I can see why Lane missed it, I thought it was a good hit on live viewing during the match, there is no VAR/TMO so we cant check except with his linesman so he cant guess if he should give a card or not for something that seemed to look ok to him at the time, but he ABSOLUTLEY should have blown his whistle when he saw the aftermath of the hit. Himself and Deegan the king clown himself can have no excuses for that.

Most Dubs fans appear to be premiership fans first and foremost and inhabit that world of  "my team always right, your team always wrong" the predicates that cesspit. So the one eyedness doesn't surprise me. Small f*cked up what he was trying to do with devastating consequences for Eoghan McLoughlin, up to the GAA to decide if he should be sanctioned for that or not but the referee has to stop play to check on the player after that hit.

Some prize for the winner , a semi final v Dublin . Donegal miles ahead of Mayo anyway but I personally would prefer a five/six point defeat to donegal in castlebar rather than a twenty point trimming at the hands of the dubs .
Not the greatest vote of confidence in a team I've ever seen ;D ;D ;D
Hes yeraaing, we do it as well sometimes

Imagine for a second if that was McCann who did what Smith did there. Imagine the social media outrage.
When tyrone are playing you dont need to imagine anything, it happens right in front of your eyes, Smith got fouled after he hit that shot that was saved by morgan, peno all day, also after the save from cregg a tyrone player picked the ball straight off the ground in the big square but sure the ref was a rossie ;D

You've a vivid imagination. Will the Roscommon media be running a match report this week on how they beat Tyrone as they bid to defend their All Ireland title or does the delusion extend only to the performance of the referee?
They are always like that, the most delusional fans in the country. Won Connacht this year and you had grown Rossie men crying like it was Leitrim circa 1994

The above brought to you by a Mayoman. Doing delusion better than anyone for 70 odd years.
what is an "aros" anyway and why should i wear one?

Mayo need to feel the hangmans noose starting to tighten before they wake up and play I think. A different animal on Sunday but they will ABSOLUTELY give Meath every change of winning the game, similarly as they would if they were playing the pick of the national school kids playing at half time. There'd only be a kick of the ball in that encounter with the young gasuns from various national schools missing a penalty in injury time.

Yeah. I get that. How can that be sustainable?
Well, its not but has been there the past two years and it will take Horan some time to change that. but the raising or lowering your performance based on the quality of the opposition has been there for ages.

To the tyrone boys, I wouldnt get too worried yet to be honest. It takes a good bit of time for a team to get over an all ireland final loss as we well know. They have to be given time to rest and get back into it, it was clear our boys have alot more work done. While we didnt want it at the time our  early summer exit may stand to us in the long run.
Trick for Tyrone is to make sure you beat the likes or Roscommon, Monaghan and Cavan. As good as we were today in parts, wouldnt surprise me if we go to sleep next week against Cavan and calve out 2 points to them.

This week's Mayo News has a piece about the final panel. New inclusions are Fionn McDonagh, Oisin McLoughlin, Conor Diskin and Ryan O'Donaghue. Reape is also in the squad, while Shane Nally, Adam Gallagher, Conor O'Shea and Shairoze Akram didn't make it. Cian Hanley wasn't named either due injury. There are a few more names mentioned but don't have the paper to hand at the mo. The piece also stated the the panel would be open ended up to the championship.
It isn't in the online free version unfortunately. What do they expect us to do, pay for something? For Gods sake

No Brian Reape would be very surprising

Horan's unwavering trust of old stagers over younger players is well known. Honestly I'm surprised someone like Evan Regan is even willing to play under him again. Could still end in tears for some of the younger lads as that panel isn't going to remain that big for very long.
Sure you live in hope. Someday you might even be right about something. God is good

Big opportunity missed. Unfortunately started without a few players (L Gaughan and Surlis) and then G Gaughan got injured early on. Ballintubber are very ordinary. How on earth did they beat Castlebar? Diarmuid OConnor carried them over the line. Cillian was anonymous from play,  McIntyre won that duel easily. Harsh sending off helped them keep possesion of the ball for large portions of the last 15 minutes and bore to death those in attendance.
you should have put a "bitter poster alert" before that informative post

Ballintubber in a bit of bother here , although as I type tourlestrane have a man sent off . Very low scoring game 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of tubber.
And what a disgraceful decision it was too. Turned the game back in Ballintubber favour.
How? Ballintubber were winning by a point when he was sent off and won by a point in the end

3 Connacht championship games in 3 days this weekend for tourlestrane.  Minor final on Friday, ladies junior final on Saturday and men's senior  v ballintubber on Sunday.  That must be a record.  Great club with a great tradition, best of luck to all involved.
Yerra, an owl B final, sure anyone can get into a ladies junior final and Ballintubber will give ye an awful hammering in the senior. Wouldn't get too carried away :)

Question for parents.

If your 18 or 19 year old son, playing in a minor, U21 or senior game was on the receiving end of a dirty punch and ended up with a broken nose or worse, a broken jaw, what would you do?

Would you go to the police / guards?

Would you let the County Board sort it, with the potential of a lenient suspension being handed out?

Would you try and persuade the lad to leave the sport?

Just interested in other's experiences.  I'm not looking forward to the day my young lads are playing under the threat of something like that happening.  I'm worrying about it already.
Personally I would be inclined to go to the guards but its not as simple as that. firstly the young fella wronged may not want you to do that feeling that it'll be seen as "bad form", secondly I dont know how seriously the guards would take it and it might only make the whole thing worse.
The fundamental problem is that if you involve the law in these situations you are seen as a bit of a bollix. There are very few in ireland who will admit when their own are wrong but we have the highest of high standards when it comes to the "other crowd" whoever they may be. We need alot more honesty around a wrong being a wrong, and get away from the rediculous tendency to underplay an action either because a) we know the person who did it and "hes a lovely lad off the field" and "its totally out of charachter" or b) "sure he wasnt that badly hurt" just because the injured party doesnt end up with a jaw full of wire and eating through a straw for 6 weeks. If you box someone, especially if they are not expecting it, its only luck when they are not seriously injured.
