal 8 years ago play soccer for Tobermore/Cookstown Athletic etc.

Tyrone managed to get their Club Championshiop under way 2 weeks before County team played.  So second round is taking place this weekend.  6 days after County played.  Fun and games.  I would imgine that would be the last of the county games until the semi-final is over.  i could be wrong offcourse.

Supposedly drinking...Hes a big loss to Antrim.  But have to respect Jody's decision.  There was talk about him really cleaning his act up...think Mickey Moron might have something to do with that and the possibly of getting back in again but obviously not.

Slim is there any word on Mark Dougan getting back into the Antrim panel or has he burnt all bridges there?

The truth of the matter is simple.  Big Joe to a point is right...If the match had of been in Clones more fans would have travelled from Armagh and probably the same from Donegal.  At £14 a ticket to stand in Ballybofey as  tyrone man i cannot blame Armagh fans from staying away.  Clones on Sunday was a joke.  No student prices.  I go to nearly every Tyrone game I can.  The only NFL fixture I missed was the Dublin game as I was away on holidays.  Yet even if my county get to ALL-Ireland final...I can be sure I will struggle to get a ticket!  The GAA is getting worse.

Donegal are right to have their home fixture.  Thier chances are better at home than if they had to go to Clones.  Clones has turned into Armaghs second home from home.

P.S. I think the price of tickets is keeping the neutral fan away now aswell.  It use to be I would never miss a Championship game in Ulster.  Travelled anywhere with the Dad.  Now it is just not feasible.

Sorry for the rant! :-)  Keep er lit!

The new Cookstown manager is Declan O'Neill.  Yer man is right there...he was joint manager with Brian McGuckin in managing the Vocational Schools!!!  Unproven at senior level.  Use to manage underage at Cookstown with Ned Coyle and his brother Kieran.  Decent lad would be good to see him do well!

My opinion for what its worth...probably not alot...but

You will see kevin hughes moved into ff and mellon put into mid field.  Colm Cavanagh out to number 12.  Hughes only has to break the ball and niall gormley and colm mccullagh will be there or there abouts.  Team may line out as planned but after 10/15 minutes if nothing happens you could see this happening?

What you think lads?  Muzz for next county manager?  he has my vote ;-)

Criostlinn has a point Red Nose.  If on your slip you have 6/4 how can the bookies pay out at 4/6?

I'm not getting into the argument I am just curious as I might have to start writing on and against just to make sure ;-)  Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully you wont have to change your name to Red Faced Red Hand.

BTW...after the tyrone team named tonight...no mugsy...mcginley...surely them odds for Fermanagh plus 7 are going further in?

Anyone found them at evens yet even for plus 5?

Im a tyrone fan and you will not be surprised to learn I feel Marsden should have been sent off...BUT...the reaction of Jordan was uncalled for.  Marsden yes went/did punch Jordan so therefore deserved to go.  Jordan may have ran at Marsden aggeressively but he did not have his hands raised.

As for Tyone being a team of divers...in todays game the rules have allowed for teams to take advantage of this.  And yes Tyrone have got a name for this.  It seems easier to go down now than try to avoid a tackle.  This does not always fend well for Tyrone though...as in the last game of the NFL Tyrone should of had at least 2 penalties and did not recieve any.  Mulligan was adjudged to be diving...Referee way behind the play.  The main issue is though if Mulligan dived why wasnt he booked?  Would this not stop people going down?

Coalisland destroyed Omagh 2-19 to 1-8.  And Ardboe beat Stewartstown 2-13 to 0-8 at Edendork ;-)
