"new devil" should we just let them go and play AFL without a fight.

"dublinfella" what is your story.
You seem happy for the GAA to be a feeder system for the Australians.
This is not what the GAA was set up for.
Every time a top class player leaves for Australia the standard goes down here and it goes up in Australia.

"the Deel Rover" yes they can do what they like and good look to them if they succed over there, but we can make them think twice about taking up the offer in the first place.

"dublinfella" are you happy with the current situation where by a club and county put great effort into traing a young fella for maybe 10 years and then he is allowed to be poached by another code."dublinfella" are you happy with the current situation where by a club and county put great effort into training a young fella for maybe 10 years and then he is allowed to be poached by another code with nothing in return.
Do you honestly think its fair on that club and county?
If this was happening the other way around the Australians would be going mental.
As far as I know the GAA was not set up as a feeder system for the Australians.
I accept that it is great for the young fella involved to go down under to play footie.
If this goes unchecked then the joke will go out of it fairly quickly.

"Rossfan" there is nothing we can do to stop the players going, but we can make it difficlut for them by saying if you go your not coming back.

If only I had the command of the English language like "Tyrone Dreamer" I would not need to make such controversial statements to get my point across

Ya not expecting the win, but the players seem to have confidence in them selves. So why not get behind them. I agree the full back line could be better, but I think Galway will just have to take the attitude for all out attack rather than be defensively minded if they are going to win.

Ok lads I have said already that I am proud of the fact that Irish lads are able to do well at the Australian game.
But do ye not think that we should stop them from doing so.
I accept the fact that only a few players have gone over at the moment but this could lead to more and more going over.
As the Australians have said that they see the Irish players as cheap to get.
So we just let the Australians take the best of our players and do nothing about it.
Unfortunately the only way to truly stop this will be for GAA to go professional.

In the old days when people played soccer and rugby they where not lost to the game.
It kept them fit during the winter, I never had a problem with that.
Fair play to lads for having a go at the Austrialion game but do you think we should just let them go without a fight as is happening now

Although I am very proud that many Irish players are able to take to Australian game I think it is to the detriment of the GAA that these players are gone from our games.
Would it work to ban players for life from the GAA for taking part in any trial games etc for the Australian game?
This problem is going to get worse as and more players will be poached.
The GAA is never going to get anything back in return for these players so why not try and make it hard for them to go in the first place.
I know this is extreme and would never work in practice, but I still feel something has to be done to stop it.

I dont think they will to be honest, although I dont think they will win.
If Kilkenny allow them to play hurling which I think they will, I can see Galway putting up a good score.
At the same time its hard to see them winning.
But dont right them off, this is when Galway are at there most dangerous.

Has the Galway team been named yet, or is Ger going tp announce it just before the game

Ye are on about qualifiers, the hurling matchs on the weekend are knock out, Galway v Kilkenny in 2005 was one of the best games ever, ok Tip v Wexford May not be a glamour clash, but its more than likely going to be better than a football match.
To me football nearly always looks the same anymore apart from a few teams that play it long.

There are only a few hurling teams and they all bring there individual style to the table. Which is why its so good to watch.
Clare - hitting hard and grafting.
Kilkenny - superb skill and work rate.
Cork - short passing, possession game.
Limerick - real passion for the game when they try.
Galway - skilful fast play, well maybe when they get going this year.
Tip - with babs at the helm a Tip team will always be entertaining.
Waterford - Good open style of play with classy forwards.
Wexford - always good for a laugh.

Lads we all know hurling is a far better game to watch.
Football these days is the same boring hand passing, kicking the s@~t out of each other and very little scoring.
Now do not get me wrong, the footballers are fitter than the hurlers but the game as a whole is not good to watch.
That's why hurling is on ahead of football most of the time.
