Chatting last night
Feeling was that we had too many small men last time and have gone for physical presence
Whilst very good mc Kenna is quite smal and Cavan do try and run from deep
If a change it may be findon coming on

Donaghy moving back
And Forker going into forward line
Grugan to drop to bench?
That would be as bad a move as not playing McKenna.  As illdecide has said Geezer is a big man for naming dummy teams and there will be changes from that listed.  McKenna and Grugan both have to play because these two along with Soupy are our only chance of unlocking a tight Cavan defence. Findon may play at full back as Charlie got roasted in the league game and had to be switched.  Givney and McKiernan caused all sorts of bother in the league and the physicality in the centre of our defence had to be addressed.  Morgan and McKeever will help with this side of things.

In fairness, I think Findon was getting more of a roasting than Vernon in the first half. They switched at HT but nothing much changed.

I think the team named will probably start, although like most, I can't understand McKenna not starting

The last time we got relagated to Division 3 and played Cavan in the first round we got to the AI quarterfinal.

In fairness the Armagh team of two years ago was stronger team than now. How many starters from that team is starting Sunday six or seven?

7 I think. McKenna is a massive loss if he isn't available. What forwards will we have available from the bench - sforker / mcverry / hall?

Slaughtneil finish with a 19 point win. Have to be serious contenders

4-13 to 1-04. Nothing special ;-)

I'd imagine the score line says more about Fermanagh football than it does about slaughtneil.

A special club perhaps, however, I don't think this s'neill team will frighten the serious contenders for Ulster this year, albeit they are on the easier side of the draw. But time will tell.

I hope you didn't avail of the 9/4 on green lough after today's 10 point defeat.
I don't think the first part is in question. County champions in football, hurling, camogie and county minor champions at the football too. Reigning Ulster club football champions and hurlers and Camogie team in an Ulster final this weekend. Some of their players will play their 13th game in 11 weeks in the midst of this success.
Do you think Slaughtneil aren't serious contenders?

wonder how the Robbies would get on in the ultra competitive minefield that is the Armagh championship? Would they roll over like the rest and get their bellies tickled? Doubt it

A club like slaughtneil would be be a welcome addition to the Armagh championship as they certainly wouldn't be rolling over to crossmaglen.

Regarding being serious contenders for Ulster again, I just think they're behind a few of the other teams in terms of genuine quality. I don't see any real star (county) players there. Kilcoo have a handful of top players, cross have the kernans and a few others, scotstown have the Hughes, cargin have quite a few fine county players. S'neill seem to be relying on a brilliant spirit and self belief and best of luck to them.

I see both s'neil and scotstown are Evs for the QF match.

I would imagine the contenders will be:

Antrim - cargin look a quality side.
Armagh - cross will be short price favourites but look a long way short of previous cross sides
Cavan - no contenders here
Derry - s'neill are nothing special but are probably contenders
Donegal - no contenders here
Down - kilcoo must be serious contenders
Fermanagh - no contenders here
Monaghan - scotstown seem to be very strong. Contenders
Tyrone - a county title will be a fair achievement for either killyclogher / trillick

It certainly won't be a vintage Ulster championship. In short, I think it's between kilcoo and scotstown and to a lesser extent cross, cargin and s'neill

Fair play to Holmes / Connelly for walking away. God help the next manager. Perhaps only Jim mcGuinness could deliver an all Ireland to group of talented but undoubtedly stupid footballers.

Coc would have been better off going down and getting a penalty and a black card for Cluxton.

Knowing our luck, Cluxton would have got a yellow and Cillian would have missed the penalty.  :P

Nothing to do with luck I'm afraid.

Why did you not go with the young lads such as Durcan, drake and coen? Surely they would have been a better bet than the tried and failed vaughan, Doherty etc?

There is an in-built stupidity which will mean that Mayo won't be winning an all Ireland anytime soon. This goes to players, management and supporters. It's not about luck, fortune or anything else other than being stupid. They always manage to make the wrong decisions when the chance of success in in their grasp.

Dublin were desperately ill disciplined today. The antics of cooper and McMahon were disgraceful. I presumed Davy Byrne was the most sickening dub in that panel, but I am reviewing that at the moment!

Kerry will be concerned about the form of donaghy and cooper. Donaghy won't be starting the final. Geaney was superb, as were maher, Walsh and o'brien.

Morgan is some gobshite. The other keeper should feel aggrieved as he seems a better keeper. Bradley looks like an excellent and genuine footballer and hopefully we don't start to see him rolling about in the coming years as is the Tyrone way.

Will mickey stay on next year?

Screenexile, you're in dreamland to think t mcentee would join Banty as derry's assistant manager!!!! The Derry job doesn't look too appealing, although Banty is clearly disparate to get back involved. Perhaps he could persuade (dungiven's) Gregory mcgonigle (I think he works for Banty) to join him? Will the downey's ever through their hat into the ring?

T mcentee will probably get the down job, although considering how McCorry has been treated, he might be wiser to give it a wide berth. I've no doubt Pete mcgrath would jump at the chance to manage down again but will he get the chance?

Personally, I would like to see mcentee or McCorry as mcgeeney's assistant next year in Armagh, but not sure how likely that is

Best wishes to ronan in his recovery.

A magnificent footballer, undoubtedly one the very finest to ever wear an Armagh Jersey.

Always played the game in the right spirit
