Shocking pictures in the papers today of murdered people, many of them innocent kids, by a gas attack in Syria. Could Assad be this mental?

What happened is terrible but is dying as a result of chemical weapons any worse than being killed by napalm, cluster bombs or a drone strike? All these methods of warfare are designed to indiscriminately kill as many people as possible but in the media at any rate, chemical warfare seems to be seen as a line not to be crossed for some reason. I'm not defending it in any way but it's a bit laughable that you can kill thousands of people in other ways without any real recriminations but using chemicals is a big no-no.

what is maybe worse, is seeing the survivors and how their bodies react to a chemical attack. you would almost prefer to see them with busted legs, battered and bloodied from a normal attack. if they get killed by any form of attack then that's it, they're gone but can these poor kids who survive, recover fully from a chemical attack, I'm not sure. its almost like a form of nuclear attack

I think i've felt exactly how you were feeling today.
we were heading home 'countrybound' on m1 one day and heading towards one of the slip-ON's to the motorway but i was in fast lane and just thought i'd look down to change radio station, suddenly my female passenger shouts WATCH and within a second all traffic was slowed from 70 til about 20MPH and i knew i couldnt get stopped or i was going to hit the car in front with an almighty force.
So in that split second, without even looking in any mirrors, i knew there was only one place i could go and that was left.
Now, til this day i will always be thankful, but our lives were saved only by the alertness of a lorry driver in the slow lane just slightly behind us, who either predicted a build up of traffic ahead as we approached or he could see the road ahead better than us but he slowed down giving me the space to get into, i didnt even have time to signal , i just had to go for it.
i was in big shock for a bit and pulled over a mile down the road and signalled my appreciation to the lorry driver, he knew i think that he had saved a potential motorway disaster situation !
i said some prayers that night !

Point taken that we aren't world beaters currently, but in a mediocre div 2 to say the least,we should not have been struggling to survive, nor should we be getting beat in the Championship by Roscommon and Cavan.

As I say the biggest indictment is the failure to bring through anyone from the 2009 AI Minor team that has established himself as a Senior player

and out of the managers since JK/PG era Grimley i think is the one trying hardest to give youth a chance. he will take some batterings in press after a beating like sunday, but he still has to be given a chance. I wouldnt get too hung up on near relegation in league either as a lot of boys were missing throughout and there was never any consistency getting built up, and thus also part reason for sunday.

The most bizarre statement of all was "I wou;dnt be much of a manager if I changed tactics/gameplan at half time!" Paul, the best managers are those who do change tactics immediately on becoming aware that those employed aren't working.

yeah, but only when they have the players to allow that

Giro D'Italia ----- I've a bet waiting on Nibali, as part of an accum from the weekend. I'm thinking should i attempt to cover my stake by getting on Cadel Evans now also. Does anyone outside of these two now have a realistic chance of winning it or is it still too early to say ?

got my first 2013 outing on bike today, 6 miles ! I got my bike and some clothing last year but had nothing left for shoes. got the shoes sorted now and pedals, so will build up gradually to make sure that i've the shoes fitting and cleats placed ok to avoid any injury and at the same time building fitness. looking forward to a good 6 months cycling ahead and will hopefully get into a sportive somewhere along the line.

I've a bit of a runners injury, not that i class myself as a runner before we start.

its a pain right on the kneecap and it was diagnosed 20 years or so ago as maltracking kneecap. i've only recently taken up running again but when i try and up the distance to 5 miles + runs , the pain comes into my kneecap. i think its classed as runners knee as well.

before i speak with a physio, has anyone here any recommendations or advice on how i can help it ?

Geezer actually lined out in corner forward for a while. we would have had a good laugh just watching him pre-game in the warm-up taking a few shots, because not too many shots were getting over the black spot  :D
we still beat the dubs in breffni though, in a league quarter-final i think, during his spell playing as a forward

The Broject is on the rocks.  He needs time but no sign of any advancement from mid table mediocrity.
He's definatley good at selling himself ( and can understand why others may have bought into it , namely FSG) and says the right things in the media, but almost david brent like!

Think he will be given time but certainly dont think he will be a long term fixture at Anfield. People are starting to see through the hyperbole and question his ability.

who exactly ? give us some examples of those people
