Agreed. I think there is a deeper malaise here though. Every 6 county team that appears in Croke Park seems to have a fair number of so called fans who a) hate southern teams and southerners and b) perceive that southerners hate them. Totally illogical but you get more aggressive behaviour from Northern fans in Croke Park for example

Holy feck Tony, you can talk sense after all.  Glad I encouraged you back to the Board

GAA Discussion / I'm A Mad Down Fan But?

Does any other Down Heads feel, like I do, let down by those who booed every Cork free kick?
I found it sickening and it made me quite ashamed to be associated with the same county.  I should not be made to feel that way.

I don't know where they get it from but I know they were not brought up they way I was.
Perhaps it was willfull youth but that's no excuse.  Perhaps they are aping the a worn out the 1990s soccer-type thing that even soccer has since cast off.

Our beloved GAA should have no place for it. Whoever is at it please have some respect for yourselves and, more importantly, your county and knock it on the head forever.

I do not visit the Hogan Stand Borad but if anyone who does and who agrees with me please feel free to copy this message over there.

This ulster bitching and sniping against Down is very shoddy. No wonder the Unionists got away with jerrymandering for so long.

Well said and from a neutral to boot.

Not long home and full of Guinness.

Before going to bed I want to say congrats and well done Cork.  You were too many for us today and you deserve Sam.

To all on this thread.Have a great day tomorrow in Dublin regardless of the outcome and I hope we bring Sam home.

Regardless of the result tomorrow is about the great game. Bear in mind that its not only our players that represent the County, we, the fans, do as well.

If we win do it with with grace and if we lose do it in the same manner.  Be Gael-like and friendly to you the Cork folk you will meet.
Down are rightly a prouid GAA county and I hate to see assholes wearing red&black damaging what we are.  Keep the flag flying.

Aye, The Nally Stand its totally segagated from the Hill by a distance of some 130miles.

I thinl you'll find you are in the Davin, where the Nally used to be.  It too is segrated from the Hhill

What's this crap about wee James being a Lish man, a point man or a Burren man and what does it matter esp on this thread.

I couldn't give a fiddler's feck. I wouldn't care if he's from timbuctoo so long as he keeps on with the unbelieveable job he has done so far this year. I for one cetainly didn't think we would be where we are this Sunday when he was appointed -I was wrong big time.

Fab Cark humour. loving it esp as it distracts your attention away from us Down hoors.  Thanks be te jeysus Arma and Tyronies don't have access to a coastline or else we would be in the same boat.

I'm all for the traditional Down cockiness, its good, but we must not allow this to blur the facts facing us in Sunday's challenge.  This Cork team are serious opposition and we are rightly underdogs.

I am in little doubt Down will win but!!!  should Cork find ther 2009 form that has deserted them so far this year we stand to lose our proud record of never been beaten in an AIF.   If that is the case then fair fecks to Cork (always liked them anyway).  From 1 - 15 (or 20) they have the bigger, stronger more experienced squad than us and, were it not a final, my money would be on Cork.

But it is a final so we have a real chance and we are quite good at finals.  We have a skillful set of forwards, an organised defensive system, a competitive midfield and a useful bench.  Cork have these as well so hopefully, together they will dish us up a great final of open attacking football.   Can't wait.

To all Down heads I say keep up the craic, enjoy the banter but, especially on this, the only sensible thread on the go at the moment, lets keep it real, fact based and most of all mutually respectful.
Take the slagging, shitetalk and banter to Hardstation's and Trout's threads instead.  They will believe anything you post.

The cliche can come with either date 2002 or 2003. Depending on the location of the poster it's aimed at.

It is becoming a tired cliche but still has some relevance becuse prior to 2002 no Tyronies or OurMaies were making comments.  Meself I think it is good they have matured into the fold of the better Counties, well Tyrone at least.
