Quote from: J70 on November 17, 2023, 01:01:36 PMI may be reading it wrong but it looks like Everton exceeded the 105m limit over the three years by about 20m.

If so, a single (average) player deal could have been the difference.

They bought some overpriced dross and on big wages thanks to Moshiri and his superagent friend...

A few weeks back I'd have said Everton were doomed with that sort of points reduction but they've shown a bit of form and the three promoted teams haven't shown anything. Even with the 10 points deduction they're above Burnley and only another 2 points would get them out of the relegation zone.

They'll appeal on the grounds that the severity of the punishment is based on Everton not co-operating with the investigation and Everton PLC are adamant that they did.
I'd expect to see the 10 points reduced.

Chelsea and City are relegated though, mark my words... ;)

Somebody just said on twitter that if city get the same 10 point punishment per charge they'll wipe all their points gained out to half way through 2010....

3 Kids 1 4 5

There's a big Center Parcs near Paris - Villages Nature. I think they have transport in to Disney from the park. I saw a tip that if you use the french center parcs site it's slightly cheaper.

Quote from: snoopdog on November 14, 2023, 12:36:39 PMI have a 2014 520d M. Nicest car I've ever driven. Got it last year very low miles. Had an egr and an airbag recall. Its a bmw so if something goes wrong it won't be cheap. Also has run flats another expensive option. But I love it.

Anything wrong with any car costs a fortune now unless you know how to sort it yourself.

I was told lately the EGR issue is to be sorted early next year. New system going in all the cars.

Quote from: Taylor on November 14, 2023, 08:23:34 AMWhat are the rules about posting videos of underage kids games on social media?

Messy. Both teams should be fucked out of the competition and a few heavy suspensions handed out.

Agree that stern action has to be taken against both teams.
I had thought there was a rule about posting videos of underage games (or even recording them)

I always thought there was a rule brought in a few years ago about third man into a scuffle got a straight red?

Was this a rule or did I just imagine it?

Only heard of that in ice hockey

Speaking of Ice Hockey, I always thought it'd be a good idea to let 2 lads go at it (like ice hockey) and have ref/lineman split it and deal with it when it went to ground. Would cut out the messier type brawls where men can get hit on the ground etc.

Maybe no one will agree with me, but I don't think it would be a bad way to go.

That's well and good when they are wearing helmets and protective clothing.

Partly true, they take the gloves off to fight. And in most cases the helmets come off.

The pads and all are a bit of a hinderance to them as well. If you take the pads off you're in for a big suspension and fine.

Never had a BMW before, but there's certainly enough floating about to suggest they're not a bad car to own?

I've the 2017 420d xdrive grand coupe version and apart from the EGR call backs it's been pretty good. Nice car and holds the road really well.
Work colleague has a 2015 430d and he got a massive bill for an engine problem lately. Can't remember the details of it though.

Have we really reached a point whereby a player can get sent off for a challenge in which he doesn't make contact?

——-

Honestly not sure what game it is that soccer fans want to watch. But I prefer to watch one with tackling in it.
I would agree with that thought the calls for Udogie to go were desperate.  Romero for me shouldn't be a red either but we are where we are.  Vinnie Jones etc, wouldn't last a game in 2023

Is that a bad thing? He was shite

Quote from: johnnycool on October 27, 2023, 02:31:28 PMIt's only on here I've ever heard of the Ards clubs considered as being East Down.

Geographically yes, but when there was an East Down and South Down board (there very well may still be) but there was never any representation on the East Down board from the Ards clubs.

I think we do compete in the East Down Scór though, but that's only for the young wans wanting to do a bit of buck-leppin over the winter.

At underage hurling back in the 90s you boyos weren't invited into the east down league either. You must have just played each other. Don't think there was many years of 2 leagues though, teams started struggling with numbers after that, barely enough for 1 league outside the ards for a while.

Quote from: downtothecore on October 27, 2023, 06:55:31 AMSt Michael's magherlin is likely our most westerly club in down.

St John Bosco's pitch actually is

Glenn is second but only marginally, to Shamrocks/Pairc Esler.

Ballyvarley must be close too.

Correct, they'd be next after Shamrocks.

Interestingly, Aghaderg/Ballyvarley are not as west as Pairc Esler, but further west than Mitchels pitch, which is only metres away from Pairc Esler in a South East direction

And for Ballela being known as a west down club - Clanna na Banna, Tullylish, St Michaels, Annaclone and Drumgath are all further west. Don't think I missed anyone. There's a big area with not many sports grounds at all really

Order from west to east:

Bosco
Glenn
Shamrocks
Aghaderg/Ballyvarley
Mitchels (inactive)
Tullylish
Ballyholland
Saval
Clann na Banna
St Michaels
Burren
Warrenpoint
Mayobridge
Drumgath
Rostrevor
Annaclone
Ballela

I wasn't thinking about the south coast clubs when I was looking at that. Interesting - Ballela need to change their info to mid down

Quote from: trailer on October 27, 2023, 12:54:22 PMThere's a couple of sides to this. I don't mind influencers and some are pretty good, certain food ones, I follow a few others GAA, Travel, Homes etc. And if they can make a few pound out of a company good luck to them. Some for sure aren't my cup o tae so I ignore them. Rory's stories for example, but good luck to him all the same.

For me Smyth, Cardone, Kym Calvert they're all in a different box. They're peddling some bullshit lifestyle. They for me are poison.

This is the big one for me. Day hired motors, apartments and office areas for videos and instagram shoots making it look like they own it. bullshit

There was a young woman from somewhere in the US being shared on twitter basically fed up after a few months in full time office hours having to travel in and out of the city while doing a 9 to 5. A lot of people were slagging her off but the problems is dickheads have been telling young ones they can do whatever they want and make a fortune - that's not really achievable for most though. The girl was just thinking how are you meant to have a life if your travelling to work from 7 to 7 every day. And she has a point.
When I cam out of uni in 03, we knew the first few years were going to be shite, working long hours to get up the ladder but everyone wants to miss that part now.

Quote from: Truth hurts on October 27, 2023, 09:11:53 AMThe South/East divide has always seemed healthy to me. The South/East underage finals should be brought back since they were a fantastic show.

I believe there is still time to save the two boards, but I am not sure why they were stopped. They worked hard and provided us with some really good administrators.

The problem with the divisional boards is that because they have been reasonably well run with regular matches now and more divisions to allow teams to play teams their own level, they end up playing the same teams too often in the year.

I don't know how that gets sorted though. Making weaker teams play the strong teams doesn't help either team but playing the same team 4 or 5 times in a season isn't great either.

My lads play soccer and it seems strange that there's a massive gap between the top, middle and bottom teams in one division but they get on with it. There can be a few hammerings handed out though.

Quote from: Feckitt on October 24, 2023, 01:30:12 PMCompare Newry to Lurgan. Similar size towns about 25 miles apart. Newry would be a bit bigger with an almost entirely nationalist population,  whereas Lurgan is famously split and would historically have more social problems. Newry is surrounded by GAA heartland where Lurgan is surrounded by very mixed countryside.
This year playing for Armagh in the Championship were Lurgan men Conor Turbitt, Tiernan Kelly & Barry McCambridge from Clann Eireann, Soupy Campbell & Shane McPartland from Clan na Gael and Andrew Murnin from St Pauls.
Down have no Newry men, and haven't had for years!!

That's a good comparsion.

Newry seems a bit like Derry City.  Big potential and population etc. but needs investment.

I think there's an Armagh club in outskirts of Newry?

Somebody told me that the two schools in Newry, Colman's and Abbey now haven't got as many of the south Armagh boys as they all head to the big school St. Paul's in Bressbrook. To the detriment of school's football in Newry.
You've Thomas Davis Corrinshego just off the motorway there with a brand new club house and pitch but they haven't really got the players to match the facilities yet.

Yeah St Pauls would probably pick up a fair few that might have went to Newry in days gone by.

And St Ronan's - there always was a few Lurgan lads on those McCrory winning teams.

Similarly, Ballykinlar, a team who reached Down SFC finals in the 60's and won a few JFC titles in the 90's are now folded too. Again, the club of Paddy 'Mo' Doherty as well.

How? Are there a lot of clubs in Newry? How does a club in such a big town fold?

Soccer, beer, cocaine. GAA wouldn't be big in the city anyway. Newry Shamrocks have good enough numbers I think but wouldn't be anywhere near the top teams in Down.

Mad Ted, they've two big GAA schools as well, Abbey and St Colman's.

You wouldn't have many from Newry on either of those teams though. Abbey would of had more Newry lads over the years.
