NEW Zealand may vote next year on changing its flag, newly re-elected prime minister John Key said yesterday, as the country looks to assert an identity independent of colonial ties to Britain.

Foreign Students Trash SF Rental House Then Leave Country
San Francisco landlord Ritu Vohra thought she would give exchange students from Ireland a break on rent for staying in her home. But a break doesn't begin to describe what she discovered when they moved out. Christin Ayers reports. (9/19/14)

See the video below and share it so we can expose these bastards

The Irish community in San Francisco has rushed to offer help and support to Ritu Vohra, the landlady whose house was severely damaged by a group of Irish students in San Francisco for the summer on the J-1 visa.

Look at Scotland, 45% voted for independence and no violence. "No Padre Pio Jobs", no "Armed Struggle", nobody killed or maimed for life. Irish nationalists would have achieved a lot more if they choose peaceful policies. You can't bomb people into agreeing with you.

Are you doing market research?

No, I've just had it with banks! We need to get back to non-profit organizations, like Building Societies and Credit Unions.

General discussion / Would this work in Ireland?
September 24, 2014, 05:46:27 AM

Ocsober is about to start here in Australia, maybe it is something Ireland can copy!

SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION

Cutting the booze for just a month provides loads of health benefits. Your liver is in charge of emulsifying fats, so simply cutting out alcohol for just one month can help to trim up the waist line.

What has inspired you to do Ocsober?
Ocsober is a tangible way of demonstrating a personal commitment to raising alcohol awareness and reducing alcohol harm. I'm reminded of the harms of alcohol every day in my emergency department. Besides treating & advising patients who suffer from alcohol-related disease and trauma, I would like to personally demonstrate the benefits that can be had from reducing alcohol consumption.

General discussion / Is it possible to be posh and Irish?
September 24, 2014, 05:09:58 AM

"Absolutely you can. Class exists in Ireland as it exists elsewhere. We just deny it. It can be different because we don't have the aristocratic families here. In the 19th century being Anglo-Irish was posh. There's fewer of those sort of people now.

"Being posh now is very much down to what school you went to, what your accent's like; who you are connected to. So we do have posh in Ireland. Posh people have social, cultural, educational and, obviously, financial capital. Although money is not always the defining feature; sometimes poor can be posh."

It couldn't be any worse than any of the financial institutions we have been reading about in the media.

GAA BUILDING SOCIETY

As the GAA has a great reputation, I would like to see the GAA set up a Building Society.

As Building Societies are owned by their members It would have credibility and people would join it. It would provide a valuable service to members, especially low income members.

Services could be provided online, including on smartphones, where many financial transactions are already taking place.

What is your opinion of my suggestion.
