GAA Discussion / Re: London Senior Championship

I know that his transfer came into London from Salthill all right and that he didn't play Championship for them. I am assuming that everything is in order, because iin this town they aren't shy about objecting and counter objecting and appealing and going to the DRA etc etc etc- hence the final being played on Dec 9th.I don't know enough about the intricacies of the transfer system, but I assume everything stacks up.
He is a class act.

There have been some horror stories about the GAA in London. As recent as last month one delegate at a county board meeting stood up and said that his team weren't going to take the field for the 2006 SHL semi-final until the SHL Finals which they had qualified for of 2003 and 2004 had been played. The delegates nearly pissed themselves when he said it... but at the same time he did have a vaild point.

Tara would be favourites. Damien Healy (Westmeath) Paul and Senan Hehir (ex Clare), Conor Beirne (ex Roscommon) and Chris Donnellan (Mike's brother) all playing for them. Stuart McKenzie Smith out injured. Also lost Paul McDermott (Letrim) and Damien McKenna (Monaghan) because of hold up in Championship - both opted to play at home. Managed by former Westmeath under-age All Ireland winner Martin Murtagh.
St Brendans don't really have any big names in their panel. Best players they have are Paul Malone(Louth), Billy Molloy (Wexford), Adrian Brett (Sligo), Gary Cullen (Wicklow), Fergal Greenan (Monaghan) and Paul Tierney (Tyrone), but no real "household" names.
SFC in London has been a real chore this eyar. Two major hold ups and everyone has sort of lost interest. Winners play Munster Champs in January in Ruislip.

Funniest put downs in games

Star under-age player in Armagh (now uses this Board) tells referee during the game that he thinks he is the worst referee he has ever seen.

A little later said star under-age player misses a penalty, as he walks past the referee says "You know what, I think you are the worst player I have ever seen"

Isn't there 12 beeps in each level?

Just downloaded a beep test mp3 and can confirm that there are 12 shuttles per level. So multiply by 12 people. Youre actually fitter than you thought

No harm to you but I hope you aren't planning on listening to it on the ipod all the way through.

Apparently the former All Black Michael Jones was able to reach level 19 in his prime, imagine trying to run after that fcuker all day.

Was involved in some fitness testing last night and although there was nothing that spectacular among our modest crew I was wondering if any one has any amazing stories of endurance to recount on the bleep test.

What about the great mop-top of the 80s Tommy McDermott?
