'From all accounts Harpo had a stormer, maybe this is his way of proving to the senior managment team that he is worth his place!'

Are you for real here - I mean really?????

'Stephen Kernan - an u21 all-ireland medal winner, who was one of the most influential players on that team' -

maybe true - but his performances when given his numerous chances at senior level have not been too hot. Compare that to other guys who have been put on the team for 1 game and then dropped off the radar for ever more - I think you would have to admit he is getting treated favourably as the managers son.

I think there is a risk here of overdoing a particular subject - the Aidan O'Rourke debate has been done to death - yes he is a good footballer and probably should at least be on the county squad but for whatever reason he is not - next subject please....

Some back slapping been done here. Glad it was a good day tho. Think it funny tho that some people who did ask why some of the harps players were going to other clubs have been called begrudgers. Surely this was a legitiate question. Rufus, in one of your posts you sound delirious - get a few tablets.

That is the usual rubbish being spouted 'grow a set of balls', 'orchestrated campaigns' etc etc. Maybe I only have one post due to the fact that although I read articles sometimes on the board I never posted, until now. I do not think that you have a veto on who can and cannot set up an account to post on the board. unless you can tell me different.

Armagh / The Harps and transfers
March 01, 2007, 09:06:12 AM
I think there is a bit of burying the head in the sand there Rufus. There are a number of people who are trying to leave the Harps at the minute - that is widely known. I am not sure what their reasons may be though I have heard differing accounts. Whatever the case the feeling that I get from these guys is that they are not going back to the Harps anyway. Therefore to obstruct their requests for transfers (which has happened) is pointless I think and antagonises them further. There is nothing to be gained for the club from going down this route.

You seem to be of the opinion Rufus, that you should stick by your club no matter what. I do believe in loyalty to my club but not loyalty at any cost and not blind loyalty. It is a 2 way thing. Your club should expect your loyalty and should receive it but in return, players should be treated with respect and their welfare looked after. If that is no longer the case, you cannot totally blame players for looking elsewhere. I think it is also useful to try and understand the reasons why some players want to leave the Harps and go to other clubs. If you understand this some of the things which have been going wrong, can be put right and the situation prevented in the future. Just my opinions, for what it is worth.
