Some better news regarding injuries. Barry Moran played for the U-21s on Sat, so it looks like it wasn't the injury that prevented him playing in Clones, he's just not in favour.

From The Mayo News:

DESPITE Mayo's third victory of this National Football League campaign last Sunday, John O'Mahony was adamant afterwards that his team's position in Division 1 had still not been assured for next season.
"I wouldn't see our position consolidated with six points," he told The Mayo News. "I think we need more points. We are going to go after everything we can now. To a certain extent the pressure is off us a little because the Limerick and Fermanagh games are the ones you are expected to win.
"Cork's last home performance against Tyrone was magnificent and there'll be a backlash after their loss to Dublin. It's difficult to get points away from home, we'll be going in as underdogs, and hopefully we'll relish that."
Mayo's defence recovered from an indifferent opening to produce an outstanding display, holding Fermanagh scoreless for a 40 minute period. All six had their moments with Billy Padden turning in an accomplished performance at centre-half back.
"It's knitting in and they're getting used to each other," John O'Mahony admitted. "Enda Devenney has settled in well, so has Liam O'Malley, all of them as a group are doing well. It's important for a defence that they play well as a unit as well as individually.
"Billy Joe has settled in well at centre-back and hopefully we can get that team-work going because any team is greater than any individuals. We're not there yet but we're getting there."
On the injury front, Barry Moran is expected to return to full training this week. The Castlebar Mitchels midfielder lined out for the Mayo U-21 team last Saturday after recovering from tonsilitis and injury.
Goalkeeper David Clarke was not on the bench for Mayo last Sunday because of a back injury but Kevin O'Neill is expected to have recovered from his hamstring strain for the match against Cork on Saturday week.
However, David Brady looks likely to miss the trip to Pairc Uí Rinn due to his calf injury. The Ballina midfielder hopes to do some running next weekend and the April 1 clash with Dublin looks the most likely date for his return.
And what of Ciaran McDonald? "Ciaran did a bit of light training with us during the last few weeks," O'Mahony revealed. "He's working in Cork at the minute, that contract is due to finish soon, but we have to be patient.
"This was an injury that affected Ciaran before the All-Ireland last year. We'll have him back as soon as we can. He's doing everything, our medical team are doing everything, but he's not going to be available for the next game or two."

Apparently Barry Moran is injured at the moment.
It's a pity, would have been good to get a look at how he's progressing (if at all).
T Mort is a very hard worker, but he can be frustrating too, he takes the wrong option a lot of the time. But his workrate alone probably merits a starting place.
From the sound of things, BJP is really settling into CHB.
Johnno said they're trying to change the style of play Mayo have been using for the last few years, so maybe that's why things aren't really clicking up front yet. Hopefully that will all be smoothed out by May 20th

Full time 12 pts to 1-7.
Decent hard working performance according to Mid-West. Fermanagh could have won but they were brutal in the forwards

Strong team. Some of the players named were rated as doubtful earlier in the week (Devenney, Liam O'Malley, Aidan Campbell) so this may not be the team that lines out.
Good to see Jimmy Nallen getting a start again, but 70 mins in midfield is surely beyond him these days.
Alan Dillon is a half-forward, rarely plays well in full-forward line. He mightn't stay in there of course....

Fair play to Nicky Brennan. His comments regarding the club finals are great to hear and will be reassuring to many worried about the direction they think the GAA is headed

QuoteThe Kilkenny man described the playing of the club finals in Croke Park as "essential", despite the fact that the GAA will lose money on staging them at the stadium.

"It's a fantastic occasion. We're going to have eight teams in Croke Park this weekend.

"People came to me after the finals last year and they were almost in tears that their club played in Croke Park. This is the ultimate GAA in action.

"Yes, there will be small crowds, but it's as important to open Croke Park to these people as it is for anyone else. We will have to take a financial hit on the days, but that's irrelevant. This is a debt we owe them and this is a very, very small thing that we can do," he added.

I'd have to agree with Stonewalls predictions for the q-finals in Senior and Intermediate.
Hard to say who'll come through from q-finals on though.
Happy enough with Ballintubber draw, should come out of that group.

The injuries are mounting for Mayo, and Johnno is telling the players who get the chance this Sunday that they better make the most of it. Taken from The Mayo News:

Big guns fall hard

PREVIEW
MIKE FINNERTY

MAYO will be without three of their most experienced players for next weekend's National League game against Fermanagh in Clones due to injury and illness.
Ronan McGarrity will be out of action for at least the next few months after being diagnosed last week with testicular cancer. The 25 year old midfielder informed his team-mates last Saturday that he would be dropping out of the Mayo squad to receive treatment.
Also definitely missing next Sunday will be David Brady (calf) and Kevin O'Neill (hamstring) while both Enda Devenney and Aidan Campbell picked up injuries last weekend and are considered "doubtful".
"We have an availability crisis and we'll be tested to the limit by it," Mayo manager John O'Mahony admitted to The Mayo News.
"There's no hiding place now. When people are given an opportunity they have to perform. Next Sunday is going to provide an opportunity to players and the reality is that you cannot give people continuous game-time.
"Fermanagh have to pick up points somewhere and we don't want it to be against us. We only have three matches at home so it's vital that we win on our travels too."
The absence of so many central figures is likely to mean the return of the likes of David Heaney, Patrick Harte, Austin O'Malley and Conor Mortimer, all of whom were dropped for the win over Limerick ten days ago.
However, O'Mahony was adamant that Mayo would need to be firing on all cylinders if they were to win their third match of the ultra-competitive Division 1A. Their next outing is away to Cork on Saturday, March 24.
"It's been a trend in our games so far that our second half displays haven't been as fruitful as we would like. Against Limerick the last day we lost our shape, and that's possibly down to David Brady and Kevin O'Neill going off, but we need to up our performance for next Sunday. This is going to be a tough game."
However, it has not been the best of starts to the NFL for Charlie Mulgrew and Fermanagh with three defeats from three games against Tyrone, Limerick and Kerry.
The team have managed just 1-24 in that time and conceded 3-36 which, overall, doesn't paint a pretty picture with big games to come against Mayo, Dublin, Cork and Donegal.
Last time out against Kerry in Cavan, Fermanagh's defence was prone to silly fouling, and there was no real method in attack. They also struggled in the vital midfield sector and the absence of a target man up front has also been a problem.
Goalkeeper Christopher Breen is suspended for Sunday's match while the likes of Eamon Maguire and Ciaran O'Reilly remain the scorers-in-chief. All-Star Barry Owens, Tom Brewster and Marty McGrath will all be familiar to Mayo supporters.

I think the word 'resigned' is causing a bit of confusion here  :D

McDanger, Gavin Duffy has signed for Connacht for a second time, returning from England i.e. he has re-signed for them.

So, he's very much a Connacht rugby player, so will not be available for Mayo I'm sure.
