I can't wait to watch this one.  15 Tyrone players back defending, riveting stuff.

This Tyrone team is statistically the highest scoring team in the history of the Championship. Anyone who thinks they are a defensive team doesn't know if it's pumped or stuffed.

What does the stat mean?
Have you evidence to back it up?

Look at the stats for the highest points scored by a team in a championship season. Look where Tyrone 2017 and Tyrone 2018 are.

So are you saying that Tyrone in 2017 or 2018 have scored more than any team in any year?

Can you provide a link to the stats because I have better things to be doing. But if you are  making such a claim you must have the evidence?

If the suggestion was amended to Ban passes to the goalkeeper from outside the 14yard line. Any player in trouble inside the 14 can still use the keeper as an outlet.
But it stops players further out the field using the keeper as an easy option.
It also prevents short kick outs going to a defender and  then being returned to the keeper immediately!

If a player bounces (or solos) the ball with nobody near him and it goes a little bit too high and he taps it with one hand to bring the ball down and then catches it in the other hand.....is that a foul?

That's effectively what clifford did (except there was a defender in the way).

It's a sad indictment of the sligo/galway game when they didnt even analyse it on the Sunday game.one thing that did stand out at me was when Johnny heaney scored his goal Danny cummins barely looked at him as he celebrated,I'm not being negative but there have been rumblings of disquiet in the camp over player favouritism.i just hope all these things are put to bed as they prepare for another connacht final.

Last week Rocommon v Leitrim got a lot more coverage and analysis. I thought it was very disrespectful but typical of RTE though I'd imagine if there was "analysis" it might have been worse.

I don't know what analysis you saw of Ros V leitrim last week, but all i saw was joe brolly going off on a rant about 3 tiers!

Tipp would be tier 2 under current proposal.
The Provincials will still be with us too.

Brolly was talking about having (at least!) 3 tiers.

I'm still against it. Brolly was singing the praises of it after Ros hammered Leitrim, yet if he was to be consistent why the hell didn't he/they in the studio mention it after Offaly gave Meath a scare. Afterall it is supposed to be for the Div 3 and 4 teams who shouldn't dare put it up to higher ranked opposition.
Or Derry of Div 4 (this year) V Tyrone of Div 1
or Limerick 2nd bottom of Div 4 V Tipp of Div 2 (this year)

So the player taking the kick out can tap  it 5 or 6 metres and then kick it again?

Technically yes, but there is nothing to stop an attacker tackling him after he taps it the first time!

In theory the player taking the kickout could 'dribble' it all the way to the far end of the pitch (if not opponent bothered to tackle him!)

apart from croke park which is normally print at home . presenting the season ticket card itself is the normal process

Connacht finals in Castlebar and Salthill are print at homes too. Hyde Park was first come first served basis and tough shit if you're not in ages beforehand.
you could first person into the hyde and you probably be wet cold and have an obstructed view

Explain?

Not one referee from Dublin

There is one - Joe McQuillan.
don't forget Dublin deegan

Having lived close to Mayo for 15 years now and studied this strain of humanity and it's odd ways I can conclude that the only way mayo will win Sam is by having all refs from mayo. It is strongly believed in mayo that if referees were not biased against them that Mayo would never have lost any game ever and would have amassed well over 100 AI titles. Bias against Mayo is rampant in the other 31 counties, probably in the rest of the world too.

I don't know! Mayo people have always blamed decisions made on the line more. Maughan, Horan, Roachford have taken huge criticism for past failures.

And to be fair we took the greatest riding from a referee in Limerick in 2014.

I think the good people of louth might disagree!

Those common sense not prevail in the GAA.

The club broke the rules but the punishment does not fit the crime. Surely a wrap on the knuckles and a suspended fine would be sufficient.

I would agree with you Dinny, if the club broke the rules inadvertedly or if they were unaware of the rule.

However, from the rte article it appears that they requested permission and were refused twice, yet still went ahead with the tournament! If that is true I don't have much sympathy for the club.

Whether the rule should or should not be in place is irrelevant in this case.  The rule currently is in place, the club were aware of it, were refused permission to hold the tournament and still decided to go ahead.
Why say no twice though (other than insurance considerations which they could have stipulated that the club cover)?

Plenty of clubs in rural areas share grounds e.g.  Bredagh in Down use a council pitch.  Belfast Harlequins have allowed St Brigids to share there facilities.

Because it's against the rule that is currently in place!

Perhaps the rule should be removed, but until it is done so by congress  (and not by the social media congress!) the rule has to be applied!

Very little chat about El Classico this weekend. My prediction, the game will not finish with 15 v 15. I think its a real 50:50 game. That normally means McManus decides who wins it. Talk about Gearoid McKiernan possibly in line to feature.

I see the Galway v Roscommon game is fixed for 15:30 (with ours at 14:00). Does that not give them sway in who might fall through the trap door?  :o

Roscommon have to win the game. I'm not sure how knowing the result of Cavan V Monaghan is of any advantage to us (Roscommon)?

It'd be different it this was the last round of matches but with the final round still to come the time of the games this weekend makes no difference.

Very impressive display against Clare.
We really should have won by more.
Missed 2 very good goal chances in the first half.
From what I can see one win in our last 2 games will promote us as we have beaten both Donegal and Kildare.
Armagh are bringing us to Cross which will make a nice change.  I can understand why as we have a good record against then the last few years in the league. Can't mind Armagh beating us in the league.  League finals are a different story lol.
It won't be pretty but Armagh struggle against defensive systems like Fermanagh's.

if Fermanagh beat Armagh they are promoted (unless Meath lose to Clare), but if fermanagh lose to Armagh and beat Meath, it's possible that 3 times could finish on 10 points and then it would come down to scoring difference.

It would be some achievement for Fermanagh to get up to Division 1.

What do ye think of us (The GAA) buying Clonliffe College?

As per Peter McKenna

"our plan is to develop the site to deliver extensive GAA facilities, a new hotel to complement a proposed Cusack Stand redevelopment and, importantly, entering into a partnership with a developer to deliver substantial social and affordable housing,"

What business does the GAA have in building a hotel?
What business does the GAA have in building houses?

Also, whats the cusack stand redevelopment that is proposed?

If the site is going to be sold anyway, it might make sense for the GAA to purchase it, rather than letting it go to a 3rd party who could build anything there that might not suit the GAA. But I don't see how building hotels and houses promote the activities of the GAA.
