whats the plan for mchale park? is it increasing in capacity? new stand? hope to god they rid of the concrete lintols for seating. a bit of plastic would be no harm at all.

anyone else notice the collosal c**k-up on the mchale road side (as things stand) where the upper level of seating is set back from and at a shallower pitch then the lower level? the view from up there is brutal and purely bacause of a simple mistake. i hope this too is fixed.

imho tis a total waste of money. we've enough big stadia round the country lying empty all year. tis time that money was pumped into coaching, promotion of the game and developments of the younguns.

enough with the 'oh we've got a bigger house then you mentality'. what good is a big house if you've nobody to live in it?

There's a priest who plays junior with Charlestown Sarsfields in Mayo. Corner forward is his preferred position. He's partial to taking a tumble now and again. He's got a vocabulary that a docker would be proud of.

your right there! for his size he can create a right oul racket!!! prone to the odd dirty foul aswell (but sure we're all prone to that!). a sound man though.

hey davitt man! im back from france. great spot to be during the world cup but the liver wont recover til next march!! im told michael mc made a great save for dillons penalty at the weekend.

would i be right in saying that the juniors have no more games left this year? judging by the league table it seems we've gotta wait for achill to lose??

ive been informed that jimmy nallen will be giving it another lash next year. to quote a man - "sure all he does is train and drink water". funny but inaccurate id say. if he wants another go he would be a great man to have as part of a panel.

however i think D Bradys game was/is confrontational by nature in contrast to Nallen and i would suggest you need to be a young man to keep that going.

If Big Mac wants another go - have at it.

i agree with billy the kid. i dont think johno can mix the two games. as babs keating said inter county management needs someone with plenty time on their hands. ideally a teacher or better still a retired one.
johno will find that michael ring will make more appearances at funerals then he will. he will be heard more on the radio and if johno manages to get re-elected in 4 years it will be to the detriment of mayo footbal.

Mayo deserve to have won an all ireland from their exploits over the last 10 years but they havent.
i must disagree with billy the kid. mayo dont deserve to have won an all-ireland in the last 10 years. the most deserving team always wins the game. justice doesnt come into it.

96 - 6 points up. game over. mayo failed to close out the game. ball hopping over the bar - bad goalkeeping/defending.
97 - too cocky. beat kerry the year before, thought the same would happen again.
04/06 - hammered by what we now know to be a great kerry team (some of them played in 97 too).

that was all a bit scattered!

my first time in croker was 1992 semi final mayo vs donegal. mayo did alright that day but the thing i remember most is the creeky nature of the upper deck of the old cusack stand. wooden seat metal arm rests, pure tight squeeze even for a nipper. the turnstiles were tight too and that day i dont think there was much of a crowd either.

i think ive been in every part of croker both old and new since then. though i might not have set foot in the upper deck of the old hogan stand. sat in the VIP seats in the old hogan after some match too when i was small. now they were comfotable from what i remember.

best memory of croker - (semi Vs dubs apart) - leaving the old canal end after mayo beat offaly in 97. twas all mayo that end and everyone singing and chanting all the way out the gates. i didnt need to use my legs - i was carried along by the crowd out that bottle neck by the bridge!

was at the cross charlestown game last night in foxford. benson pulled it out of the fire for cross with a goal and a few points late on. i was surprised by charlestown. they made a good start and pulled a corner forward back just in front of their own full back line to snuff out benson and that big lad (i dont know his name). it was workin a treat until he gave the ball away silly and let them in for a couple of points. then benson got the goal and that was that!

charlestown got a cracking goal early on and took the game to cross but they just lacked the killer insticnt towards the end.

a decent game and fair play to both teams.

i heard James Mulderrig had a serious game last night, i will never know how he was dropped off the u-21 panel this year considering some of the lads that were kept, James is very like pierce hanely, big strong fit and very direct, a great talent

You heard right. he was savage. the cadets are doing him no harm at all. james was always skilful and now has the confidence and physique to back it up.

won most kickouts himself, ran 40 yards to set up scores or take them himself. you could see tho that he felt he had to carry the team and maybe felt he had to take on too much on his own, as a result he missed a couple of chances purely because he was probably knackered by the time he got close enough to shoot. if he had CJ to lay the ball off to every now and again the scoreline could have been so much different. having said that he kicked some serious scores and was by far and away MDs best player.
