Has there been any transparency as regards this points system made available to the general public?
Not sure if the criteria have been published (I certainly haven't seen them) but they were agreed, by all the teams, at a series of meetings and the teams were then assesssed by two different independent panels.

By the sound of things Bangor were cute and got on with doing the things that got them the most points, while other teams sat on their arses.

i couldnt really be bothered looking. ill let you do that sometime. you always seem to want proof of everything so im sure you'll not mind providing proof of the celtic fans behaving badly somewhere. give me a shout when you post the links.

The link has already been posted, on page 5. If you want I can post it again, when I can get into Youtube.

Quote from: Uladh on May 15, 2008, 04:41:22 PMnational anthem - i've no problem scrapping it
ground and club names - might take a bit of time to get through but agian, i'd have no problem renaming grounds and clubs which may be seen as offensive.

what have i missed?
You've missed the main one, the basic aim of the GAA from the first page of the guide, namely the promotion of a 32 county Ireland. Plus a few smaller ones, like hunger strike memorials, clubs being used for political fund raising etc.

i never really get involved in these types of debate, i usually sit back and laugh. but i just want to ask sammy is there any chance he could give us a few links to the youtube pictures of celtic fans behaving like animals. you claim to have seen them so im sure you'll know where to find them.

Follow the link on page 5 in this thread and you'll find plenty. I can't get into youtube at the minute, it's blocked in work.

Just seen the video there. Absolute disgraceful scenes!!! Whats SammyGs take on this?????

My take (for the millionth time) is that they are the scum of the earth and I hope they're put away for a long time.

I seriously cant picture the Celtic fans in similar scenes!
Try watching some of the videos on Youtube.

I'd actually like to see a debate on this, on national TV, like Q&A, where we can get both sides to sit down. People like the teachers and parents in this case, Unionist party members, GAA representitives like people on the Ulster council, Nicky Brennan, Cumann na mBunscoil, Education ministers.

Get them to sit down and really talk about this case. It really needs to be addressed, we've had this debate a million times on here, but I dont recall much ever happening by the heads of the GAA or by anyone for that matter. No one has tackled the issue head, people have just danced around it and used it as a political football when they needed it.

Its time to start visibly doing something rather than making the usual noises and doing nothing!

Good call, would certainly be an interesting debate.

Quote from: snatter on May 15, 2008, 02:14:28 PMChris Collins from the Derry County Board said he was to meet pupils on Wednesday, but it had been cancelled.

Mr Collins said he was "disappointed that people aren't living in the 21st century and moving forward a wee bit".
Christ that has to be the quote of the year. The GAA asking people to move into the 21st Century.

On the general story unfortunately (for the GAA) it isn't going to happen until the GAA ditch the political shite.

For f**k sake how can you honestly compare those animals from last night with Celtic fans! You really are one almighty fu**pot.
I wouldn't compare them to all Celtic fans and nor would I compare them to all Rangers fans BUT a significant minority of both supports are scum. Search youtube for Rangers or Celtic and you'll see plenty of evidence.

So you deny saying - "different sides of the same shitty coin" ?
Not at all, why would I deny something that was clearly true. But I didn't bring it up, I just replied to the shite that Tony was spouting.

No Samuel, trying to tar Celtic fans with the same brush as Rankers fans (thus diluting the shame) makes you a bigot!  >:(
How the fcuk am I diluting anything? I completely and utterly condemn the scum involved and hope they get put away for a long time.

For the second time, Tony brought up Celtic, not me.

What was revised with the criteria in Oct 2007 to swing things radically in favour of a tin pot lower div club like Bangor and against a comfortable looking Belfast Celtic?
I presume you mean Donegall Celtic as I doubt that BC would make the criteria as their ground is now a shopping centre.

The criteria was watered down (not up) because only 5 clubs made the original standard. Bangor have since made several improvements (new entry system, drug testing room etc), while other clubs (including DC) have done nothing. The points were awarded against an agreed criteria, which all clubs, including DC and Portadown, signed up to and Bangor got more points. The final table was

1. Linfield - 1339 points
2. Ballymena United - 1054 points
3. Glentoran - 1016 points
4. Coleraine - 965 points
5. Cliftonville - 945 points
6. Dungannon Swifts - 855 points
7. Glenavon - 828 points
8. Crusaders - 826 points
9. Lisburn Distillery - 815 points
10. Newry City - 796 points
11. Bangor - 641 points
12. Institute - 632 points
13. Donegal Celtic - 543 points

(Note Portadown didn't get any points as their application wasn't considered, due to late submission).

If DC have been unfairly treated then they should definitely appeal but if not, then they just have to take their medicine and abide by the rules they signed up to.

Didnt the Celtic fans win an award for being the best travelling support a few years back?

Then switch to last night in Manchester.

Different sides of the same shitty coin my arse.

I think anyone who had any lingering doubts about Sammy G can now see, through his efforts on here today, that he is a 100% bigot.

So condemning scum makes you a bigot. Right on big lad, glad we got that cleared up.  ::)

You support the IFA team, who play at Windsor Park, who alone in these islands if not the World, have a shameful history of absuing, not only opposing players but your own players on account of their religion.
Complete lie and you well know it.

Sammy probably doesn't appreciate the irony...that is a North of Ireland supporter ridiculing anyone else in sport, and I mean anyone, for sectarianism ???
I'm not from the North of Ireland, so I'm not sure why that is directed at me.

This will hopefully put an end to the Old Firm tag and the myth that both Glasgow clubs are different sides of the same shitty coin.t
How will it end it and why is it a myth. It is a statement of fact.

Although there will still be people like SammyG who will have a vested interest in proposing this.
What vested interest?
