Is Mitchell not a Carrickedmond man by birth?

I hope there is a strong link otherwise we are just doing a Cavan.
If he is originally from Longfrod then no problem........otherwise just no.

QuoteSeamus Moynihan was completely deserving of his All-Star. He was Kerry's Man Of The Match in the Munster Final and the semi-final. He also played well in the final and 1/4 final.

Blanket you judiciously ommited the Longford game.
If Francie is losing an All star for one bad game then Seamus is lucky as ge got a far bigger roasting than francie did

I'd go with Damien Reilly. Had just about everything.
A gentleman off the field as well.

Have a lot of time for Mc Cabe. Know him well enough and never took him to be the Prima Donna he is made out to be.
Been a great player for Cavan in my opinion.

Jim Reilly was class too but he went down very easy once in Breffni in a game with Longford resulting in a Longford man getting the line which I never forgave him for.

Sean Kiernan played very few poor games for yee either..........

Other men I thought were very good for Cavan were John Brady from Laragh, Philip Smith from Crosserloughand of course the Fintan Cahill who was very hard handled on his day.

Don't think Forde gets the credit he deserves either.

Padraig Murtagh(?),
In Australia for a few months so I'd say not involved at all.

Pity about Haniffy. Thought when the list had been published in the papers it meant these were guys that had agreed to go in.
Not sure what would have been learned in a trial game yesterday with the conditions. I'm sure there'l be more before a panel is announced.

Longford / Longford Football (& Hurling) Thread

Just thought we might as well get one started.
Anyone see the panel for the county trial game on Saturday.
a few interesting names.........P Davis, D. Hanniffy & N. Sheridan to name but a few.
Overall not sure if there is a whole lot to add to what we had last year. A lot of the bench in at this too.
Maybe Sean McCormack an add something. If Hanniffy gives the commitment it could be good.
We have a coupl eof new faces in and as previously discussed the old 2 Declan Reilly's conundrum has come a step closer.
Co. board seem to have gotten obver this by using (not cornadrung) as part of the new Declan's title!!

Read the Anglo Celt a good bit and the most amusing thing I find is if Longford beat Cavan at any age group from Under 8 to Over 40 you can never get a report in the Celt, while if Cavan win........well thats a different story. Think the last time I saw a report of a Longford win was about 5 years ago in a league game......donno what will happen if they ever meet in the league or championship again and Longford win!!!

David Barden did a very good impression of Derek Savage 3 times against Dublin this year with men free inside him. Only difference is Barden went for goals each time .......and missed. If he even had to fist the ball over the bar we'd have won.
There was an old boy in the stand beside me that day and his reaction was priceless every time it happened...........by the 3rd time I was glad there was a fence around the pitch!!!

Strugglling a bit with this one. At the end of the day he's not a Cavan man and he's not far from his own county.
How do any of the Cavan lads think they'd feel playing for Fermanagh for example. I don't think yee would have the same desire at all.
For that matter how would yee feel if Paddy Brady decidied he was going to play county football again but he'd perfer to cross the lough and play for his lovely neighbours in Longford. Not best pleased I'd say and to be honest (and I know the lad well) I'm not sure I'd want him because pure and simply he's not from Longford.
It's getting a bit like the old soccer transfer market to tell the truth
