Big pressure now on Ulster Rugby. Acquitted after about 4 hours. They are in a tough spot, if indeed, the word is true they are gone no matter what.

how come? any proof?

I remember that occasion in 1983 very well, standing on "hill 17" with my dad.
i think the Dubs do travel in very good numbers, more so now due to the winning team

Ye're messing?
Why? Where'd you hear that?

Jay$U$ they must know they are really messing up people's plans.
I'd nearly send them a bill from my Irish Rail and Bus Eireann tickets.
Fans deserve compensation in such a situation imo

do you reckon they'd get it?

The best story I read about Micko was from his Laois time (I think). He had the boys running incessant laps, so the captain or one of the boys asked Micko could they not change the training...he proceeded to tell them ''yeah thats fine. Turn around and run the other direction.'' On the other hand, I think he's the most over-rated GAA personality in the history of the sport.

I wouldn't be a big fan of Micko and I think his mercenary streak in his later years taint him for me, but it's harsh to call him overrated. His record speaks for itself and keeping that Kerry team motivated and hungry was an achievement itself. His greatest feat may have been coming back for another 3 in a row after sickening losses in 82 😀 and 83.

As a Dub fan that would have been my thoughts on Micko too, wanted the dough and trawled the country looking it, but boy was I wrong. Last night shed a whole new light on him for me, his gra for the game still shines. The fact he took Waterville u14s last year was brilliant.
One thing stood out though was the line where he said he'd no love for Heffo, they never even shook hands?? Still really enjoyed it, one of the best GAA documentaries.

General discussion / Re: The Stardust Fire
December 18, 2017, 09:02:06 AM
At the time of the Stardust I was living in Coolock at the time, I know some of the families who lost loved ones and who had to bring home people so changed by the fire, both physically and mentally,  that they may as well have been different people altogether. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but it is a bit sickening to see "grown ups" on here trying to score political points on each other about an incident which is possibly one of the worst the Irish State will ever see, instead of actually debating the incident itself, the causes, the damage, the ramifications since then. I have seen first hand the scars some people were left with, maybe if the clowns on here saw them they might stop acting like children

JFK's Secret Killer on channel 5 a few days ago.

Was a good comedy show.

Apparently it was an accident all along. A secret service guy accidentally shot him from the car behind. Well, that's that sorted then.

yeah saw a bit of that. The SS guy took his safety off his M16 and slipped, his finger hit the trigger and he shot the president in the back of the head in the car in front - as if

b**tard trying to package a gold find  as a good news story  what will the spindoctors think of next

Mongander  if you are part of a Lobby group . please declare your interest

As anyone with half a brain, or even anyone who has access to the internet will tell you, gold mining is one of the most toxic processes in the world.
There are NO examples of clean/environmentally friendly gold mines in the world.
The only thing universally associated with this industry is pollution and destruction.

I would have thought that someone with ties to Mayo, after all the people there have suffered at the hands of Shell, would have understood the threat of mass industrialisation and the theft of natural resources by foreign investors.

I live locally - that is my interest.
I am environmentally aware - that is my interest.
I do not want to see my football club destroyed due to a toxic gold mine less than a kilometre up the road from it - that is my interest.
I want to protect my community and local area - that is my interest.
I want to see my children and grandchildren live and prosper here, without the threat of cyanide, arsenic, or any other poisons hanging over their heads - that is my interest.
I do not want to see Ireland's natural resources being stolen to profit a foreign company or the crown estate - that is my interest.
I believe that Tyrone would be better suited to the promotion of sustainable tourism rather than the proliferation of toxic gold mines or monstrous wind farms - that is my interest.

Is that enough rosnarun, or should I continue?

Love Tyrone and Ireland is Not for Sale are two other Facebook pages you can check out for more info.

Fair play Mongander

I can see how this could be potentially very decisive in the area though with some people no doubt due to make a tidy few pound of their land.

and that is exactly what has happened, some people have made an absolute killing, enough to keep them and their families safe for years to come. But at what expense to everyone else
