And how much money would the Derry Board have wasted if they were allowed to proceed with their proposal of upgrading Celtic Park to 40k?

Brady hopes to benefit from 'Jordan factor'

By John Campbell

New Armagh County Board chairman Kevin Brady is hoping that some of the success enjoyed by his predecessor Joe Jordan will rub off on him.

Jordan stepped down at last night's County Convention having completed a five-year term in office which coincided with the most fruitful period in the long history of the GAA in Armagh.

Brady, who has been a dynamo within the Clan na gael club in Lurgan for many years, will now lead the orchard county into what he hopes will prove another successful chapter.

"We are a strong, vibrant organisation and obviously we face the future with confidence," said Brady who previously served as Football Board chairman and is regarded as one of the most able administrators in the province.

I hear Joe Jordan is standing down and the new chairman is to be elected unopposed tomorrow.

However regrettably few people travel to games from Derry city and Antrim rarely play in Clones. Places like West Tyrone and South Armagh where the GAA is strong are convenient enough to Clones.
There's more to the GAA in Ulster than south Armagh and west Tyrone (and potentially even more in the future).

Potentially you could have trains running direct from Derry city and Newry. It's an hour and a bit from Enniskillen and Omagh, approx two from Ballybofey.

It takes the between two and three hours to travel to Clones from Belfast and four maybe from North Antrim. Another half hour to get parked and between half an hour and an hour to get out again.

With the Long Kesh project you could travel from Strabane, get parked and be in your seat in around two hours.

Why is the Maze a better location? It's on the East coast hardly a central location

Besides being nowhere near the coast, it's got a big road running alongside side it and rail tracks.

QuoteDublin has loads of multi-storey parking,

not within an asses roar of Croker though

Get a bus from Parnell Sq carpark or 20 minute walk. I've never had a problem parking in the College either...

I do have waterproofs, but I draw the line at having to wear wellies to a game.

Parking isn't a problem in Clones....not compared to Croke Park anyways!

Try it on a wet Sunday afternoon when you're parked a mile out the Monaghan Rd, on the grass verge, with no footpath and a load of kids in toe. Dublin has loads of multi-storey parking, footpaths, busses and even people who don't charge for the privilege of parking outside their houses.

Not bad I suppose when we consider they've only three or four non-student players this year.
