Mark Rooney should have got that job. Did a great job two years ago with the same team at minor level.
Any idea why Mark wasn't kept on at the time.
No

It shows the reality of Laois football at the moment when there is not too much out there to improve the county team.

From the names that were mentioned donw through the thread and those who saw game time against Westmeath what new players could realistically be given a starting jersey in 2 weeks?
Possibly Glynn. That's it though.

Does anyone know if Paul Cahalane is involved in the panel this year. He was named earlier but haven't seen or heard of him being there since.
He is, yes.

I believe the panel was to be finalised today after training, with possibly 12 cut. anybody hear anything
A bit unfair that some unnamed played strolls back this morning while a dozen lads get the bullet after bursting their holes for the last two months.
Anyway, if said player is good enough come the summer, I guess that's the measure.

I see where Mark Brehony of Sligo has retired from inter county. Him and Dermot Brady of Longford who did the same recently were the longest serving inter county players.
I wonder does the title pass to Ross this year?

Does anyone know the rules around club transfers. If a club disagrees to a transfer is the player free to go after a period of inactivity despite the objection
you seem to be from Derry. This sub forum probably isn't the best place to find out what you're looking for.

Who are the clubs in trouble,

Trumera?
Kilcavan?

Fair play to them for highlighting the issues facing them, hopefully their decline can be arrested
Kilcavan are picking up at juvenile level. They'll be OK.
Trumera and Kyle are my guesses. I can't see the ten that was reported though. Barrowhouse?

He appeared to take a swipe at us alright. It's been all slowly downhill since that Leinster win for us .
His parting swipe at Laois was "they won nothing since". However, a Tommy Murphy Cup apart, neither did he.
Hold on. Three things here.
Firstly, there's enough people degrading the Tommy Murphy Cup, a Laois man shouldn't.
Secondly, he was right, we did win nothing since.
Thirdly, a Tommy Murphy Cup with Wicklow is a hell of an achievement.

Let it go lads, we loved him more than he loved us. No matter. He gave us great days. The ride was unrale.
I didn't denigrate the TM Cup. I simply stated that it's all Micko won after he left us.
I just thought he came across as a bit unnecessarily bitter against us.
There was a nice feel to the whole documentary bar that.

I have heard that he didn't mean it to come across like that that it was edited and cut he had a lovely piece in it about Laois and how friendly the people were.
It's a pity if that's the case. I actually don't doubt it is because Micko remains on very good terms with most of the officials and players from the 2003 to 2005 period. There was a huge Laois crowd down at his wife's funeral 4 years ago.

They are our Moms, Wives, Girlfriends, Sisters & Daughters playing the same sport, I think we need to accommodate within reason.  There is a large amount of females keeping the GAA going.   We simply have to show a bit of leadership here and give them a helping hand.  I would be disappointed if this simple commitment is not met.
The large amount of females keeping the GAA going is not in question but it's not relevant either.
I've no problem with the LGFA and Camogie using the GAA grounds but they seem to want their cake and eat it by staying outside the GAA.

I would also like to mention the proposal to allow both Ladies Football and Camogie a firmer standing within the county as a major positive, it is criminal that the Ladies County Teams and finals are not played in O Moore Park.  It may not be feasible at juvenile but there is no justification at Senior Level.
Fair enough but it would be nice of the Ladies Football and Camogie people to meet the GAA a bit on it. They refuse to come into the GAA yet want all the benefits of their infrastructure.
