With a days notice, bizarre. You would think they were doing ok with ad revenue cos the shows were littered with ads, it's not worth €10 though. Too much guff and average presenters

A load of very average presenters - some infact quite annoying. One day notice ridiculous.

1. Beggan
2. McCluskey.  3. Fitzsimmons. 4. T O'Sullivan
5. O'Connell 6. J McCarthy. 7. White
    8. Fenton.  9. Rogers
10. P Clifford.  11. Basquel.  12. Smith
13. Clifford.  14. McGuigan. 15. Costello

Can't see Beggan getting in over Cluxton/Ryan/Lynch tbh.
As much as I'd like to see mcluskey in, 3 for an Semi-finalist probably won't happen.
I could see McManus getting one.
But I'd say you're not too far away in general there.

Mc Carthy of Monaghan will get one.

Very possibly, I think it'll be between him and O'Connell. If there's one from outside the semifinalists it'll be between Enda Smith and D Canavan both of whom had great seasons.

Andy Murnin was the best player outside of the 4 semi finalists. Smith had a great season as well and it would be hard to begrudge him an award though I don't think he'll get it.

A 19 year old rookie easily dealt with Murnin.
Murnin had a great year (whether that is enough to get an All-Star given how the system works is debatable) Trying to deny that is simply madness. One arm wrestle of a match does not ruin a whole season for him.
It was the one on one duals he lost with McEvoy that stood out for me, in Murnin's biggest game of the year. Hard to get an all star after that. I agree he had a good season otherwise, but who of the following does he get in the all star ff line ahead of: Clifford, McGuigan, Costello, Mannion, Basquel, Con, McManus?
I don't remember him losing out on any one-on-one duels against ANYONE all year. The All-Star system would have got him in ahead of some of those players you list if Armagh had have made an AI semi.  Not many of those players you list had to come the field and be a ball-winning option the way Murnin was used this year. A colossus.

Christ you boys over hype him something serious!

20 the boy who deserves the ban there. Going by that video - he started it. To me 28 was only defending himself. Looked decent with the mits.

I'm not a fan as such but it seems to be the way of the world. Could both governments not seek Chinese/Arab investment in such infrastructure? The Chinese are definitely help fund key UK assets such as Hinckley nuclear facility and high speed 2. Could that be viable?

There was a picture of the 2011 AI minor programme on twitter yesterday. Dublin team included: Robert McDaid, Eric Lowndes, John Small, Jack McCaffrey, Cormac Costello, Ciaran Kilkenny and Paul Mannion. Davy Byrne was on the bench and Niall Scully was on the wider panel, not the match day squad.

I think 7 of those are in contention to start on Sunday, which is not only a serious amount to bring through from minors, but to still have them around 12 years later is some going.

And did they not lose that final to Tipp? Just shows you winning the minor final isn't always the answer.

My god this has to end! Surely small incremental dualling (which eventually joins up) can be the first step. The worst sections to begin with. The Irish government boasting of huge surplus in cash surely can make steps as we can't rely on Tory Britain.

The criteria for "young" is pretty broad from memory. I would say Gannon would qualify for it too and he's a good one but McEvoy definitely should be right up there with the best of them.

I think it's still U21. Not 100%

Should be U23 in my opinion as there's been a few years lately where there has only been a very limited pick of eligible players.

Jack Glynn won it last year and he'd have been u22.

He certainly didn't hit the heights this year. Looked very average

Great podcast with Rogers ok.

Would there be any Glen people who are hurlers playing for Slaughtneil in the Hurling?

No hurling allowed in Glen!!  ;D

From the current senior side Michael Warnock was a very good hurler - played for both Swatragh and Derry seniors. Some lads played a bit of underage for Swatragh. Stevie O'Hara was a decent underage hurler with Slaughtneil but never played senior. Think Conor Glass might have played a game or two for Lavey. He was an excellent hurler by all accounts.

Always felt that if Derry were serious about hurling they'd have been pushing Antrim and beating Antrim every year.

In my day hurling at minor level Derry clubs played in the Antrim leagues, they were every bit as good if not better that most Antrim clubs, and they secured plenty of school's competitions too.

But bog ball is king, S'niel showed how you can (at club level) mix it with the best

The crop of players in Slaughtneil are the exception. It won't be repeated (in terms of high level dual players).
