Coutinho needs kept. It could easily have been more doom and gloom but plenty of relief to get the win.

Robertson looked decent. Has a good delivery on him. Wasn't really tested defensively. Gomez was solid too. Matip was good.

Midfield was lacking in creativity. Sturridge was sharp and lively on the ball but expectedly only lasted an hour. Salah and Solanke had good cameos.

Firmino was below par and Mane got the goal.

We will take it. Regardless of the Coutinho situation, reinforcements are needed.

Interesting team selection today, clear rotation which is good to see. Team looks a little weaker on paper but Salah available to come off the bench and squad needs to be utilised to compete at home and in Europe.

We haven't seen this yet from Klopp. Players won't be used to it but let's hope they rise to the occasion.

County board have decided not to bother with JFC this year. Only a hindrance for them.

Unless you are winning Premier Leagues and regularly in champions league and competing to win it, it is difficult for any Premier League club to keep players from the clutches of the big two in Spain.

It was always going to take a transfer request to persuade Liverpool to sell. Coutinho is too important and as AZ says it is very late in the day to be looking for replacements.

I am not even sure what kind of player Keita is but maybe Liverpool need to ask Leipzig to name a price and go back to Barca and tell them to add on the extra if they want Phil.

Liverpool have been here with Suarez and the Arsenal bid. Despite Coutinho having submitted a request, Liverpool may stand firm and risk upsetting the player in the short term but give him assurances that he can go next summer on the club's terms.

That would be the best case scenario right now because with a sale, Liverpool are very unlikely to be able to find quality available players right now.

Either way, a bad situation on the eve of the season.

Liverpool couldn't have done anything differently to be fair. They have been trying to sign players and have been willing to stump up huge fees but have seen their efforts rebuffed by clubs thus for.

If he was available, Bale would be a suitable replacement

General discussion / Re: IT recruiters
July 11, 2017, 12:39:39 PM
I have been job hunting for the last couple of months following notice of pending redundancy. I finish up with the company I am currently with later this month.

I have met with 6-8 recruitment agencies and would agree with what is being said here in that they are mostly pretty average at best. Some young ones that clearly have never worked in another industry and wouldn't have a notion about my level of technical competence and also some more polished but pompous gimps who say all the right things but generally don't lead anywhere.

I have had more success from my own work than through recruiters and I know I have missed out on one role because the recruiter got in first with my CV and the company wouldn't be willing to take their fee.

It is tough going but it just takes diligence and I am sure that the right thing will come off sooner rather than later. I have written off all but maybe one of the recruiters I met at this stage and have much more trust in my own ability to find something suitable for me.

The whole process will have me wiser should I ever be in this situation again in the future.

Look after yourself and don't rely on anyone else.

Edit: LinkedIn. Worthwhile or not? I have never had a profile. I am generally quite a private person when it comes to my work and don't publicise what I do outside of close friends and family.

It happened in one of the games in at the weekend there too, I always thought 'you couldn't move up a sideline ball'. Was this a myth or did the rule change at some point?

Saying that Kuyt's second touch was often a tackle is unfair. Yes, he wasn't as easy on the eye as some players but I thought he was always on his game, usually sharp and his focus meant his touch was pretty assured. When he did have it he wasn't very creative but I agree a player that rightly earned cult hero status.
