As a neutral the ref had a great game. Was constant mostly in his cards, no human us ever 100% consistent. Called off the ball fouling that dubs and kerry usually get away with. Thought he should have added a few mins at the end due to subs etc during injury time

Good player, a servent of 17 years to the cause is to my admired. I am being genuine here, in his prime, would he make the Dublin team in the 6 forwards? Or Kerry or Tyrone forward 6 of the noughties?

Seeing that his prime was probably two years ago when named footballer of the year and scored 3-24 from play that summer the short answer would be yes.

In his supposed prime 2 years ago the idiot manager brought him off in the last 10 with the game in the balance v Dublin
. The reason Moran went off was because he was injured and if there was a replay would have missed it, but never let the facts get in the way of a good story

Sad to say but Brolly has out done himself in his report in the snido.  Has got to be the most shameless person in this country, Last week it was high praise ,this week rehashing the Holmes  Connelly fiasco  and basically saying a lot of the players are gutless cowards. How some Mayo people have time for him is beyond me

Watched the game again last night and for me me David Gough had a good game in difficult circumstances and does not deserve the slating he is getting over on the WJ blog and in some comments here.  Keegan grabbed Murphys jersey and that is what the ref saw from his position on the field. On the Higgins black card Gough did consult with his umpire and does not have replays .Not sure how he missed the pickup from O Shea  but maybe he was unsighted.Always hate the fact that after 5 min of any game the first comment is that the ref is brutal or riding one team despite evidence to the contrary

That's why Keegan is not near the player of Connolly. Easy to stop someone from playing
Shocking wide.
Do not forget that Keegan has outscored Connolly in all his duels with him but you are right ,not near the player Connolly is :) :)

That second half today was just a fantastic advert for football. I was glued to it.

The mayo lad that flicked the ball to himself six inches from his goal line in extra time must have balls of steel. I was pissing myself laughing at the audacity.
Thought that was absolutely brilliant and have watched it a few times since  and it seemed to Paul Walsh the most natural thing in the world to do.Absoulte class

He's twice the player Cillian O'Connor is.
Jeez South Dublin Bro you are an idiot. Michael Murphy is a super player and I do not know why you bring C.O.C into it

Certainly made hard work of it. Very flat and stale first half, that was to be expected after losing by 9 and 10 points the week before. Heard Higgins had a bit of a knock. Forwards were awful in the first half. Lot of poor decisions made by our players too. Hard to believe we managed to win it, as usually the opposition would make us pay in some fashion. Next Donegal in Castlebar, based on today we won't get within 5 of them.

This was our 5th week out in a row. We had no Higgins, Ruane, Diarmuid and Paddy. Played for the main part sh1te and we still won by 9 points.

And not to forget that Aidan O'Se is carrying an injury. Not a bad result when all that is considered.

Any chance of Diarmuid and Ruane coming back in the next 2 weeks?
I am sure David  Brady will have that info for us shortly

That is a tough read  ,Rosfan. Very tough for the players to be able to put in the effort year after year knowing there is no hope of ultimate success.Watched only pieces of todays game and I was one who would never miss any part of any championship game.Dublin will win this years all Ireland and they can win the next 5 for all I care. The system is rigged in there favor no matter what spiel we are fed from Croke Park and it is not going to change.

I also fail to see how mcguinness has proven himself enough in any form of soccer to be in significant demand...

If talking shite is a prerequisite then Jimmy will go toe to toe with most. Fake it til ye make it Jimmy.
no surprise that good old fashioned begrudgery is alive and well

I know you are not a fan of Horan, Moysider but that last comment is totally unfair. The fourth tough game in 4 weeks, there was only going to be one winner today and the idea that if the team was set up differently the result might have been different is totally bogus
