From a Dublin point of view I would prefer any other ref to Joe. He allowed Mayo systematically foul Dublin for the final 15 mins of last years semi final . In the quarter final v Tyrone in 2011 he completely rode Dublin. Nobody passed too may remarks at the time as Dublin won well but it was a shockingily one sided performance from him. Finally in the 2011 final he penalised Eoin Brosnan for touching the ball on the ground in the small square but incorrectly awarded a 14 yard free rather than a penalty. If he is biased towards Dublin he's not doing much of a job of showing it.

That's the whole point. Brosnan didn't touch it on the ground -  so he gave you a free for nothing. You were looking s penalty for nothing and had to settle for a tap over free. Good deal.

He definitely touched it on the ground. There was a still photo going around at the time that proved it

Less chance of seeing those Hill 16 - "The City that defeated an empire" jerseys..

Sure you could ask them wearing that Jersey where the name Jackeens comes from for the Dubs as they as so fond of shouting it,

When the Queen Victoria came to dublin back in 1900, a crowd of dublin people waved union jacks as she passed through the street, and hence were given the name Jackeens!!

"When we got into Dublin the mass of people wedged together in the street and every window, even on the roofs, was quite remarkable. Although I have seen many visits of this kind, nothing has ever approached the enthusiasm and even frenzy displayed by the people of Dublin."

The same lads might also tell you that the vast majority of volunteers killed in the 1916 rising were from Dublin. The T shirts are certain;ly cringeworthy but there is an element of truth in them

I wonder did half the Laois panel head off to America after that defeat like they did this year. Like rats deserting a sinking ship. Typical Laois.
I do believe Laois are still in the Championship  ;)

They certainly are but that didn't stop a rake of them heading off to America  in June after they lost the first round of the Leinster Championship. Laois football has all the backbone of a Jelllyfish

That was a great way to close out the game in '99 - Laois - so close but yet so far.

8 minutes of last weeks game were taken up with Stephen Cluxton taking a free or a 45.

Over 7 minutes of yhe match was taken up with Paddy o Rourke taking kick outs. Whats your point?

Whoever won the toss would win the game. Louth won the toss and won easily.
With the hurricane behind them in the first half they were able to build a lead and with that it was game over. Laois gave in too easy but wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Sure they shouldn't of bothered with the match at all so. They should of just it to Louth when they won the toss.

Ye Laois boys with your excuses. Always somebody elses fault. Seen as you couldn't blame the Dubs or Mick O Dwyer or Aussie Rulles or Parnells you have decided to pin it on the wind. I suppose at least its original.

Oh so now we are talking about a free that happened with 12 minutes to go are we. You Dubs are great for comparing the auld apple and Oranges aren't you.

Also Sheehan took 45secs to take the kick. The only timewasting was due to some jawing that McCauley was doing at the ref.

and I'm sure Brian Sheehan is amused to be getting dietary advice from a bunch of cannibals.

Look, if you want me to go back and look at the match again and take down the exact time elapsed when the free was awarded just say the word and I'll do it. It would be unfair to ask a Kerryman like yourself to do it on the grounds of unecccessary cruelty. On the other hand myself as a Dub watching the replay of this match never fails to give me a soft horn at the very least.

On the subject of whingeing after defeats you Kerry boys could take a lesson in how to conduct yourselves in defeat from your Cork neighbours. They kept a steadfastly stiff upper lip after Tadgh Kenneally's disgraceful and premeditated assault on Nicholas Murphy in the opening seconds of the 2009 final which basically took Murphy out of the game. Don't even attempt to deny it because Tadgh admitted it in his buke! If a Tyrone or Dublin man did ithe same to one of the Kingdoms finest ye would be looking to send the perpetrator to Guantanamo.

I make Sheehan absolutely right.

On that particular occasion, Cluxton took every second he could off the clock, safe in the knowledge that not even the most bonkers of referees would take the right decision and blow him for time-wasting.

I don't how you do.`

.

As I already pointed out, Sheehan took 15 seconds longer over one of his free's around the 62nd minute when he thought Kerry had it in the bag.

What free are you referring to around the 62nd minute ?.

If its the one I am thinking about then, by my reckoning, not only did Sheehan only take about 10 seconds to take that kick but he actually ran over to it with the intent of taking it quickly. It was the other Kerry players that didn't give him an option that caused him to hesitate.

Meanwhile it was a full minute from the time Dublin free was awarded and Cluxton actually taking it.

Sheehan took 1 minute 10 seconds to take a free with about 12 mins left when it looked like Kerry were coasting. He fixed his boot, took a drink and generally fannied about before kicking it wide. He has a hard neck moaning about Cluxton who jogged up the field, put the ball down and kicked it over the bar with minimum fuss and no fannying. Maybe Sheehan would be better off if he spent a little less time ateing snack boxes and a little more time practicing his frees.

For such a proud footballing county Kerry are showing little pride in continueing to whinge abut 2011. Maybe its an indicator that they realise they are going to be waiting a while to win their next one.

A great day for the GAA yesterday. A great day for fair play, must be hugely embarrassing for Dublin though. A professional outfit beaten by tiny Longford.  ;D
Dublin population: 1.2 Million
Longord population: 39,000
Dublin u21 resources: 1 Million
Longford u21 resources: Couple of hundred euro.

Ah yes the deranged playschool pupil is back.

I didn't know there were 1m allocated to Dublin for their u21 campaign.

Obviously you have critical Census information for the ESRI.

Disclaimer ( If you don't understand any of the above I'll spell it out slowly just to be sure you understand)

Fair play to Longford- I wasn't there but by all accounts the better team won.

If I'm honest I'm glad we're out- we can concentrate on the senior campaign now and NFL Title. Identifying underage players is better then winning a times. We've won enough at underage recently to keep us going for the time being.

Kildare and Longford badly need a provincial crown at u21 level more then ourselves.

Wasn't a surprise we lost to a lot of people. Its only a surprise if you read Mc Kenna/Don't Matter.

7 million should have been enough for you to dominate football and hurling by now, especially when you add in all the other advantages. Maybe you need Fianna Fáil back in power again and hope Bertie still has some influence.

Hey Don't Know. Your gone awful quiet since Laois yet again raised the White Flag in a big game. Whose fault is it this time? Mick O Dwyer, Parnells or those dirty Dubs and all their money?

Personally hope Ballymun do it. The wife wouldn't be a million miles from there and its a truly fantastic story what Paddy Christie and that club have done faced with the challenges that the local area presents. I hope they cap it off with the All-Ireland to match their neighbours to the west and south.

Fair point and yes Ballymun has a terrible history of deprivation, poor planning, slums, and this is a great story. But are you basing those challenges on it's history, the flats, etc, or current times. I am not aware of any rural county with bigger populations to support, ravaged by unemployment and immigration and let's face it plenty of social problems too, that has got the billions that have been invested in Ballymun in modern times. Many rural clubs have issues even fielding a team.
My understanding of Ballymun Kickhams is that they get the majority of their players from the area south and south west of the flats.  This area does not fit the socially deprived profile that you are ascribing to the area about the flats. The Kickhams have a tight knit club that does not have the huge numbers of other successful Dublin clubs, this might all change after Sunday.

Most of the lads came off two underage teams they had.

Few outsiders like James Burke from Mayo and Sean George from Laois (George is originally from Dublin)

.

And Kevin Leahy from Clontarf and Karl Connolly from Fingalliand and Derek Byrne from Round Towers. I'm a Dub and I hope they win but there has been a lot of nonsense peddled about them.

Dublin appeared in very few underage All Irelands for years, they really struggled. Why has there success in both codes exploded in the last couple of years?
Here's some quotes from 2004: 'Today is about establishing the foundations for the future, it is about securing the foothold of Gaelic games in this city and county.'
Can anyone guess who said that while announcing the 7 million bonanza for Dublin GAA?
Here was the game plan: The strategy for dealing with the challenge will be based on devolving work to regional areas, where the focus will be sharper on servicing the schools in those regions and identifying the elite talent.
Dublin have been given an unfair advantage over all other counties in Ireland, if Carlow were given the 7 million they would have beaten Dublin.
It's a huge embarrassment for Dublin to have only won 1 senior All Ireland with all the resources behind them, they've basically been handed the opportunity to win bucket loads on a plate but I feel soon enough the inevitable will happen and the All Irelands will come rolling in. It's almost impossible for them not to.
Lets do what's best for the GAA, split Dublin in two.

Once again I'll ask you to show us some evidence of this phantom 7 million? Was it Irish Sports Council Money or did Bertie just give it over from the state coffers?
