Derry V Mayo in Celtic Park. For whatever reason we seem to be very strong in these circumstances. I can see us winning by at least 5 and im not being cocky or disrespectful in the slightest, it just always seems to be a big factor for us. We have a great league record in Celtic Park against many teams including Mayo and when we are on the front foot we can be very good. In saying that, championship would be a very different matter no doubt, particularly for us.

Good Work Mystic Meg !

Next time you decide to put the blink on someone can you leave Derry out of it please ?

Feel free to give your prediction on the Galway vs Tyrone game next weekend  ;)

Its the first time Mayo have took points off Derry since 1990. When you ally that with Derrys record in Celtic Park in the league I'm not embarrassed in the slightest by saying I could see a 5 point victory.

To be fair I also made that post before the teams were announced so I jumped the gun maybe. I didn't bother going because of club game in Cookstown beforehand so cant speak for what happened but the experimental lineout did not inspire confidence (fergal doc at half forward, etc).

I predict Tyrone beat Galway by 10 with Colm Cavanagh playing a blinder

Fair enough Whiskey

I wasn't too surprised that a lineup which reflected a fair amount of jiggery pokery on the part of Cass found it tough against a Mayo team that's been very much a form team.  From what i heard they were unlucky not to end up with the points from their game against Dublin.

But in fairness, if you're going to dabble in a bit of jiggery pokery, then i guess the league is the time to do it.

Next two games are crunch time, win against Monaghan next weekend is vital.  I see Padraig hughes is on duty for that game   :-X  Can't say that instils me with a great deal of confidence !  I've seen him at work a couple of times in the last few months ...

I like your latest prediction, i'l subscribe to a bit of that there please  ;D

What a half of football !

Two teams giving it their all.

I well enjoyed that,  only difficulty is picking the highlight ...

For me it's got to be between Gerard O'Kanes point after some nice play from Paddy bradley

Fergal Doc's point or his goal effort which came off the underside of the cross bar

Skinner's pick up out by the corner of the sideline, and then beating his man .. I know the shot went wide but was still great to watch.

haven't heard much build up to these next set of fixtures at all.

If anyone can post updates later to the games,  it would be well appreciated.

Thanks

QuoteAre there any bars in London that have Setanta which are shopwing the Derry v Dublin game at the weekend?

Any exiles in london able to help me?

What part of London are you in ?

I'll give you the name of a few good irish bars in different areas of London that will be showing it:

The White Bear - Kennington
The Kingdom - Kilburn
The c**k Tavern -  Euston
Marquis of Granby - Leicester Square (bang in the city centre)

I'd say the O'neill chain of bars would be showing it as well.  But i'd sooner sell my soul than watch a game in one of these "irish" bars

13th February ?  Are the St Galls footballers not due to play on the 14th ?

Would that game not be rescheduled ?

Maybe i'm wrong in the above.

Antrim / Re: Antrim Football Thread

Considering the players Antrim had missing they put on a good show today.  Stand out players for me were Paul Doc and Herron.  Big Magill also proved to be a handful for the Derry defence, i think he will only get better as the league goes on.

Can someone clear this up for me please ... i've been told Gerard O'Boyle hasn't played club football for two or three years but i've also been told he's playing for Dunloy ?   It'd be a strange situation getting a call up for the county team and having no club at all.

Think Down will prove a much sterner test on Wednesday night.  Marty Clarke is supposed to be flying at the minute.  Who would you put on him ? James Loughrey ?

Anyone any idea of what sort of team Antrim will be fielding on Sunday ?

Whos missing aside from the St Galls lads ?  Tomas Mc Cann and Justin Crozier ?

Pretty impressed by St Gall's today.  Have to admit I was surprised by the winning margin.  Thought that Loup would have made a real fight of it.  St Galls went in at half time with a four point cushion.  Despite the cushion I still considered that the game was far from over.  I felt Loup were still in contention courtesy of a John Brennan half time team talk and a slightly favourable wind in the second half.

But Loup came out and scored a solitary point the whole second half.
I know Loup had a spot of bad luck and were very unlucky not to get a goal but there's no doubt that St Gall's were the hungrier and fitter side.

With players of the calibre of Karl Stewart and Sean Burns coming off the bench it is hard not to admire the strength and depth of St Gall's.

How many other Antrim club players do you think would get on the St Gall's team ?

I'd have 6 non-St Gall's players on my Antrim club select team:

1. P Graham
2. C Brady
3. A McClean
4. K O'Boyle
5. T Scullion
6. J Crozier
7. S Kelly
8. M McCann (Capt)
9. A Gallagher
10. Kieran McGourty
11. Kevin McGourty
12. T McCann
13. CJ McGourty
14. R Gallagher
15. K Niblock

Darren still plays,  made a valuable contribution in St Galls win over Cavan Gaels.

He's a bit of an all round sports man,  he recently got narrowly defeated on points in a boxing match against David Haye in Germany.

Many commentators felt that the decision was daylight robbery.

Anyone at the game today ?

Only thing I have to go on is the BBC report,  which suggests that Kevin Mc Gourty has awoken from his slumber and started to play some ball.

Did the game reflect St Galls showing what they are capable of or was it a case that Clontibret had quite a few injuries and were not up to scratch ?

Have to say I'm looking forward to the final I think it should be a great game.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling
November 03, 2009, 08:42:41 PM
There's only one solution to this debacle.  All Tyrone Club Football matches should be suspended from taking place for at least two years, the County Team should be banned for at least a year.
Time and time again Tyrone Gaelic Football gaves the wider GAA family a bad name.  Time to throw the book at them.
In fairness, the Tyrone hurlers should be allowed to go about business as normal.
