Bit early yet for him, but there is every chance D Geragthy will find himself in one of the CB places. I think horan feels he needs a good man marker and has identified DG as a possible solution, possibly for the next game. People seen to forget that in the 2004 AIF he held cooper well for the time he was on him even though that was the last we really saw of him on the IC scene

Just happen to flick on the game last night a few minutes before the incident occured, got me thinking about lennon and what type of persona he has or is trying to portray.
1. These is no doubt (IMO) his demeanour does bring some of the trouble down on himself
2. He is one selfish man if he's happy to put his family through this orderal for the sake of his celtic iconic status
3. He's not that good of a manager when a he can't break the stranglehold of a near bankrupt club in a 8 -10 th rate european league.
4. is he trying to make himself into some type of martyr ala ML King or Malcom X. lot of talk last night saying what a shame it would be if he walked away. What's he going to prove by staying ?

I have loads of sympathy for him and his family but all he need do walk away and enjoy some normality elsewhere

At least FSG have some type of roadmap in place in terms of player recruitment (DC) and player profile <25yrs and i guess the manager at this stage. This together with a sizeable budget during the summer should take care of the on field activities. Off the field, Ian Ayre is the main man and has proved his worth with the 80% increase in commercial revenue and the standard charted and new kit sponsorship. The real test will be the stadium situation, stick or twist with Anfield. FSG got a good deal on the club at the time and know it's real worth as a new or revamped stadium with a league championship under their belt would make it an attractive profit proposition for an exit strategy. John henry seems to be a man of the coomon folk type guy and seems to want to build a sense of community with his projects instead of extraction $$$. Hats off to him anyway for landing the beautiful Linda, if he can pull a stroke like that with liverpool, anything is possible.

While the results have been impressive since the return of the King there were the defeats to WBA and Blackpool (i think) after being a goal up, a home draw with Wigan and a piss poor loss against the hammers. A half dozen extra points from these games would have liverpool sitting comfortably above city in the table. Someone asked the question earlier about Dalglish leaving blackburn, i think his assistant Ray Hartford, who was a proven manager in his own right with Luton i think, looked to be leaving at the time so he was promoted to manager and Kenny moved upstairs. The champions league campaign after the championship win was disastorous, Batty fighting with Lesaux on the pitch, and Kenny subsequently left his post has he had no real say in team matter by that point.
Anyway, roll on next season, can't see all the top teams including UTD and Arsenal been so poor again. the title will not be won with 77 points again soon. At least the pool will be bearable to watch, ditto with kenny's interviews

Mayo / Re: Mayo Club Football.
April 15, 2011, 02:49:07 PM
Trevor has been around for 10 years now, and i would say his only outstanding season was the 2004 campaign. If fermanagh had beaten us in the semi by a point, he would have got an allstar. A few eyebrows were raised when he was made captain a few seasons back, as his performances had him on shakey ground then. As mentioned, he had been away for a spell and it is difficult to expect him to come straight back in when he would not be regarded as an automatic choice. Time for the younger lads to carry the burden.

It's a funny one, I don't think anyone knows what team or performance to expect, so they're adopting a 'wait and see' approach.
In the last few years we've taken the league pretty seriously. This year, we're using it to look at new players and formations and I think the supporters are happy to allow that happen.
So nobody's getting too excited about our (solitary) win or our losses. Obviously we want to stay in Div 1 if possible, so if we lose to Cork this weekend, I think there'll be a lot more focus and discussion for the Monaghan match
There could be even more focus on the trip to london if there's no sign of a settled team coming together over the next 2 game

Cork have a lot of big men and will probably have 70% possesion of the ball. The Mayo midfield will need to have a stormer just to gain parity. With all the cork players moving towards goal and based on the defending (the whole team) against Dublin last time out, it could be a tough day at the office for Mayo. Even the worst of cork teams in the past seem to be able to cope with us easily.

Cork sold us a pup in last years league game. We though we were moving in the right direction but came crashing down to reality in croker. I doubt they'll be as generous this time around. Anyway, it would be more exciting to have a winner take all senario against Mongahan on the final day of the schedule.

Once Enda delivers an international airport in castlebar, a motorway network around the county and appoints me to the board of the ESB, i'll be more that happy with him.

The fear may have been that he would go for a longer spell originally. Although the point is valid that he should be in situ bearing in mind a new management team is trying to cobble a relatively new team and squad together.

One point from two home games is a poor return, Galway next week with a real point to prove in terms of their internal goings on. Don't see us beating dublin away and with Billie Joe capable of running up hughe scores for Armagh it could be a real dogfight to stay up. Early days yet but the forwards, bar Moran, were piss poor yesterday. Considering horan was able to knock the ball over the bar for 50 yards in his hayday, you would expect him to encourge forwards to shoot instead to going back and over the pitch. As many have said, the backs performed well but i fear for some of them later in the year. The feenys seem to be a good addition but there are still lots of questions hanging over the guys. As for poor AOS, can't run, can't catch. can't stay on his feet. It's difficult to know to do to get him motoring. He could have got the curly finger as quick as ronnie yesterday. Roll on Tuam, a victory over the old rivals could kick start the campaign

Good result last night, still can't understand why Kenny and Rafa before him is trying to make a midfielder out of aurelio. Although glen looked ok on the left wing back slot, i would still prefer fabio to knock in first time crosses. Have to say thay Kuyt played well in full forward, but with carroll and luis battling with him for those  positions at the top of the team i think it might be time to stand him down. Liverpool really need to add some pace to their attack in the summer. All in all,  good game to watch. Roll on sunday and let us see what masterplan Kenny will have up his sleeve.

Kuyt is one of the best full forwards in the business.
He's a Dutch Eoin O Gara

At least Suarez has  bit of bite (literally) to him and carroll is'nt afraid to fight back - just ask his girlfriend - unlikne Nando whom seemed to spend the last year complaining to the ref and opposition defenders. Sad to see him go in such undignified circumstances, but as many have said that's football. Seems to be a lot of speculation that Carroll was told by NUFC to hand in a transfer request, they would never get the spell of 35M again for him, however if he fires liverpool back to CL football he'll be worth every penny. Next two games especially the Chavski game away takes on a new importance, which striker will draw first blood. I think a lot of the existing LFC squad will be looking anxiously over their shoulder come the summer as i expect quiet the clearance sale with a lot of under 23 year old players coming in at fairly large money with the hope that they can retain their value when they hit their peak at 28.

General discussion / Re: VRT Registration
January 26, 2011, 12:35:40 PM
I happened to be getting my car NCT'd last week when a guy came into clear his car. Basically the guy/girl take all the details and then go outside and take a quick llok at the car. They are way more relaxed than the revenue people (i have cleared a few cars with them). No asking about extras.
It's a bit of a cod really as the NCT people do not lift the bonnet to look for chasis numbers or any signs it maybe a clone car or a writeoff. I thought this was part of the reason why this was introduced. Anyway, i think you have to contact the NCT center within 7 days of importing the car and have it clearing within 30.
I think the open market value that is used to calculate your VRT is well overpriced based on the existing car market in ireland at present.
