I would imagine on the basis that young mcnulty plays for both they might put the minor final back a week.

To play devil's advocate, that's one way to look at it. Another is that he came on as a sub at the start of extra time after 5 subs had been used in the 60 minutes. Hardly the basis of denying the rest of his minor teammates the chance of playing in front of their senior counterparts in a county final. Surely playing in both finals on the same day would make it one the proudest days in Clonoe's already illustrious history!

Anyway, the Senior/Minor final in the same year has only affected 4 clubs in the last 20 years - Dromore in 92, Ardboe 98, Killyclogher 02 and Carrickmore 04.

Dromore played both on the same day and I think one of the O'Brien's played in the Minors and came on as a sub in the senior game.
Carmen also played but didn't have anyone that togged out for the Seniors I believe. One of the highlights of the day was the Carmen minor captain dropping an f-bomb during the speech to much laughter throughout the ground.
Ardboe didn't play in 98 on the same day - it was a JFC/SFC double bill that day. The Minor Championship ran late due to Tyrone winning the All Ireland Minor. Ginger and wee Brian were both an integral part of the Ardboe team that year in spite of Brian's broken collarbone so it's debatable whether the final would have actually went ahead.
Killyclogher didn't play either in 02 as one of the Minor Semi Finals went to a replay so the Co Final was preceded by the U16 final (Killeeshil v Cookstown). Again, Dermy Carlin started all year on both Killyclogher/Cappagh teams and he went man to man on Canavan in the Senior final and did a fairly good job until a typical piece of magic from God won Errigal the game. Incidentally, he also finished on the losing side in the minor final courtesy of a few posters from here.

Dudes, awaiting a reply from the ticket office, however one of ye may know if a juvenile ticket is actually at full price for the final ?????

If it is the case then maybe an older juvenile maybe able to take their place  ;) ?????

No such thing as a juvenile ticket for the final - 80 euros a whack for all. There are a limited number of youth group tickets at €5 each but you're talking less than 100 to each of the participating counties.

edit - all seats that is - i assume the hill is up to €40 a pop this year as well

I wouldnt say that rant is that well informed or accurate. To start at the beginning, who is Keith O'Hara, now who would want to mark him???

Probably some relation of Kaolan Daly

Tyrone / Re: Donnelly Installed as Minor Manager

Both Coyle & Donnelly (v All Ireland winners Down 99) and Munroe ( v Ulster winners Donegal 06) were beat in Ulster Semi Finals in their first year in charge so I wouldn't be too worried just yet.

As an aside there were 2 Tyrone teams in the MacRory final in 2009 and yet they got beat in the 1st round by an Armagh team that won the All Ireland. But like this year, many of the main men were overage for the minors.

Any truth that Dungannon hurlers were tanked tonight?

According to the main page of tyronegaa.ie, it would appear so! Nothing yet on teamtalk to confirm though

GAA Discussion / Re: Tyrone - Is this the end?

Correct, neither Swift nor Ricey played minor or u21 for the county. Mark Donnelly didn't make the minors in 2000 but was a panelist on the team that got to the u21 final in 03. Conor Gormley didn't make the minor panel in 1998 and Phillip Jordan was a sub that got very little football on the 98 AI winning team however both played in the 2001 under 21 winning side.

Well Barry Cahill starting at CHF should give you an idea that your team isn't as good as some of ye are making out . . . him and Cullen are defenders yet both will be starting in the HF line!!

HF is where your creativity comes from yet these 2 are not creative players. Tyrone will more than likely be playing Brian McGuigan and Peter Harte in their Half Forward Line. . . I think that illustrates the point I am trying to make.

Does it mean Dublin are going ultra defensive and are going to play loads of men behind the ball?

I was alluding more to this myth that Dublin have these great players when really they only have 2 decent forwards in their team. Like everyone else who comes up against a better team of course they will retreat and try to hit Tyrone on the counter. I don't think it will work for them.

Most of the tyrone forward line is still unproven. Tyrone will still need all of Mulligan, O Neill and Dooher to win this game at the wkend. So no change there

Sure so were McCullagh, Tommy and Penrose in 2008.....

Can't see dublin winning this one, Tyrone are timing their run to perfection and they are getting better with every game while Dublin have stumbled over the line in their last 2 games and they have had a break without football.

I honestly believe that Dublin don't have the natural footballers to win an All Ireland yet. . . same as Donegal and Kildare, too many gym monkeys.

Having said that if Tyrone have an off day like last year the Dubs have a slight chance but you can bet your house that Jim McGuinness is hoping for a Dublin victory. Donegal will not beat Tyrone again!!

Tyrone have about 6 guys starting on saturday who arent what I would deem to be natural footballers. You're not seriously suggesting Swift, Ricey, O Neill, Hughes, C Cavanagh, Donnelly are natural footballers are you? I would raise that by a few more as well.

As I said there is a lot of hyperbole about this particular Tyrone team based on sand in my view. If they were so good where have they been recently? A lot of people are basing their opinions on 05 and 08 in my view. I dont see anything for Dublin to be afraid of on Saturday. But due to their propensity to make a balls of things who knows what dublin team will show up.

Of the 12 starting forwards on Saturday there is only one at a push who would make the Kerry forward line. Food for thought for both teams.

Thats the reality. There are four good teams left and one very good side. Who are a mile better then the rest.

In this scenario, just what is your definition of a 'natural footballer'?

The invading the pitch one is the most annoying one.  After county finals anyone coming on the field could be fined £1,000.

Surely the peelers would actually have to be in attendance for this to be enforced?

DFS, you are plain wrong there. We have won squat nationally at senior level since 1995. Arguing the unarguable  imo.

As already pointed out, lady luck hasn't smiled at us at times, but the facts speak for themselves (sadly).

Yes but I don't see how what a team was doing 5 years ago has any bearing on what they will do this year....This Dublin team is pretty much a brand new team with very very few who were playing 3/4 years ago.
Dublin were more successful last year and this year so far under a new manager with new players and a new system so don't see what 2008 etc has to do with things?

The players seem to have picked up the sport pretty quickly then.

Regarding last year, they were no more successful than they were in any of the previous 14, in many of which they actually brought home some silverwear.

Actually they were less successful as they didn't even win the Leinster title.

Is it not time to get rid of this rule that you can't meet a team that have already beaten you, especially for the quarter finals anyway ?

That isn't the rule, the rule is that you can't meet whoever you played in the Provincial final in the Quarter Final

There's talk that this will be pretty close to a sell out

I would imagine so, there was 6500 in Aughrim last week, there will be no bother getting 5000 in omagh

Aye, but 5000 is only the stand. The other 13000 might have been a bit harder to shift.
