GAA Discussion / Re: RTE League Sunday

I couldn't care less about that to be honest.
The problem we have now is commentators that try to be 'characters' with pointless anecdotes and folksy mucksavagery.
Give me someone like Darragh Maloney, who just says what's happening on the pitch, over that tired stereotype any day of the week.

This.
Moloney, despite not being a GAA man at all, is the best RTE commentator right now. No bullsh*t or ramblings a la Morrissey/Canning.

Fairly hefty suspensions/fines. There will be appeals of course, but if anybody who has clearly been identified on video evidence as breaching the rules gets a walk on appeal, it will only tarnish the image of the association further. €5k is a big fine for a club. I guess it may act as a detterent for the future.

Written by Conor McCarthy, former Cork player. It raises some very serious issues about the training elite GAA players espeacially are doing these days.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling

Well done to Derrytresk, was at the game today and they were deserving winners. Very impressed with the corner forward, Gavin? I think his name was?
Some of the conduct of the Derrytresk players and supporters was disgraceful though. I won't go into detail, but at least 1 Dromid player was attacked after the game which is not on. Why the hell you would even go near an opposition player when you should be celebrating I don't know.

I know its not nice dredging it all up again, but have they actually charged someone with the murder or whats the situation? Seemed fairly amateurish carry on from what I remember of the last reports i saw.

Wouldnt imagine it will be a full house.........................................40,000 id say or thereabouts, handful of flours, likewise reds, 10 kerry folk, dubs will make up the numbers as usual

Kerry & Kildare wins ..........................hope mcgeeney has the hair cut by then

Ah now, there'll be more than 10 of us...50 at least!

Geezer was down our way over the new year..I can confirm..the hair is well trimmed again!

GAA Discussion / Re: Goal, Save and Point of the Year

Goal of the year: Couple of Darran O'Sull's one's were savage, but Michael Murphy's bullet in the Donegal Co. final was my favourite.

Save of the year: None come to mind really. Brendan Kealy's from Alan Brogan in AI final was decent enough I suppose.

Point of the year: Donaghys equaliser in the final was good and a few others I could mention, but it has to be Cassidy's winner against Kildare. Down got a beautiful score early on in the Cork game in Croker also (can't remember who got it) but there was a lovely reverse pass at the end and a nice finish.

To develop at least 3/4 new players during the League.
To make a decent showing at minor/U-21 level after last year's shambles.
To win the AI Senior.

Had to post this...apparently Ger "prays for the safety oif teammates and opponents" before games?!

I wonder did he pray for Declan O'Sullivan pre AI final before nearly decapitating him?! Seriously though, what sort of shite is that to be coming out with? I think its highly ironic that he is one of the weak links in the dubs team as he is actually pretty reckless and has got quite a few red cards for reckless tackles in recent years! Opinions?

Your a big man alright coming on here and annonymously sneering at a man's faith.

You'd probably want to start doing a bit of praying yourselves down in Kerry. An ageing team with little or no underage talent coming through. Ye are staring into the abyss and slagging off a young lads religious beliefs will hardly help matters

:-\ Yeah we really need to pray alright.

Listen, this isn't an anti-Dublin thing, I've lived there for a long time and know many good football people there and would often defend them in debates. This is just a spectacular piece of bullsh*t by Ger Brennan (who may very well be a nice guy who said this tongue in cheek or whatever) and that is merely what I was pointing out.

What a man...he wasnt at corner forward just making up the numbers either..just pipped for MoM by Declan Sullivan who got 6pts. Here is looking as fit and effective as he ever did.

Debates will always rage in Kerry and wherever the sport we love is played about the greatest ever, but he is the most naturally gifted footballer I've seen in 40 odd years of watching the sport. I may be biased but I truly believe that.

GAA Discussion / Re: The Pony

As a Kerry (and ex UCC man) I am biased..but there have honestly been few better defenders than the Pony in my time...a fantastic player who could mix it with the best.

Just a couple of memories to add to the aforementioned.
Circsa 2008..South Kerry v East Kerry in Killorglin..C'ship 1/4 final. John Sugrue is dominating midfield for South Kerry. He fields a 50/50 ball and Moynihan hits him a full on fair shoulder..end of game for Sugrue.
1999 Co. Final, Feale Rgs v East Kerry..Feale Rgs driving forward in 2nd half..centre back Stephen Stack (a strongly built player) steams onto a pass in midfield read to drive forward..Moynihan goes hell for leather for him and hits him..hard..neither player falls..a clash of titans, b ut Feale Rgs momentum is broken.

1990 AI minor final - Kerry struggling v Meath..Seamus surges forward and from 21 yards..slams in a peach of a goal v Meath.

200, AI semi final v Armagh..1st game...dominates McConviille..2nd game...despite conceding 1-2 from play to Oisín..dominates last 1/4 of normal time + extra time..vital factor in Kerry victory.

Proud to have shared a field with him and watched the man in action. More influential than most Kerry players of my genearation.

Well young Declan certainly wasn't praying for Rory O'Carroll when he dived to the ground and feigned injury after the two of them were tangling out by the Hogan stand and Rory got a yellow in the 1st half. I think Declan knows how to get by without prayers.

Not sure where Declan would get the time, as he spends most of his time on the field (along with Donaghy and Gooch) pissing and moaning to the Ref. So much so that I have gone from admiring their footballing ability to actually disliking them. I also have a slight feeling that this constant pissing and moaning is not lost on a lot of Referees.

Yeah great post, really answers the matter in hand...would you have moaned if this happened to a county man of yours in an all ireland I wonder?

Like I've said..this Ger Brennan had little to no influence on the AI final, but this is just total horse crap out of him and/or Hoganstand saying that.

Fail to see what this has to do with Brennan, but since you ,mention it, you're talking complete horseshit...Declan neither dived nor "feigned injury" in the AI final...he got a good kick off O'Carroll but let it be said it didn't.affect the outcome of the game in any way.

Dromid off to England to play Cuchullains from Birmingham I think, in the 1/4 final. Not sure what the draw is after that. They won the Munster final pretty handily yesterday, but Kildangan had a man sent off which made it easier for them.
