Bin them and forget about them, you never get anywhere by looking backwards, look what that sort of thing has done to NI.
And next he'll be telling by denigning our own history it's a sign of " our maturity as a nation "  ::)

Were those attacks because he was gay (how did they know?) or was it because they were simply scumbags on the prowl?
I think they followed them after leaving a gay bar. The attack on Henry Street - their's a gay bar on Capel St which is at the bottom of Henry St. The attack in Christchurch - probably followed him form the gay bar on Gerorge's St. Maybe this isn't politically correct but to be honest, sometimes the gays are easy to pick out, you know, the effemitive hairdresser type.

What is wrong with believing that homophobia is wrong?

Ask Iris.
;D

I've read of serious attacks in Dublin on the gays. Remember reading a post by a gay man who was walking up Henry Street ( pedestrian street runs down one side of the GPO ) and two fellas grabbed him by the arms, twisting and yanking them behind his back, kicked his feet from under him causing him to smash his face off the ground as he couldn't put his hands out to break the fall. They then lashed into him with a serious of kicks and punches. The psycholoigacl effect on him was very frightening and I'd say a deep lifelong scar on him.

Watched on TV3 a gay man who was attacked at Christchurch, beat him to a pulp. He managed to break free and ran for it. Ran to a taxi at the lights with the others chasing him, taxi driver wouldn't let him into car. Other taxi came along, pulled up and ordered him to jump in and took him directly to hospital. It's only a matter fo time until one of them are killed. I think their was a man kicked to death up jn the Phoneix Park back in the late 70's. He wasn't gay but a gang of little scumbags thought he was.

It is sadly the truth. Many of us may not like it, myself included, but the 6 counties remain British and will do so for the forseable future. Anyone who thinks anything different is living in cloud cuckcoo land.
So the nationalist population is not going to keep increasing but inexplicablly come to a halt ? Your living in cloud cuckoo land.

On an all Ireland basis SF would be the third largest party in the country, how could that be saying they are on the verge of becoming obsolete.

Ulster is still legally British and has been as long as any of us have been alive.
Six of Ulster's counties are unfortunately under british occupation, so Ulster is not british  ;)

I'm not a 100% sure, but I think it was Richard Harris who said " If I win an Oscar they claim I'm British, but if I'm drunk lying on the floor I'm Irish;D

Gnevin easy. Indeed if their was a vote around here for the most conceited w@nker he would.......well, I better not say or else I will be in trouble with the mods. Been a Dub, always associted West Brit with those from the ' posher ' parts of Dublin like Garret Fitzgerald, Conor Cruise O'Brien etc who tried to copy the accents of the brit Hooray Henry type etc and are partitionist/castle catholics in their political views.

General discussion / Re: Best/Favourite Pub in Ireland

Never thought much of Mulligans, Poolbeg Street to be honest. I find it very ordinary. The Q bar at O'Connell bridge has some fantatstic hotties in it, that's if you get past the apes on the door. Johnny Fox's of Glencullen is a bit touristy of course, but a great pub all the same. The Crown bar in Belfast is a grand pub. Durty Nelly's in Clare also a good one.

Indeed RTE is the most crony appointed state body in the country - and that's saying something. Look at that recent rubbish Operation Armageddon, making Lynch out to be the senseable ' hero ' of teh hour by standing idly by  ::) What a crock of sh!t.

I heard that David Trimble refused to shake hands with Cathal Brugha's son Ruairi as he said that he would not shake hands with the son of a murderer  >:( Trimble had no problem shaking hands with Billy Wright and other loyalists of course.

Well Bernard trumps anyone else from Donegal. Patrick Kavanagh or the Clones Cyclone from Monaghan. Anyone of note from Cavan?

Catherina McKiernan is from Cavan
Shay Given or Packie Bonner from Donegal
Mushrooms from Monaghan
Monaghan has more than just mushrooms, Barry McGuigan ?
