Very true o'neill. its easy to say if gaa had the same risks then i would give it up but impossible to know unless i was put in that position. Every sport with speed has dangers and people die from accidents but road racing just seems crazy. I would say all those riders at the north west will have known or been friends with someone who has died in road racing accidents. I found the following article about your man ryan fraquhar before Robert Dunlops accident

Ryan Farquhar has admitted he may consider his future in road racing at the end of this season in the wake of Martin Finnegan's death on Saturday.

"This could possibly be my last year in road racing. I'm not saying it will be but it is possible," he told the BBC.

"It could just as easily have been me that was killed on Saturday and I know it's not fair on my wife and child but it's like a drug and I love the sport.

"I have one major ambition left to fulfil, to win a major Superbike race."

"If I won a big bike race at some of the international meetings, that may influence my decision about the future."

Farquhar witnessed the crash in which Finnegan suffered fatal injuries at the Tandragee 100 and said he "felt sick at the time".

"You just have to try and carry on as normal but it is hard to get your head round it.

"We had a great race earlier in the day in the Open event and I think the feature race would have seen another great battle between the two of us, but it was not to be. It is all very sad.

"Martin knew the risks he was taking, as I do, but I just have to try and put it to the back of my mind and try and focus on the North West 200.

"I am expecting that I may get flashbacks of the crash whenever I get back on the bike but I will just see how it goes.

"Martin's passing is a big, big loss to the sport and I know he loved the sport, just like I do," added Farquhar.

Always wanted to go to one of his conerts. Isnt he well know to be one of the best live performers ever?

Its just my opinion on it. I know it has become a joke but putting dustin in it for f**k sake, taking it to the extreme. The worst about it is he is liable to go and win the f**king thing .

Mrs Mangle - Ziggys secret shame  ;)

Big Jim certainly is one of the biggest success stories from the street. He even has the honour of being the man named at full back on the neighbours dream team that a few of us where discussing a few weeks back. i have listed the initial team selections again for those of you who didnt see it. The full discussion is about 7 pages back i think.

Management team:- Lou and Harold - They have not got the legs for this team anymore but with the years of experience they have around the street they must surely be given the chance to run the team.

Paul Robinson - with the bad leg he wont be able to start. Dont know what to do with him, he cant really manage the team because he wouldnt get the respect of the players. But then again Lou & Harold are 2 gentlemen and might let to many boys run about and do there own thing.??

1. Toadie - Not the most mobile but f**k he would have some kick out on him. Hitting the half forwards and midfield with every kick.
2. Riley - Honest defender. Would do what hes told and no more. Just like any good corner back should.
3. Constable Steiger - No nonsense full back. Dont get in this mans road.
4. Marco - Sneaky sly wee bastard but would be a tight marker. The Ryan McMenamin of the team
5.
6. Oliver Barnes - He strong and fit. Just a question mark over his size. May need to go out to the wing. But he would put his head where others wouldnt put there feet.
7. Declan - Young but strong. I think hes ready to play half back. Up and down the field all day, a half forwards nightmare. No reason why he cant get the odd score aswell.
8. Dan Fitzgerald aka Fitzy - Will have to do all the running in midfield but should be no problem to him. I would expect at least 2 points every match from this man.
9. Steve Parker - Fitness could be this mans problem and he might have to switch with Ned every now and again. But he'll catch the ball and give it off or send it in himself to Ned. Thats his job done. Just play in between the 2 50's.
10. Frazer - Gives us a bit of height for Toadie to aim his kick outs. Also looks fit enough to get up and down the park and also big enough to mix it up around the breaking balls.
11. Doctor Karl Kennedy (Captain) - The maestro. Might not have the legs anymore but he would win breaking ball all day and would spray passes all over the park. He would hit the frees and fifty's. Everything would come through this man.
12. Ringo - Another young fella but with his fitness he could play a Dooher sort of role. Up and down the park all day, winning breaking ball and also coming off Ned's shoulder to get the odd score aswell.
13.
14. Ned Parker (Vice Captain) - He would be some full forward. The Kieran Donaghy of the team. Might have to come out to the middle of the field the odd time.
15. Zeke - If he stays close to Ned and feeds of the breaks then he'l do a job. If your good enough your old enough.

We have a half back and corner forward spot to fill. Any ideas. Dont think we can count Boyd as he's moved to Tasmania or somewhere.

Now for the Dream Team:- I am actually leaning towards the same management team of Lou and Harold.
1. Toadie - Picked for his kickout
2. Paul Robinson - In his prime he would have been a tight marking corner back.
3. Jim Robinson - The rock at the back
4. Dylan Timmons - Worried about the amount of frees he would give away close to goal.
5. Boyd Hoyland - Fit and strong. Them wieghts that he was doing will stand to him now.
6. Joe Mangel - Can read the game better than anyone.
7. Darcy Tyler - Dirty bastard and a bit of nut case but will win breaking ball all day.
8. Drew Kirk R.I.P (Vice Captain) - The legend. Not a dirty player but hard on the ball. Complete tank.
9. Doctor Karl Kennedy (Captain) - Nothing needs to be said about this man. One of the top players in Erinsborough history.
10. Scott Robinson - Another legend of the street in his day. Hard working half forward
11. Paul McClain - What a talent to have at your disposal. The best player from Erinsborough ever. Free taker, penalty taker, etc
12. Conor O'Neill - The irish man would need to be getting a few scores. Not the most mobile but can judge the break of the ball better than the aussies. Vital for winning ball and getting it into the full forward line.
13. Mal Kennedy - If hes half as good as the aul fella he will be doing alrite. Plenty of scores from this man
14. Ned Parker - Great target man. Can win the ball over his head or coming in low to him. Doesnt matter just put it in to him.
15. Stu Parker - Stu should get plenty of scores with the brothers help. Deadly finisher.

Subs:
Billy Kennedy
Joe Scully
Jack Scully
Stingray - unlucky not to get a start
Max Hoyland
Stonefish
Doug Willis
Declan
Zeke
Steve Parker
Constable Steiger - Will be needed at some stage in a game
Riley
Lance - Wouldnt have him anywhere near the team. wouldnt go for a 50/50 all day.

Bouncer - Team mascot

The dream teams midfield is unreal and plenty of scores coming from that full forward line. Defense could give away frees and maybe a few sendings off a season – Darcy and Dylan in particular will need to be closely watched.
What a squad. Feel free to make changes to both teams.

Actually the story is worse.  i was at the NW this weekend and the story is that Robert's bike got stuck in gear, so he went to clutch.  The clutch is on the right handlebar, but Robert can't use his right hand because of his 1994 accident.  By accident, he pressed the button  on the handlebar which is the brake and that threw him over the handlebars.   Imagine the heartache for his wife, Louise.  Losing her brother in law, then her husband and now her 2 sons are involved.  She said she knew he was going to die from the sport.  Does she also know about her sons? What a way to live.  I love motor racing, but it's time to call a halt...

Totally agree, its not worth it. It breaks your heart just watching the footage of the son on the winners podium the other day then the funeral today. Cant even begin to imagine the heart break and devastation that the family must be going through. Its just not worth the risk, something needs to be done.

Hope it gets put out. Complete joke for a country like ireland with a proud tradition in music to have a turkey representing it.

Fair play to the son for going on and winning it. This sport is madness though. I know people will say that its like us playing gaelic football. I love gaa with a passion but if it had the dangers and risks that racing does i would give it up in a second. Its unfair to put that kind of worry on their wives and children every week.

Tribute by Tommy Dornan PRO CSA

Tommy Burns - Legend (a fairy story, a fable)

What is a legend and how does someone achieve legendary status? A fairy tale, of great deeds and mighty wizards, of knights in shining armour defeating wicked spells and slaying dragons ?

The term has often been used to describe many less than worthy candidates. Those who can be deemed legendary in their own imagination, famous for their own notoriety, in tales of outrageous exploits fuelled by drink or boastful self praise! Occasionally, once in a generation perhaps, a beacon will shine, marked by a quiet demeanour, a strong sense of right and fair play and a burning desire to succeed.

When such a man is found he is to be cherished for we will
seldom see his like again. Of humble origins and proud traditions, from within a stones throw of Celtic Park, came such a Bhoy. He played for St Mary's boys Club, the parish that gave birth to our beloved Celtic. In 1973 he began his walk among the giants when Jock Stein signed him and he began learning his trade.

He earned his spurs in 500 games where his mop of red hair was forever in the thick of things scoring 81goals. Big Jock once said of him"doesn't he have class, his left foot makes the ball talk" praise indeed from the master. In the Happy Birthday year of 88 he twisted and turned to bring the double home, including one trademark free kick which deceived big Butcher into conceding an own goal. However all good things come to an end and so Tommy, in tears, threw the tools of his trade into the Jungle and left for Kilmarnock, where he achieved his first managerial success.

He returned home in 1994 and created a team in his image, the Glasgow Celtic Way, with flair and pace they entertained us and we were desperately unlucky not to win back the title. Di Canio, Van Hooijdonk, Cadette ably backed by Peter Grant and Phil O'Donnell, epitomised Tommy's style and belief in real football. A team many would contend played the best football we've seen since the Lions. With only the Scottish Cup success of 95 to show for his effort and grumbling behind the scenes from Fergus,

Tommy was all too soon, off to pastures new to continue his football education. His parting words and perhaps the beginning of his legacy to us, "football academies are about people, not bricks and mortar."Like a wandering minstrel of old, he packed his bags and was off to Newcastle and Reading before making the journey home to pass on his acquired wisdom to the young bhoys. His flame red hair, now turning silvery grey, perhaps due to the weight of our expectations, lent him a scholarly, sage like appearance yet he still cavorted around the training field like a two year old.

Working away in the backroom, he again travelled the length
and breadth of the country, securing the right people for his academy and imparting his wisdom to strengthen our future. He played his part on our road trip to Seville and like us, wept with pride in the achievements of Martins' team.In 2006 fate through another challenge in his way and he met it like before, head on. With Rosemary and their family beside him and the Celtic family
surrounding him in prayer,we believed the battle had been won.

Sadly it was not to be and on Thursday morning he again walked through the gates of Paradise. So what is a legend, a stirring tale, a fairy story, yes indeed, for he is now part of our folklore and many tales will be told of his deeds through the ages.In future if you are asked to explain what it means to be "Celtic-minded" the answer will Come easy, TOMMY BURNS.

Its a complete f**king joke. I dont think they do a student rate either. I would happily pay £30 or what ever it is to go to a dublin header in Croke Park - one of the finest stadiums in Europe. Anyone who pays £19 to sit on a slab of concrete in Casement parkfor 2 hours is a mug.

I cant wait for them 2 blades to make an apperance. That fella in that video with libby was on australia x factor or something like that. Neighbours seem to be going out and getting high profile actors these days - still no1 has an inch on the Doc and Susan.

It's on Thursday Jim, and the gers play Monday night too at St Mirren.  Switched over today when Rangers got their goal, I thought before the game they might find it difficult to score but when the keeper gifted them that one I thought they'd shut it out handy enough.  Dundee Utd will be a tough game but I have a feeling Aberdeen might take something at home to Rangers on the final day anyway.  Never would have thought it would be in Celtic's hands at this stage after the Motherwell defeat at Parkhead.

So it is i thought the 22nd was a Tuesday.

Cant believe it, i had given up all hope about a month ago.  Its like 2003 in reverse. McDonald to get a hat trick to seal the win would do lovely

Get in ther. One more big game on Tuesday and then thats the leagues coming back to celtic park.
