.........
The two things I would like to see are
1) less of the lateral side-to-side play in an around the D area when attacking
and 2) a reoccurrence of the intensity shown in 2013.. The lateral play was developed to draw out or unpick the blanket defence (and worked best against a congested Donegal defence in the 2015 USFC final) but teams are aware of it now; it kills the momentum of the attack. We were flat last year, and lacked the intensity and bite that Monaghan football teams traditionally possessed in the past.
..........

Though i haven't seen the full game yet, will do so on monday on eirsport. I think both those points you mentioned  were addressed. The attacks were fast and direct and game intensity got a 7/10.

One odd event here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6RDlal9VDA
Darren Hughes tangling with his counterpart,  a posee of (cowardly) mayomen arrive, then they all stop their antics on the spot to gander at the huge floating free kick by Rory Beggan(?) :D

Did it go over?

No. Beggan clipped the free short to McManus, who hit it well wide.

Yeah, COCs clip on the corner back was petulant but it was hardly an attack ffs  ::) Deserved yellow card but nothing more

I thought Coen was one of the few who showed leadership

Coen was probably our second best back, after Newcombe. I thought Coen's distribution was good as well, he provided the assist for a couple of our scores.

Just after looking on Mobdro and PremierSports is there. One of the games will be shown on that anyway.

For those of you not connected to eir Sport you can access eir Sport and all sports channels by being on wi fi or broadband download mobdro(Google it) and away you go.

Don't think Eir Sport is available on Mobdro. I can't find it anyway.

IT Sligo took care of GMIT by 3-13 to 2-7. Tough one next up away to UCD.

IT Sligo are home to UCD next week. Still very tough to see them winning it.

Would it not have made sense to fix the intermediate football & junior football games between Mayo & Kerry opposition as a double header?

Ennis or Limerick would be close enough to half way between the teams (Ennis probably closer to the halfway point).

Especially with Westport and Louisburgh being neighbouring clubs, I would have thought a lot of people would want to go and see both games.

It is a double header in Ennis. Both games are being streamed live by localstreaming.club as well.

Never mind that All Ireland nonsense - What about the FBD ?

Looks like Mayo will be seriously short on numbers against NUIG this weekend. Might bring the boots over to MacHale park to see if I get a run out...

Why are we short on numbers?

There are a few injuries as well plus lads are playing for their colleges

Probably time to move on to 2017 now instead of talking about 2015's affairs...

The Mayo News confirmed that most of the Mayo senior squad are leaving for their team holiday next week so will miss at least the first round of the FBD League. DO'C, Paddy Durcan (both DCU) & Stephen Coen (UCD) will be playing O'Byrne Cup so won't be playing any FBD. Keegan and Keane will also be unavailable due to club commitments with Westport. New players called up include Rory Byrne, Donie Newcombe and Neil Douglas from Castlebar Mitchels and 5 or 6 from this year's U21s.

Always interesting going to these games to see some new faces.

If Mayo GAA weren't filling the columns in the papers, we'd be a while waiting for something interesting from the champions...

Will there be any changes to the Connacht panel for this weekend or is it the same 23?

Really looking forward to tomorrow. The forecast is dry with minimal wind so it should be a good game. 50:50 game IMO, playing in MacHale Park might swing it for Mitchels.

Tourlestrane v Mitchell's
David v Goliath
Town v  country

I think we can give Castlebar a decent battle and have good subs.  Hard to beat one of the best teams in the country but we can at least try...

What's the spread on this one?

Anybody know if this game will be televised / streamed?
Am I right in saying it is in Markievicz Park Sat at 2?

It might be streamed live on localstreaming.club. They said they were going to try and show all of castlebar's games.
