Unfortunately it would appear that Ronan Clarke's injury will end his county if not football career. I base this just on the way the story has been developing. Although I hope I'm wrong we could be doing with him.

Whilst this is clearly a sensitive subject, is it not likely that she's going there to mark or apologise for what happened there? It would be interesting to know who initiated this, but i'd doubt the Irish diplomats were forcing the visit.

As for the general opposition, primarily coming from the SF side of the house, how does this opposition fit in with the whole 'Unionist outreach' agenda? Is such opposition not perhaps counter-productive to the principal aims of the republican agenda?
Well said Maguire, I don't think SF are opposed, just not vocal in support...that will take a few more years.

I am quite impressed with the GAA administrations ability to wind up the Nordies. They take it to a whole new level  ;D
Not all "Nordies" are wound up just as not all "Freestaters" will welcome Liz. I for one think it is a sign of maturity if GAA people North and South can welcome the Queen to Croker. It also offers the hand of friendship to those Irishmen North and South who hold her in high esteem.
What a load of shit.
Why is it a load of shit? Because it offers an alternative view to your own?

Jaysus I am sick of hearing that line. It would also be a sign of maturity to stand up for the dignity of the families of the victims of the British Army who will be hurting most when this visit happens and who would like to hear the british army come clean before it's head comes to Ireland to lecture about moving forward.
Christ it was a f88king war people died on both sides, including young McAnespie but we have to try and get over it, it was a war nobody could win, peace is imperfect but preferable to what went before.

I won't be waving it in case you try to cast aspersions. The flag is the St.George's Cross representing England/Wales/Cornwall/Berwick, The St.Andrew's Cross representing Scotland and the St.Patrick's Cross representing Ireland/Northern Ireland.

A wee tip for you, the short-hand for that is: Ireland!

There was no such thing as partition when the imperial geniuses as were dreamed up the 'union jack' (your blueshirtedness is showing again  ;) ).

I put in its original meaning and what it represents now. My what!!!  :P I think you are only slagging so I'll let it fly.
A lot of you guys complained when some of us inadvertently referred to you as Freestaters yet you continue to deny our right to be Irish with your partionist attitudes.

As an Armagh man i have admired several Tyrone players; Peter Canavan, Eugene McKenna, Fay Devlin, Sean Cavanagh. I recognise that phillip Jordan was a ver good player but he does not have my admiration. probably like many Armagh supporters when i think of him i think of him falling like a ronaldo's sister in 2003 final after he was the one who made a tear for Diarmuid Marsden. Seeing a grown man rolling on the ground holding his face after hardly being touched was embarrassing.
No matter what he did in the years following that i could not look at him without scowling. Hope he continuesto have a good club career and is prob a nice lad, but for me what sticks out is him diving it made me sick and still does.

will be a miss for Tyrone.

Marsden assaulted him-disgraceful antics from him. Who did Marsden think he was-Neil Lennon? Same breeding i suppose.

Talking about dives-a bit rich from the orchard "faithful"-what about O'Rourke's 5.5 after being flicked by Mulligans boot in 05 or his older brother doing the peek a boo act when lying down in the build up to the penalty.

To the Armagh faithful-dont throw those stones you bitter bitter men.

Defenders never get the recognition they deserve. Fact is Jordan could have played from 2-15. He was that good that he was never considered being dropped/rotated/played out of position.

The number 7 has his IMO will take something very special to fill it.
This is a disgraceful post and a slur on a fine and honest footballer from some one who obviously is as blind as the umpires at the 03 final...Watch it again in slow motion. References to "breediing" are a bit rich coming from someone who posts this type of drivel.

Mr Consistent has been his main label over the past 10 years and he has come back time and time again from bad injuries but it sounds like it has all caught up with him this time and he has possibly been advised to not play any more.

Shame on those who aren't man enough to admit he has been one of the best wing backs over the past 10 years and has shown a great will to win. He's a tough nut too but was never purposely a dirty player.
I think if he didn't live so near the Armagh border he wouldn't haven't had the same hatred towards him from the Apple Munchers.

Thanks Phillip for your huge efforts for the Red Hand cause and I hope you enjoy your club football should you play on.
You are straying into "freestater" territory here with this apple muncher business!! However like most Armagh Fans I would agree that Jordan has been immense for Tyrone. The out come of  '03 incident whilst of his making had more to do with poor refereeing and even worse from two partially sighted umpires.

I have just read Cardinal Sean Brady's speech/homily at the mass for Constable Kerr. He has gone some way to rehabilitating his image.
Well said Cardinal Brady.

Some moving words from the funeral from what I heard on the Radio yesterday.  But I also heard Gerry Kelly on condeming the killing and violence in general, and how the pictures of the devastation caused should send some kind of message to the killers.  If you are going to get someone from your party to speak in such matters, surely he is not the man.
Why?

I think these fellas have more support than we are led to believe over the last few days, and probably have a few secret admirers on this board.
No I can't agree with that. The majority of people on this Island in general and the North in particular do not want to go back to those days. Just look at the electoral support SF and the SDLP get. Why should we as nationalists allow the PSNI to be the armed wing of Unionism...Get in there and make a difference. One thing the peace process has proven is that change can only come from within. There is no place in our society now for this type of attack.
Did you read my post? I am not talking about tens of thousands of people or the "majority" but I would be pretty certain they have their supporters, and more than the half a dozen we are led to believe.
Yes I read your post I just think it over estimates their support. There is a difference between communities still being suspicious of the police and being active supporters of killing and death.

I heard on some news report over the weekend that PSNI/Garda reckon they have 600-700 members. In addition, they themselves must reckon they have enough "sneaking regarder" support to make it worth their while collecting on the streets.
The collections are demanding money with menace, they dare you not to give.
