In line with discussion about well received series that you have certain level of expectation from, have just finished first series of Prison Break and was a real struggle to complete. Poor acting, far fetched, thinly written and very few credible characters even. Unlikely to continue but interested if others think it improves or is it "not for me"!
First 2 seasons of Prison Break were excellent imo. Got bit silly then but I still watched it. The new season that came out last year was brutal.
Completed season 2, lot better than season 1 but it requires you to be a bit brain dead and just accept it for what it is. Think will stop with it at this stage.

Why do GAA players have to announce retirement statements ?

Never understand this . It's not  a professional game.

probably as a mark of respect to all their supporters who otherwise would be wondering where they are or whether or not they were just dropped. and give them an opportunity to thank all the people who have helped them on the way
that or rampant egomania . probably the 1st

I'd have said ego maybe. I think it's a complete load of bollox . Because ultimately unless you're in the top 5 percent no-one gives a bollox really

Hand the jersey on and move on . Again elitism ..
People obviously do care, otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned. If you don't care, just ignore. I'd prob avoid going into a thread called retirements in that case though...

;D very good. Think no harm to announce finishing up with county team, saying you are retiring has connotation of being paid but most likely just using same wording as professional sports people. To follow the retiring example it could be said plenty of players were sacked or relieved of their duties.

Best of luck to Mark Lynch in his stepping away from Derry, 1st name would look for whenever they played. Hard to credit still only 32.

It's embarassing seeing two grown men make fools of themselves.

ah ffs Keyser..surely there's still craic to be had on this planet ?! That was comedy gold, the scarf, the vest...I'd say Corofin had a good laugh at the video.

I laughed at it too as I am sure everyone else who saw it did. But at the same time them lads have not a titter of wit between them.

Which is it?

Which is what?

Is drink not one of the biggest scourge in Irish society.Dont agree with drunken images been shared on social media.Didnt see any images of recent Ulster club winners Slaughneil posting pictures of themselves legless.
Neil McGee and Kevin Cassidy calling out Corofin is one of best things I've seen on social media, bit of craic and totally against the say nothing and keep saying it mantra we see every day from Dubs, Kilkenny, Kerry, blah blah blah.

Might be better complaining of more subtle alcohol industry advertisement.

Niall Kelly has gone but there's a good chance Dan Flynn will be around for a while yet.
Heard on Wolly FM that Eoin Flaherty back in with Kildare, 29 so should have plenty still to offer.

I never said every club

One or two in each county available to play club games in any weather would be huge.
You could run primary school blitzes all year round.
Colleges and 3rd level games need neutral venues.

An indoor pitch in the middle of nowhere in Mayo isn't much use to most gaa people in connacht for playing games

Bekan is pretty centrally located in Connacht so you've contradicted yourself in two successive paragraphs.

If NUIG or GMIT play Sligo IT or Athlone IT where suits? If Jarlaths play Summerhill, Muredachs, Ross CBS, Gerards, Carrick does Bekan suit?

If there is a Connacht underage tournament it is pretty damn central. Loads of parking and great facilities.

What level of Soccer is this?

Leinster Senior League is just below Div 1 of the League of Ireland. It is as top as it gets in the amateur stakes. It's not 22 lads full of porter playing each other for shits and giggles.
Leinster senior league has 10 Saturday divisions and Ballybrack play in equivalent of division 5. There are a further 9 Sunday divisions. AUL is another soccer governing body that has a heap of divisions. Ballybrack are a good bit away from top of amateur game.

So is today's game v USA a friendly but last week was competitive???  ::)
Is it really that hard to understand Tests are competitive to varying degrees depending on the opposition? Bit like Championship, Armagh v Tyrone in 1st round of Ulster Championship beat lumps out of other, say the loser draws Waterford in the back door, same overall competition - different intensity and approach.
Well if Waterford are beat that's their season over. If the good old US of A are beat v Ireland what happens next?

Rugby is the greatest myth ever told, over and over again. You want to believe it is a test and not a bigged up once off game, away with you, to me it's all a bit like the emperor's new clothes.

Any recommend best way to get from Beauvais airport into Paris city centre ?

Just looked up my Rough Guide there for ya. Says take coach Beauvais - Porte Maillot & metro after that.

Thats it. Flew home from there a few months back. Metro fo Port Maillot then bus to airport...40mins or so. Not much in that airport.
Remember us getting off at Port Maillot and having an oysters and amazing white wine meal at a corner restaurant nearby thinking this was the life. Had a right day about Paris for our first day before heading back to our depressing Etap hotel with it's camper van bathroom on the far side of the Boulevard Peripherique, having to pass by junkies and alcos on an undesignated unlit underpass with no footpath. The alcohol helps sometimes.
