RTE's GAA podcast have reported that Rian O'Neill is out on Sunday and most likely for first round of Championship as well.

All not well in the orchard it seems.
Its all coming out in the wash.
Out. Injured. For the Year?!
Is that Right aye?

The whole thing stinks.
Paddy Carr and Aidan O'Rourke being thrown together as some sort of arranged marriage was never going to work.

No slight on the man but can anyone tell me what Paddy Carr's managerial CV looks like in the last 10years. Has he not more or less been out of the game?

You cant throw people like that together and expect anything other than problems.

The players clearly have issues with Carr and have made their feelings known and he's been ousted.
Strange enough that the whole management team hasnt walked together which tells me that they werent really on the same page anyway.

Jim McGuinness is some boy too. Hes been coaching Down once a week for a good bit now.
He couldnt possibly walk into a role at Donegal could he?

Tyrone introduced diving/feigning injury in the 2000s, but as it's proven to be effective, there's been a culture change, and every team is at it, even at club level. Impossible for a ref to determine if an injury if being feigned, even if they have a MRI in their pocket.
And there are other consequences; with so many faked injuries, identifying the real one becomes more difficult

Lol what a load of nonsense. That team was known for its intensity, running after a ball like your life depended on it. It did not introduce feigning injury into GAA   :o

I wouldn't necessarily agree that they introduced it but they were the first team who tolerated a win at all costs mentality. Whether that was sledging, feigning injury or gamesmanship that Tyrone team under Mickey Harte had a win at all costs mentality which still pervades to this day. Players like Jordan, McGuigan, Cavanagh and McCann feigned injury in high profile games before yet the practice never disappeared. While players have to take personal responsibility, it can be easily eradicated by management ensuring that it doesn't become part of the culture. Kieran McGeeney for example would not tolerate a diving culture as it would be anathema to what he believes in.

Would he not aye.
Big, macho, strong, manly men dont believe in that guff.

Is anyone really surprised there are be those waiting with knives sharpened?
Its the way it was always going to be when polarising figures were appointed to positions of authority by the powers that be.
Im sure Laverty cares very little what anonymous figures on internet forums say about his style, behaviour or team selections.

They're well fit to tackle but they choose not to. Usual macho shite. Mccabe, mckay and rian O'Neill always certs for the booking.
O'Neill in particular always leaves a bit on the man after the foul. A trailing boot or knee in.

GAA Discussion / Re: GAA presidential election 2020

The thing I don't like about him is that he is absolutely desperate to become president, and has been actively positioning himself for almost 2 decades to get there.

And not based on any grand vision or great policy initiatives but just the actual attainment of the post in itself.

People say he's a great GAA man and does all sorts around the club etc but for me that's all part of his man of the people strategy and its all carefully choreographed and publicised.

As I said on another thread the people who most want to become policemen and politicians are the last people who should be in any position of power over anyone.

THIS RIGHT HERE...ON THE MONEY.
Undoubtedly a great clubman but this has been years in the planning and carefully choreographed, ticking every box as he goes along.
Could teach a few things to marketing gurus about maximum exposure and brand promotion.
If he doesnt get in this time it will be a greek tragedy.
