Daryl Darcy Cup (Munster Under 17 Football) Final at Gaelic Grounds - Tipperary 1-9; Limerick 0-6.  This is a development competition for the 4 weaker Munster counties.  Cork and Kerry do not take part.

Those 2 pages in the Sindo yesterday were pretty bad all right.  Not a good reaction at all so far here in Tipperary. :( :(

Some talk down this way that Lar Corbett is bringing out a book in the next week or so.  I can't see the new Tipp management being too happy with that if it is true.

Putting the Railway Cup Final with half interested players on before the All Ireland Final instead of the Minor Final is one of the worst ideas yet to revive the Railway Cup.  Imagine if Leinster and Connacht were in the Railway Cup Hurling Final this year, with no one from Galway or Kilkenny available.  Football might not be quite as bad,  but I could not agree with dropping the Minor Final from All Ireland Finals day.  Don't know about 3 matches, as the Minor Final starts @ 1.15.   You would have the first match @ 11.30 if this happened.  It is just not on.

Paudie O'Neill also played football for Tipperary for a number of years and captained Clonmel Commercials to a County title in 1982.   In his playing days, he would have been regarded as more of a footballer than a hurler.  He hurled with St. Mary's for a number of years.  He has been teaching in Dublin for many years.

Anyone surprised that Robbie Keane was injured for the game last Friday against Germany, but is fit to play on Tuesday against the Faroe Islands. ;) ;)

West Tipperary SFC Final - Eire Og, Anacarthy 1-9; Arravale Rovers 1-7.  First ever senior title for Eire Og.

Ireland are so bad that we would have no business going to Rio anyway.  The farther we are away from the World Cup finals the better.

Kerry v. Tipperary - 1st Round for the 4th year in a row.  What did we do to the Munster Council guys that they did that to us again. >:( >:( >:(

FFS.  After meeting Kerry in the 1st Round for 3 years you are now drawing us against Dublin.  Could you have not found someone a little easier to start off with.

After being drawn against Kerry in the 1st Round for the last 3 years, it would be nice if Tipp could avoid Kerry (& Cork) in their first game this year.  Surely, we won't get Kerry again.

Yerra, I'd have thought the Tipperary must have had a few notable individual performances in winning 3 Qualifier matches.

No harm to Longford, but they get 2 nominations and none for the likes of Tipp.

Mustn't be many Tipp journos on the selection committee...

Longford didn't beat teams of the calibre that Tipp did.

But you're right AZ, it will all come down to the semi-finalists.

It's just bizarre to see so many Leinster counties get nominations.
I know we all watch football through our own county coloured glasses, but from a Tipp point of view, I reckon that Ciaran McDonald was worth a nomination in the full back line.  We did beat 2 Leinster counties, including Wexford, in the qualifiers, but in all likelihood most of the selectors for the All Star nominations probably never heard of him.  On the other side of the coin 6 Tipperary hurlers were nominated and very few Tipp people would reckon that we deserved any where near that number.  The hurling selectors must have missed the All Ireland semi final against Kilkenny, Tipp's heaviest defeat since the 1890's.

Fine display by Tipp, way better than the drawn game.  Dual players Bill Maher, John McGrath, Dylan Fitzelle and Steven O' Brien first Tipp players to win All Ireland Minor Football and Hurling medals, playing in both finals and Colin O'Riordan right half back in the Minor Football Final last year was on the bench today.  Who said you can't be succesful with dual players on the team.  Jack Shelley and Jack Loughnane also won Munster Minor Football this year.

There is not the slightest chance that the Tipp forward line will line out in the positions listed.  The numbers on the jerseys of the forwards will bear no relation to the positions that they will play in.  AFAIK Jack Shelly is not related to Paul Shelly.  After all he is only half the size of Paul.  Steven O'Brien is dropped for Dylan Fitzelle and is not injured.  3 of the team - Bill Maher, John McGrath and Fitzelle won Minor All Ireland Football medals last year, as did O'Brien and Colin O'Riordan who are on the bench on Sunday.  Like the Dublin dual players, history beckons for them in this replay.  Good to see so many dual players including Jack Shelley and the Dublin lads involved in the Final.

Clearly the best man for the job and a very good appointment.  My only worry is the hype that there will be in Tipperary as a result of him getting the job.  As far as some of the hard line fans are concerned next year's All Ireland is in the bag already.
