i have been told of pubs/soccer cubs who have managed to secure deals with drinks companies wherby when you purchase a particular beer your club gets 10p per pint in other words the more booze you drink the more money your club gets so in effect drinking is good for your team. maybe if the gaa county boards would take some of the fianacial burden of carrying top heavy county teams off the clubs and leave them with a few pound we could all work toward gyms etc and perhaps get more people away from the booze

i listen to newstalk as well the best gaa coverage on the radio good interviews and match commentary(dublin games). from a nordie point of view they have went to the bother of getting a bt lowcall number (0845 etc) even though their signal isnt strong in the north other stations also have this facility but never give out the number todayfm, rte radio 1 and 2fm thus ruling us out of competitions, points of view etc. eg it is now impossible for anyone in northern ireland to contact todayfm by phone. i think given this positive move by this station and their fast growing listnership the gaa should row in behind them we need positive coverage for a change. (dont start me on the bbc). meanwhile back to the cricket is it not similar to rounders a gaa game. if im right we are a world sport and dont know it . by the way i have discovered recently that i am bi-lingual i was listening to an ulster-scots programme on radio six county statelet and understood every word. im applying for new job can i put this on my cv ;)

hold on a minute people have been getting drunk long before the gaa was even founded, since when did the gaa become the social counsence of ireland. soccer clubs are much more drink related than gaa clubs. why is no one in soccer suggesting this ban?. dont tell me that they are much more in touch with reality than we are people wiil  get full if they want. i think in reality most clubs tend to steer away from pub sponsorship on jerseys etc but usually touch them up for a few quid if the team drink there theres no harm in it. one well known club near me has a very good bar but they also have an excellent gym. to the best of my knowledge the gym draws a huge crowds compared to the bar were those training can been seen afterwards drinking mineral water perhaps this is a viable alternative in the long term to social clubs

apart from the usual pooh pooh brigade these are the best replies ive ever seen to any thread on this forum take a bow lads, what i was merely trying to gauge was the depth of feeling toward the biggest upheivel in the history of our organisation personally i feel a mixture of saddness and pride that the huns with the backing of the world media and millions being paid in wages had to come cap in hand to a bunch of part-timers for the use of your world class stadium please sir

Well with the papers already talking up the arrival of soccer and rugby to HQ i wonder just how Ill will really feel as the hordes of the unwashed avail of the fruits of mine and thousands of gaa members labour, croker was always a very special place to be and i think to these crowd they will probably feel as if its public property just a big lump of concrete, as time goes on they,ll want to extend their lease because nothing in Dublin gets finished on time and after another couple of years it will be like as if we are renting their stadium with gaa matches arranged around their needs. i just don't think it will be the same again. as for the money i doubt if my club will ever see a penny of it. what do the rest of yez think? is there anything our crowd can do to use these well publicised occasions to promote our games- maybe a underage display at half time? either way i feel as we are on the back foot already! maybe you want to protest- stand outside and burn a dummy of the traitor Sean Kelly- a la billy lundy.

more good news from headquarters especially for small clubs. if the county hurlers get into the ulster championship they want £1000 per club to fiance their training etc better look after the balls from now on cant afford to loose any!. County squads are simply gonna have to be more self funding or clubs are going to bankrupt. its hard enough to attract committee members but when they find out that the first £7000 they raise goes to county squads its near enough impossible

yep justin mc nultys blocked kick springs to mind although he redeemed himself when he rose high in the dying minutes of the 2002 aif and caught a long probing pass on route to a kerry forward. somebody should pass this information on to joe brolly who keeps blaming enda mc nulty. kernans substitution of geezer is unforgiveable against tyrone he gifted them an all-ireland :'(
