Quote from: southtyronegael on February 25, 2024, 10:09:26 AMVery heartened by that second  half. Team had shape, aggression, moved the ball much quicker especially with  the foot. Needs to be our template  going forward.never want to see another  half of football like the first half, particularly our attack.

Very unfair to blame our attack in the first half when the build up is slow & ponderous.
The difference in the second half with quicker ball to the forward line and more pace in the middle third was key.

Quote from: Tyrone Dreamer on February 19, 2024, 04:14:23 PMYesterdays game wouldn't help sell it to anyone but do the county board need to find ways to help improve the support and atmosphere at county games? Every McKenna Cup and league game is currently played in Omagh and can be a pretty drab place especially when the crowds are fairly low.

Would it not be better to take 1 or 2 games a year to other club grounds? A packed Carrickmore would have been better than a quarter full healy park yesterday. Dungannon should be another option going forward as well.

They certainly aren't playing them all in Omagh for the quality of the surface.

Great shout. The stand wasnt even full yesterday, we are getting particularly poor crowds. There is no justification now playing all home games in Omagh.

The only justification probably is the media tower in which Omagh have that other club grounds don't. Not sure if RTE/TG4 would work as well in Carmen etc.. Dungannon sure to be an option but parking is a serious issue at Dungannon if they were to host a big NFL game.

Don't think parking is an issue in Dungannon. Never was or has been and it has held many big games in the 90's and 2000's. The crowd that was there on Sunday v Galway wouldn't cause a problem to Dungannon

Omagh's best player is an Omagh man. Callum Daly at Centre Half Back is their best player followed by Ruairi McCullagh, Charlie Donnelly, Eoin Donaghy and Nathan Farry, strong argument could be made that he was also their best player last year. McElholm certainly had the biggest reputation last year but their were a number of players who outperformed him over the course of the season - Owens, Daly, McCullagh, Donnelly, Donaghy, Farry all had better campaigns.

Yeah it looks like Ruairi McCullagh from where I'm sitting

Farry, Daly and Donnelly have been very impressive. McCullagh has been wasteful, appears to be very greedy but this only my second time seeing him play so I will reserve judgment

Don't envy them

Crazy but there must be a valid reason why it is Tralee. It is some trek midweek for UUJ in fairness

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Derry folk, fully deserved victory - by far the better team. Murphy looks the real deal - there is a buzz in the crowd when he gets possession.

Not the bad news - never seen as bad an organised match in my lifetime. No car parking stewards before or after game, every man fend for themselves. No traffic plan, nothing, zilch, f**k all.

I would have been home from Kerry quicker!!

UU didnt have the Canavans against UCD. Surely that puts them as favs. How many college teams have 2 of the best forwards in the country.

Just checked that fact. According to the ScoreBeo app they did play. Ruairi started and Darragh came on at HT.
However, obviously Glass & Doherty didn't play

There was a discussion on here a few weeks back around the holiday period and quite a number of men were adamant the dates shouldn't be moved by 2 days as a Wednesday wasn't feasible.

Wait till they see the last 8 fixtures in Div 1 & 2 that is proposed.
4 on a Sunday and 4 on a Wednesday to wrap up the season.

Can't see how this is going to be accepted. One midweek or maybe two but 4 in a row in August won't suit lads who work in England or in the south.

But in fairness to the men setting up the system their hands are tied with the new county U20 group system plus the starred games in Tyrone having a limit of 5 games. Not an easy one to sort out.

McCormack, our no 7, got a yellow after it too.

McCormack didn't get a yellow. It was Michael McKernan got the yellow.

Him and Kilpatrick must have been hitting each other 🙄

Quote from: Walter Cronc on January 31, 2024, 10:23:18 AMHave they ever togged for UU?

In fairness to them, they would have little chance to play over the last 3 years with Glen going strong also combined with UUJ getting knocked out in the early rounds

Teacher in the Dean. Paul O'Hagan over Aghaloo.
I'm also certain that Damian Gormley won't be managing Killyclogher or anyone in the same division as Trillick.

I would agree on the D Gormley situation. No chance will he go against his brother and home club

Quote from: God14 on January 29, 2024, 01:47:29 PMBoth Academy midfielders were excellent - Hughes was a prominent threat, reliable from frees, but i thought their No. 9 was even better. Cant mind his name now. Lost count of how many clean kick outs he won, always an outlet on the Academy kickouts. Liam McGeary showed very well too in the SPAD attack
Agree on Noah Grimes, fantastic prospect. One to watch with Tyrone U20s this year

It was a really enjoyable semi final - especially when you consider that not that long ago, both these sets of players would have in all likelihood have been playing for the Academy. If Omagh CBS do indeed lift this years McRory cup, the emergence of Donaghmore convent taking boys in has cost the Academy a McRory.
Hughes has a fantastic strike on him for free kicks. Massive asset having a player who can do that. He played the majority of the game as full forward, so disagree with his impact at midfield. The number nine Dillon O'Neill had a very good game but shades of Holy Trinity last year as he is 19 years old playing against players one or two years younger than himself. Grimes is a great prospect but he will have better days on the football field, his 1-01 showcased his talent but he was also guilty of some very poor shots throughout the game. Ultimately what cost Donaghmore was the number 15 Corrigan blazing a goal chance over the bar when he had a simple chance to square the ball for a palm to the empty net second half, he puts that across and Donaghmore go three up they would've pushed clear. Joey Clarke the best for Donaghmore, even though the referee was very very harsh on him. CBS have a great chance of back to back MacRory's but they have struggled with teams who have superior size and Dungannon would be quite a bit bigger than Omagh, so 50/50 game.

Agree on Joey Clarke. I felt he was the best player on the pitch and the referee was sore on him particularly on one occasion mid way through the second half at a crucial stage.
