Can SJ play this week for the Gaels ?

Saw the Celt there today and they're talking about Nico Walsh being home on holidays this week and possibly togging out for the Gaels...................Maloney Derham was togged out for a recent game wasn't he away in USA for a while, would be a lad to push into the County panel possibly if he was around and committed.

Deiseach, legendary post. Would have you down for a Cnoc Sion man if you didn't display such a good sense of irony.

And as a card carrying member of the sciatica afflicted society, fair dues to Forrest who had a very good game and had the honour of hammering home the tie winner.

There is rare beauty in Ireland. I don't think any other country has as much in such a small concentrated area. I think the people have lost something though as one poster mentioned. Exiles all look out for each other here in America. The first summer i came out here I landed on a Friday went to a bar on Saturday and bumped into a few lads and started work on Tuesday morning. There were phone calls being made across a broad network of exiles who had no connection to me but did their utmost to help.
I feel in Ireland only foreigners with money to spend and who will leave again soon, are welcome.
Thankfully America has closed its doors to Irish immigrants for the most part. And the long term exiles keep the new lads in check. Australia is a whole other thread about how our people are representing the country. I think the Ireland I am proud of is a long ago childhood memory.

I think that's exaggerated to be honest. Whatever romanticised notion you have about Ireland apart, the cliquishness of the Irish abroad is a natural phenomenon and we are good at that. No other nationality that I know clings to each other and the notion of home so much. That's all good.

However, while the Celtic Tiger skewed people's sense of priorities at home, I still think the Irish are friendly, and a good chat. I can guarantee that I could walk into any bar in Ireland and within 15 minutes be chatting about GAA, and probably know someone who knows someone. I also think it absolutely wrong to say that ex-pats are not welcome home, unless of course they are a certain, ahem, type of ex-pat who feels the need to explain why things are so much better in Amerikay, and why people who stay at home are crazy, and why Ireland is such a bad place to live.

Ireland, despite the balls our politicians have made of it, and despite our numerous flaws, is still one of the best places in the world to live, and I am proud to live here, and call Ireland home.

Not totally sure I agree with the bold Bit AZ-new world countries have their ghettos of Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Vietnamese communities etc. etc. Probablyb more so if anything given the greater cultural differences they experience in places like OZ and the US. Each one to their own I suppose. Irish people are friendly up to a point I think at a very superficial level and that's about it. I can honestly say I don't have any Eastern European friends despite the thousands that have landed here and made a great contribution (the majority of them anyway) to the country over the last 15 years, I reckon there are any number of others like me.

got to hand it to the GAA's administrators allright, looks like the London/New York experiment has raised the overall standard west of the Shannon.

Too right, good win for London against Fermanagh last year and running Cavan scared this year.

Also useful to be able to distinguish between Connacht First Round and Connacht semi finals since the addition of the overseas powers. Running Cavan scared?? jasus man you must have had the chinos well soiled after 20 minutes yesterday at that rate.

don't think Conor has played a whole pile for the club in the recent past, nor had Alan strange one that. Gilsenan had played a few games for the club before his recent injury. Billy O Mara, not sure where he went to.

QuoteDo you know the reason why he is looking for an apology from them?

I do.

He wanted them to spend 10k to bring gaa to court so he would not have to leave them to play with Kildare.

Anyone observing the Cavan thread will be used to a lot of stuff which Tommy "knows" about team selections, injuries  and player departures to the USA which tend to be proved nonsensical with the passage of time, probably best to treat anything he posts with a lot of scepticism at the very least.

From what I'm hearing there is no way back, too many players against it.

Looks like our most likely all star cian mackey wants him back at any rate. Mackey has had a fair bit of face time with the media this season so who knows what to make of his very highly reported comments. The huge obstacle to him coming back is is attitude and what it would say to other members of the panel who've put the work in over the past 12 months. Some people are questioning whether he has enough ability for the panel I think we need a small reality check on that one Our full forward line had its issues on Sunday

Tommy, just a few ideas:

it's about five years now since Bebo went out of business, time to get over it.

Ever think of taking a touch typing course since you don't seem capable of posting more than 10 words at a time. God knows you might be actually be able to do something useful like post a match report.

Remind me again about those lads on the county panel that were heading stateside the week after the Armagh game, my heads wrecked on that one.
