Tyrone / Re: Tyrone County Football and Hurling
January 29, 2023, 03:15:48 PM
Delighted with that result from a Ros perspective.  Tyrone are still a force, but have plenty to work on.  A win our side means a lot more than it would the other way round.

Glad to see Whipping Boy featuring,  When we were young and We don't need nobody else, and Twinkle,  are dynamite lyrics and melodies that stand the test of time.
JJ72 had one great album,  they supported U2 in Slane, and came out into the pit when U2 were on- my first experience of being starstruck standing near Hilary!!

SiniĊĦa Mihajlović the ex Lazio and Inter left back dead at 53 after a illness.

What a left foot he had

Just got there before me, unreal free kicks.  Was he one of the first to play with a protective mask for an injury at a stage, or maybe I'm mixed up.  RIP.

Never read this thread, so this may have been mentioned already, but archive.org is a fantastic online library, just search by title or author.  All the books have been scanned, so it feels like you are reading a book moreso than just digital text.
Back reading Steinbeck's Tortilla Flat, such a little gem of a novel.  And if you like the films The Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile, the original books are so many times better.

Earliest that I think I can remember,  although I could have it arseways,  was 86- I have it in my head that Dancing in the Dark was the RTE theme or continuity music, or if not, then it was something similar.
I remember having a poster of Maradona kissing the trophy up on the wall, I think it was out of the Sunday World.

Best: Paris, Munich- loads to see and do, beautiful architecture and so much history.  The school tours are great that way- left to my own devices, I wouldn't either find or be organised enough to see a fraction of the itinerary.  Honorable mention to Salzburg- a beautiful city with a statue of a Laois man outside the cathedral as one of the founders.
Worst: the Mona Lisa.  Was expecting something the size of the gable of the house, instead an A4 page with about 10 million Japanese tourists in front of me.
Such a letdown!!!

General discussion / Re: Six County Census Results 2021

When will the next census take place?  I'd imagine how the protocol plays out, and how Brexit evolves would determine where middle ground might lean.
There would need to be modelling of different possible outcomes in the event of a referendum, because while I'd be naturally drawn to the idea of a United Ireland,  there would be so many things about implementing it that wouldn't even register with me, that would have obvious significance for either community or tradition in the 6 counties.

Don't recall seeing his name here, but just saw that Wolfgang Peterson died in August.  He directed Das Boot, a brilliant film if you haven't seen it.

I've taken to having a look daily at his tweets, and for the most part look at them with bemusement,  but from time to time they are downright sinister- I saw the first of those tweets earlier, but wouldn't have considered that outcome.  What a dodge.

Between hopping and trotting all day, only got to check the phone every few hours.  Some action today!!
The history books of the future be interesting in how they frame this administration.  I wonder would his intention be to burn down as many as he can once he's finally brought down himself?
