Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling
November 02, 2008, 10:00:18 PM
I POSTED THIS ON THE MAIN SITE>

I went to Coalisland today to give support to my club mate Damian cassidy. Could not beleive the admission price of £12. How can the Ulstetr Council justify this price. I met families going home. There was mayhem around the gates as supporters could not come to terms with the price. I saw two parents with two teenage daughters no older than 15 years trying to gather up the necessary £48 to gain entrance. I saw young boys and girls standing outside, not allowed in to support their teams. The programme at £2 was nothing more than a list of teams who weren't even playing at this venue.
Hang your head in shame Ulster Council, if this is how you are going to promote Gaelic games among the youth and grass roots  and i think you are certainly not in touch with the grass roots.

What action did Tyrone take against their official who knocked down the big lad at half time in the all- ireland final. It didn't look very well on the biggest day in the GAA calendar and could have started a very ugly scene.

Possibly one of the most idiotic posts of the year.

Why was it idiotic? This happened in front of 800,000 plus a world wide audience. It was adisgrace and should have been dealt with internally.

It's not just the Derry County Board that come down heavy on mischievous activities:

Personally I think the ban is too much, but if you're gonna get a 72-week suspension for head-butting then i suppose 12 weeks seems fair.

Jonathan was with Fergal Logan this morning. He thinks they have them on a technicality but feels at least that the Ulster Council will cut it to four weeks from the date of the offence.

Brand should get his lengthened!

I think all clubs in Derry would need to be on their best behaviour. I was at this game and in comparison to other games i have seen, comparatively speaking very little occurred. The Irish News and local press carried made no mention of the disturbances in their match reports the following days. As someone says, it was interesting that these large fines took place the week after the appointment of Damian Cassidy as county manager- " that it will take all this and more fines in the future to pay Damian's wages". ;D ;D ;D

Not being an expert in goalkeeping, would someone explain to me Ronan's Gallaghers Strengths. IMO he is the 2nd worst keeper in Ulster.

How would you rank then - 1 to 9?

James O'Reilly
John Devine
Sean McGreevy
Paul Harty
Paul Durcin
Brendan McVeigh
Monaghan Keeper
Ronin Gallagher
The Derry Goalie [name wont come to me- the redhead one]

Maybe i'm wrong lads but in my opinion the lad is in a win/win situation. He's 18, gets a chance of a life-time, professional training for a couple of years, if he makes it the lad ends up a star. If he doesnt make it, he comes home, 20 years of age, more than likely filled out, and joins the best team in the Country (as a Derry man that kills me to say that).

Isn't he a cousin of yours Ronan . Looks and plays like you. What a legend Ronan WAS!

the whole thing is an affront to the gaa - how did this man not get a real ban?

Now now Glenullin. Why did Paddy B not get a real ban last year after grabbing a referee by the throat. I didn't hear you complaining too much when his suspension was overturned. Laughable , truly laughable.

It runied my life....my male relations are more or less good footballers and the ones who play have at least a championship medal....me, I am useless at it and knew by the time I was 16/17 that I was piss poor, but kept trying. Anyway....at every wedding, funeral, party, family get together I get reminded of just how shite I was....its really pisses me off.

There's no doubt, that our best 6 (bar dook) started yesterday, but the only man that's irreplaceable is still PB and no team has one of those on the bench. Derry, like it or not has 3 half forwards that will contribute no more than  4 points between them, on average, per game and the 2 corner forwards will generally contribute about 2 - 3 apiece

fermanagh will double team on paddy
whoever derry pick as the spare man will be vital
i would go for gerard okane - uses ball well and good coming forward

Come on Gerard, don't be looking the easy job, just because you can't mark ;D

First of all, very funny Franko but when you win 21 championships, you can come on here and call us TOOLS! As for greenman , them boys who play hurling for screen, we don't want them as they cause to much trouble and there never was a Diamond played hurling for Swatagh as they would never be allowed in a Bellaghy pitch again if they did. ;D ;D ;D ;D
