His elderly father actually. Lives on Cuba Avenue, Banagher.

A sound man too by all accounts - the mate and his wife wanted to visit Cuba a few years ago before Castro would die and it "all would change." Anyway, there was a bit of a mix up and they ended up n a Bed and Breakfast a couple of doors away from him. One of the best holidays ever, they still say.

Interesting that for all the giving out (I know michael duignans auld lad wont be able to watch any gaa saturday) but SKY are showing 3 games on saturday and more importantly the choice of two games at the same time with both Leinster hurling games being shown at 7pm, something you wont get with RTE. Sunday you have Tipp Clare and Waterford Limerick on at 2, both huge games in the context of the championship but only one is going to be shown and then we get to see dublin beat longford at their ease. Credit to SKY (and eir) who are able to show games that are on at the same time and do it.

Sky are showing just 2 games according to this http://www.skysports.com/watch/gaa-on-sky

Meath v Tyrone and Kilkenny v Wexford.

3-0 very much a routine win. Hard to believe that Atletico Madrid can be so well organised in defence while their more famous and wealthy neighbours up the road Real Madrid are the very opposite.

The win is either very good news for Lyon or very good news for Marseille.
Saturday night will now be interesting.
Lyon v The Biscuits who also need a win or draw and Marseille v Earl of Aldborough/Baron Baltinglass/The Train Station. (a lot of interest in this because of the Irish connection)
Lyon with a one point advantage going into the last.

Boxing Day!

A remarkable 96 years or so after partition - minds and souls.
Draperstown will have to travel further on the day.

It is 3 pounds fifty in a bar round our way but a bit cheaper than that in the clubs.

Watching The Sunday Game here (recorded) and have got as far as the end of the Galway versus Roscommon match and it turns out that the wee man who was on The Sunday Game for ages is actually the manager of Roscommon now who are just after winning Connacht. A great boost for the show.

First three stories on the news.

1. Belfast City Council (which has an Irish party as their biggest party) have been granted an injunction to stop any more bone fire building at four sites in the city.

By the way - it was mentioned that this is prompted by "public safety concerns" due to the size already of the four bone fires.

2 Aer Lingus has cancelled flights to holiday destinations in September and are now finishing in August despite local people having bookings on the September flights.

3rd story on the news. 11 year old impaled on a metal rod at the IRISH Open Golf tournament.
Why are they having it here impaling our children? Do they not have any golf courses of their own?

See them Irish and the twelfth coming up and all!

I avoided the scores of the two Leinster games yesterday so that I could watch the highlights.

Meathv Louth up first and Dessie asks O'Rourke in the analysis afterwards if he thinks Meath will play a sweeper against Kildare the next day  :-X

Indeed. It was all over for Laois before the highlights of their game even started.
