The rule says 'travelled 13m', it doesn't say anything about the 13m line.

Good point!

Ball must travel 13m and the players must be outside the 13m line when the ball is kicked.

Was checking The Guardian live match feed last night and even they pointed out how odd that Alan Parry refer to him as the 'NorthernIreland man from Londonderry....

I don't think it was odd - it was very pointed though. Lads have been sacked for less by this same company. Pretty poor from the commentator is you ask me.

I have a skybox thing that allows me to watch Sky for free (well for £20 a year) , all the channels and sport etc. I think I am going to get two more now and cancel the basic sky package I have. Alan Parry would be better talk shite about soccer than talk shite about something his tiny brain cant comprehend.

By being told that they "need to man up" etc by returning to play with the county team.

Hardly blackmail!

If a fella is sulking and wont play because of whatever relationship he has with the manager or he is waiting on a new manager well in my opinion he should man up - team is bigger than one player. If he is not playing due to injury, unable to commit or just doesn't have the interest then fine.

Intercounty players are amateurs, not indentured slaves. They volunteer to play for their county. If certain players opt out for whatever reason, their wishes should be respected and they shouldn't be blackmailed into returning against their will.

Blackmailed? I agree with you on guys being amateur and having freedom to opt out but how can anyone be blackmailed?

The talk of players leaving the panel because Hyland is still there just stinks of arrogance to me.. Of course it's their lives and their amateurs so they can do as they please.. but do they really think management is holding them back? Do they think that a going into the last game of Division 2 with a chance of promotion and losing out by a point to the eventual Ulster Champions is underachieving?

As each year goes by I become more convinced that the Cavan management position is one of the most poisoned chalices out there.. There is a complete lack of any realism from a lot of supporters. And it even seems to have seeped through to a few players.

And at the risk of repeating myself.. If Keating and Givney and Tierney are staying away because of Hyland, they need a serious reality check.

Here's the thing. I've gone to a lot of games this year and mingled and chatted with the odd lad. The people at the games might be disappointed but I've not heard anyone going on in a ridiculous unrealistic way about the team. What we do have is a bunch of dickheads on forums like hoganstand who quite clearly have a problem with Terry Hyland. Maybe he didn't pick them or one of their buddies or whatever but its clear there is a concerted campaign of attack on Terry. Every defeat is met with reams of criticism like Cavan should never lose a game, which is crazy - not even Dublin or Kerry supporters think that. Win a match and you hear nothing. For whatever reason Terry gets this abuse and it is totally unfair on a man who is 100% Cavan through and through. What will these people think when Terrys replacement picks the same panel I wonder.

Keating and Givney need to man up, suck it up and get back to playing ball and if they want to be pandered to well then they should feck off somewhere else - those days are over in Cavan thankfully. I wish Terry the best next year and hopefully it will be a better year.

Hyland staying on it seems.  Not good news in my opinion,  think he has run out of ideas so unless he has big changes planned I think it'll be more of the same next year.

I probably agree with you but on the other hand there could be worse scenarios when I see some of the names people are putting on there. If Terry does one more year and say Peter Reilly takes over the following year then Id be happy enough with that.

I think Terry needs to freshen things up a little. Could he possibly get Peter Reilly in as a selector to learn the ropes. Could he get someone else him that could work on an improved attacking strategy. At the end of the day the manager is about having a strategy and putting  the correct people in place around you to deliver it.

Finally we need to get the lads that opted out last year back in the panel - Givney & Keating especially. I dont know if there is a problem between them and management or not but for the good of Cavan football they should try and resolve it. Those two players also need to realise they are far from perfect themselves.

If Tyrone were playing Kildare they'd play in Croke Park. That's the difference.

That's for sure.

What I can't understand is the GAA even giving Cavan the option of refusing to play in Croke Park. Kildare are Leinster champions, Cavan are the back door team, Croke Park is a neutral venue

Navan is the sensible option ffs. Why not have all 4 Minor quarter games in Croke Park if that's the case.

Absolutely correct.

Whether a team is a back door team or not has nothing to do with the venue Hound so not sure why you are bringing  this up. Tyrone were also not good enough to make the quarter finals so what they would do is also irrelevant.

Wobbler - the main reason is that Kildare want it in Croke park before their Seniors play against Kerry ensuring that their minors would have a partisan crowd backing them. If it was played in Croker ahead of say the Sligo v Tyrone match I'm sure Cavan would have no problem with that.

As for Dinnys latest stupid comment about putting 15 men behind the ball, I think you will find that this Cavan team are one of the most attacking in the competition but sure don't let facts get in the way of a boring stereotype.

Cavan wouldn't play in Croke Park seemingly. I understand why but disappointing for their players. Obviously all players want to play in CP only applies to Seniors.

I suppose, unlike the Leinster counties who are easily bought, we would like to play in a neutral venue where support levels might also be level.

You're right winning is the only thing that matters in the development of 17 year old footballers.

Ah wise up ta f**k. Ye vote to play in Croker instead of your own ground (which incidentally is a total kip to be fair) for money, not to give your players a chance of playing in Croke park. So your county board like all the other in Leinster will hand Dublin a huge advantage every year for cash. Very sporting of ye indeed.

The Cavan minor team like most others train all year with a view to winning something, not to get to see the inside of the croke park dressing room. The idea that Cavan would concede an advantage like that to Kildare is ridiculous.

So anyone know what the odds are for the senior and intermediate championships in Sligo. I see few of the big boys have the senior but cant see intermediate anywhere. What ye reckon men of Sligo, who are the favourites?

Looking to get a racing bike, something second hand in the region of €500 to €750. Anyone got any suggestions? There are a lot of them on done deal but I have to plead total ignorance as I a haven't got a clue on Racer specs.

Second hand is probably your best bet. Do you know what frame size you need ?

I think about 52 or 54cm. Did an online thing to check this.

Some of ye Mayo lads should ease off on the whinging and complaining. It's referees, venues, how ye're management were selected, ticket allocations and where in the ground those tickets are for, Hyde Park, anything to do with Roscommon etc. And now the latest one!! The quality of speech delivered by someone presenting ye with the Nestor Cup!! If he said very little, he'd have probably been accused of being bitter towards Mayo...Go on lads, ye have an outstanding team, full of class with a loyal support. Some of that support need to show a bit of class as well and not be bitching about every little thing..This could yet turn out to be the best year of ye're lives. Enjoy it.

In fairness Mayo fans do like to have a whinge and a moan. Although I can understand their anger at the Limerick venue debacle and Cormac Reilly referring performance last year. Personally I didn't understand their issues with Hyde Park. The pitch stood up well despite the inclement weather of the day before. The standing on the terraces can be a bit of a discomfort for older patrons and also for the youngsters to get a view but overall I thought the venue was fine.
Mayo have a fantastic team and backroom staff who always give of their best no matter who they are playing so I suppose they have to direct the complaints somewhere.

There are bog roads in Offaly more level than the pitch at Hyde park, its a total shite hole in my opinion. Whats worse its been like that for decades and nothing seems to have changed. I can handle the old looking ground but surely something can be done about the pitch?
