Not great for players profile either or chance of sponsorship deals. Why not let them speak and if Mickey doesn't want to speak to RTE so be it? I don't buy that players have decided, they know they can't step out of the line. Players speak to RTE after they leave the panel anyway

The players would seem to back their manager, I wouldn't imagine Sean Cavanagh would be too keen on giving RTE the time of day with the way he has been portrayed by some of their people over the years, nor would Tiernan McCann or Justin McMahon. Joe McMahon came out a couple of years back with a reminder to people the merits of why they don't speak.

The panel of players seem to be a very tight bunch and have a lot of respect and gratitude for Harte which is good to see. I'm pretty sure they're happy to be playing football and aren't too worried about dealing with RTE and would actually feel quite resentful towards them for how they have been depicted.

I think the nonsense being peddled by some here about pressure from sponsors is lads with some sort of axe to grind, I think Harte and the panel are doing the right thing on a matter of principle. RTE have treated the Harte family, Tyrone players and the wider Tyrone GAA community disgracefully so f**k them.

McAleer and Rushe have had plenty of exposure this year from a run to an All Ireland semi-final, I'm sure they're more than happy with that performance. Sad and disappointing to see some people using unconfirmed "sponsor pressure" as a proxy to push an agenda against Harte. How about they show some respect and understanding?

I think you will find I said Mickey is the man for the job and I fully support him staying put. But you are an absolutely deluded armchair fan if you don't understand the money needed today even at club level to compete.

Sponsors weren't happy, end off! You can say they got exposure....they got this.....they got that.... it doesn't matter! Sponsors are simply not lining up anymore and in order to get one a player needs to be available to speak to the media!

I am all for your "f**k the rest, c'mon tyrone" sentiments but in reality money talks and bulls**t walks. Start walking my friend

plenty of options to replace harte who said it had to be an inside man. what about malachy o rourke ryan porter dominic corrigan brian mc ivor paul mc ivor damien cassidy to name a few.
I am hearing a few eastern mens names mentioned for the minor job. O hagan mc cabe and lawn all being talked about

Ryan Porter????? Hardly covered himself in glory at Croke Park this year!!

Quite.

He may be tight with the Dromore fellas, and maybe the Omagh ones too, but I suspect his willingness to take up the role of hatchet man cheerleader with Monaghan would be a bitter pill to swallow for many a Tyrone player... and supporter too!
Malachy on the other hand has been the epitome of a gentleman on the sideline and I would gladly seem him take the promotion from his current position to managing the minors.

lol, nice dig

The big GAA purists here don't seem to realise the cost in running county teams and underage structures today. They are phenominal, an agreement was made to speak to the media. If we don't have the money from sponsors (who aren't lining up anymore then all sections of the county gaa are affected.

On the first night she called at the door of the changing room and asked if a player was available to come out to speak as agreed. She didn't bust in or start shouting demands. She was told where to go! It created bad blood all year with the sponsor. These are business men, if you make an agreement you stick to it.

Mickey is obviously the right man for the job and 100% behind him BUT if he wants the money to run his team like he needs to then he needs to keep the sponsors happy. I couldn't care less about RTE but if it is effecting the future of the GAA in Tyrone then it needs to be addressed.

Listen he will stay and rightfully so but the issue needs ironed out now. CB are acting correctly for once. Would everyone calm down!

Its not an interview, its a talk to try make sure someone speaks to the media. No matter what people say its costs a fortune to run a competitive County team and the sponsors aren't lining up anymore. It needs addressed for the good of the county.

Petety harte will win an allstar, let him talk to rte then appoint him as spokesperson next year, he will say nothing controversial or let anything away, sponsors happy end off!

I'd say they meant joe McMahon as Justin had little game time up until sunday.. very good tho his performance, don't know if it warrants all star, definitely would have McNamee down for one infront of both joe and justin

Justy has had a lot more game time than Joe ffs. Joe didn't come in until the last 10 mins against limerick and only lasted until first 15 v monaghan.

Mc Namee has been superb

I doubt the credentials and commentary from a man who didn't even watch the all Ireland semi final lol.

Love all these lesser counties taking pot shots at tyrone and sean cav. He has clearly broke a lot of hearts over the 14 years he has been playing. every single one of you would dream to have him in your team

Listen most in Tyrone say we were beat fair and square, a lot of the other chatting coming from other counties and the odd one who can't let it go.

Kerry beat us and I personally don't think looked like losing in the 2nd half. We need 2 scoring fwds and a free taker. Its been obvious from the outset that the ones we have would crack under pressure.

We will be back, big cav will stay on and I think we will be a real danger next year. Will be hard though playing from div 2.

Goodluck to Kerry, not fussed who wins from this point

The obvious clear issue here is that we need 2 top class finishers up fron to maybe support cav if he comes back. Mc caliskey, mc curry and morgan bottled it when it mattered. I just don't know where we are going to get them from.

I'm placing a lot of hope in brennan but who else. Possibly Coney worth another shot? Conor O'Donnell from Omagh? he is in serious nick this year. Big Mc Nulty but has he the tempermant and commitment. Can hit a free to.

I think if we got 2 scoring forwards and Mickey o'neill in nets we would not be far away

Mc Geary Burns Hampsey should all come in but they cover positions where we are strong

What do ye do? If the player wants to play for his county you have to respect him, Whether you feel he should be starting for county or not only 15 can so always gonna be someone unhappy.

Its mickeys call and he has seemed to get it spot on this year. Ye don't know how close mc shane is to starting should someone get injured like colm cav so I understand why he doesn't want to risk releasing him

So any chance of some football talk breaking out here?

If JOD doesn't make it who will come in? Donaghy is a not a like for like player so Fitzmaurice would have to come up with a change in tactics. Will we see the gooch return to FF?

Only way Tyrone will give Kerry any sort of a game is by bringing the game into the gutter (which should be no problem for them as they do that in every game) but Kerry have far no many quality players for the hatchet team. Kerry to win pulling up.

I love a poster to ashamed to name his county on his profile!

Talks cheap, it will be sorted one way or another come Sunday. won't be a step taken backwards

Hurling = the precious beautiful game where manly man men go at it - no cynicism

Football and especially tyrone sean cavangh as a man is called into question.

Hurling are lucky they have a positive set of commentators and pundits. Football pundits consistently take a negative stance on things. The revolution will be televised this sunday, wonder does O'Rourke have anymore hats to eat

A bit off course here but has Cake lost his mind (quite probable) or is he roughly correct when he says this?

"I think Mayo are spending in the region of €12,000 to €15,000 euros a week preparing their senior team. That's not being done in a month in Roscommon."

That is crazy money!

Didn't Mayo have to be bailed out by Croke Park a few years ago? There is no way they would be paying that a week. Curran would be partial to talking out of his hoop

The BLACK CARD after Cavanagh fantastic tackle in the Aviva!!! oh sorry my mistake wrong stadium pull down in Croke Park.
And the punishment had he been caught do not fit the crime. Therefore when Congress meet next year you can bet the rule will change to more appropriate sanction MATCH BANS for cheating.

That's us Tyrone ones for you, ground breakers, making the game better for you all!

What McCann did was specifically covered by a rule. To say that this overall rule can be brought in any time we fancy it makes a mockery of the rule book.

It is entirely bizarre.

See my reply to Benny. The same applies in civil law. People are charged with the most serious offence. The DPP decides what law to prosecute under. Milosevic could have been charged with murder or genocide. McCann can be done for diving or discrediting the association. It's perfectly in order. The fact that it's rare doesn't mean it's wrong. In this case, letting this shite grow into the cancer it has was the error the Association made, not deciding to throw the book at McCann.

I'm off for a pint. I don't think I can add to what I've said, but if rrhf or Omadjoe want to continue the whinging I'll be here in the morning.

As a legal professional, I found this hilarious! Someone's been watching Law & Order. What is this offence someone can be charged with under Civil Law??

C'mere, what would be the best establishment to catch the game in Belfast without fear of the foreign game being on instead?

Hatfield maybe. Don't think you'll get it in too many places in the city centre

Was thinkin the Bot but with the PL startin this weekend they'll no doubt hav it on.. don't really fancy the hatfield to be honest
Bot will have it on one of their screens, as will the errigle. The parador on up past the errigle would be a good shout

Paradoor is the best these days, run by greg blaneys brother I believe. Hatfield some spot for the craic though
